17.01.2022 Diets Don't Work Not for your body. Not for your mind. You may start off following a restrictive way of eating and think it’s going really well... But after a week or two (or maybe a month if you’re really committed), you’ll spot that chocolate brownie which is just calling your name and then what? You have a lapse in willpower, give in to your craving and fall off that dieting bandwagon! Completely depriving yourself of something through an ‘all or nothing’ mentality is completely ineffective. It can also be a destructive behaviour which can evolve into fears around eating certain types of foods. Whilst dieting may be viewed as a way to control an aspect of your life; it actually forces you to put the power in someone else's hands rather than your own body (which intuitively knows what it needs!) What to do instead? Flip the thinking and see empowerment through your food choices! Listen to your body and let it guide you. Your confidence around your food choices will even have a flow on effect to other areas within your life too!

02.01.2022 Hands up my fellow sweet-tooths! I don’t know about you, but I have a confession to make I often find myself craving something sweet after eating savoury. I know I’m not the only one!... What has saved me is the concept of crowding out. The concept it quite simple Instead of focusing on eating less of the ‘unhealthy’ foods; introducing more of the good foods will remove room for poorer choices. Think of it this way by filling your plate with delicious wholefoods and enjoying those; you’ll feel satiated from these and less likely to go hunting for anything else. For my sweet tooths out there - make sure you include some naturally sweet vegetables into your meal to help satisfy this craving. Think sweet potato, squash, pumpkin you’ll be amazed at the difference!
