21.01.2022 Our Veggie Garden! Our Kindergarten children have been replanting our veggie garden for Spring! We have peas, lettuce, rainbow silverbeet, zucchinis and lots of herbs growing!! Our Kinder Room have been taking great ownership and care over this area and ensuring that the veggies are being watered each day "so they grow and we can eat them."

21.01.2022 Congratulations Brenda on being a highly valued member of our team for the past 10 Years What an amazing achievement and we look forward to many more years to come!

19.01.2022 Thank you to the generosity of our Sebastopol and Lucas staff and families, we have a great collection of back to school backpacks for the children effected by the recent fires. This is our current collection at Sebastopol, loads of full backpacks with lots of fillers to support the completion of our collection on Friday. We are still receiving donations until early Friday afternoon before they are sent off on the weekend to those in need. Thank you again for your support and generosity

19.01.2022 "I Am, You are, We Australian." During the COVID lockdowns, ABC Kids Community has been exploring the song 'I am, You Are, We are Australian.' This piqued the interest of our Pre Kinder room, who began learning the lyrics to our culturally symbolic song. Doesn't this just make you melt!

18.01.2022 In the wake of the recent bushfires, Cherish Early Learning Centre is asking for donations of items to be used to make up Back to School backpacks for the children affected by the fires. All donations can be left at reception and will be delivered to collection centres by staff. Any small donation will go a long way to helping out those impacted by fire.

18.01.2022 Just a reminder that this FRIDAY, OCTOBER 23rd is a PUBLIC HOLIDAY and Journey will be CLOSED. Formally the grand final parade public holiday, this day has been renamed Thank You Day to show Victoria’s thanks to those who have made sacrifices to contain the spread of Coronavirus. We hope everyone has a wonderful day enjoying the company of their loved ones!

17.01.2022 We will be welcoming Brett from 'Light Play Studio' on December 7th-11th for Centre Photos. If you would like to have your child photographed, please pop onto Brett's website and register your families interest.

16.01.2022 Welcome back for our second handy hack of Nutrition Week! Cooking with children is a brilliant way to increase their willingness to try new foods. By turning cooking into fun sensory play with no pressure to try what is made, children often surprise you with their curiosity and enthusiasm to give new foods or textures a go. But we get it, it can be messy and so is often avoided! Paediatric Nutritionist and Founder of Wholesome Child Mandy Sacher, has the following advice, when cooking with kids at home, try prep ingredients in the sink to make the clean up a breeze! This is how I love cooking with my own children and it makes the mess no fuss at all. Another fun and easy strategy to encourage fussy eaters to try new foods is by using cookie cutters to turn things like cheese slices and sandwiches into their favourite shapes.

14.01.2022 Today Cherish Sebastopol farewelled Richard. Even though he hasn't been with us long he has definately become one of the family . We are sorry to see him go but wish him all the best in his future venture ( he has promised to haunt us occasionally.) Keep a look out for a familiar face to take over the reins again as we welcome back Melissa in the near future.

14.01.2022 A big welcome to Nicole, who has joined us in an Admin Support role on Monday and Tuesdays! She is doing amazing already, learning our systems so that she is able to help and support our Journey families! She is eager to get to know everyone, so don’t be shy in saying hi!

13.01.2022 We are so lucky to be part of an amazing community in Sebastopol, providing the 'Second Bite' food program for our families at Journey Sebastopol. Twice a week our centre families have access to bread, fresh fruit & veg and non perishable food items to take home and share with their loved ones. We've been fortunate to be able to be part of this wonderful program for approximately 3 years now. Thank you Ballarat Community Health for making SecondBite such a successful program in our community!

13.01.2022 Creating meaningful connections with our community is something our children thrive on at Journey Sebastopol! Last week, we painted bright colourful pictures to send to the residents at James Thomas Court to help brighten up their day.

12.01.2022 Thankyou to everyone who has made donations to our Fill a Backpack fundraiser for the children affected by fire. We have had a great response so far. Just a note to let you know that we will be accepting donations until next Thursday 23rd Jan.

12.01.2022 We love what we do! It brings a smile to our faces knowing that we assist and support our families every day! Thanks for the beautiful card and treat from one of our families on this lovely Friday afternoon!

10.01.2022 A daily practice in the Kindergarten room has been a yoga session to finish off the day. Currently the children are doing yoga poses on the Magic Mats, inspired by being under the sea. As the weeks are progressing, all of the Kindergarten children are showing increased body awareness, strength and balance abilities. After yoga we have tea time, where the children and educators sit together and have a reflective chat about the day - with a flavoured tea or water infusion - to end their Kinder session calm and relaxed.

09.01.2022 On Friday we said goodbye to Jaime and Brett and Cherish as we have known it for 10 years. Today we start on a new Journey. Here's to the future. Onward and upward.

08.01.2022 In the Kindergarten Room we have been focusing on Aboriginal Dream Time stories for NAIDOC week. On Monday we read ‘How the birds got their colours’ and created our own colourful birds. On Tuesday we watched a video about the Rainbow Serpent and we created our own Rainbow serpents... On Wednesday we learnt about Tiddalik the frog and we drew what we’d do to make him laugh and spit out the water he swallowed On Thursday we read ‘The echidna and the shade tree’ and we then created our own echidna using salt dough, match sticks and googly eyes On Friday we made damper with ham, garlic & cheese! It was delicious and the aroma wafted through our centre! #AlwaysWas #AlwaysWillBe

08.01.2022 When we come dressed as our favourite story book character on 22/10/20 What an amazing effort by our families, so many amazing costumes which let us see 'book week' out with a bang!

08.01.2022 Eating fresh produce is important when trying to boost veggie intake, and enjoying fresh, seasonal produce is something we focus heavily on at Journey. We hope you find these tips on how to keep produce fresher for longer helpful. If you have more tips of your own, we’d love for you to share below!
