25.01.2022 Playing with natural resources from the environment-how they benefit children. Natural play helps develop children’s cognitive and imaginative development with problem solving and open ended possibilities. Playing with natural resources helps children discover, become sustainably responsible, and become environmentally aware. Natural resources are also great for children’s senses!

24.01.2022 This week at Creative kids we have been very busy celebrating National Recycling Week..! The children have enjoyed using their imagination with cardboard boxes and string , using newspapers at the art easel to paint, and our group art creation from bottle lids. Meet our Rainbow Fish!

24.01.2022 Some of our children practicing our fundamental skill of the week! Climbing plays a key role in early childhood motor skills development. A study from PlayCore found evidence that climbing at a young age helps hone spatial and directional awareness, and also boosts physical skills such as balance, hand and foot coordination, and agility.

21.01.2022 Mint playdough is great for Sensory Play with children. This week we made our own using fresh mint grown in the Creative Kids Preschool garden! Stimulating your child's senses, this is a perfect opportunity to practice fine motor skills and the smell is beautifully overwhelming! Research shows that sensory play builds nerve connections in the brain's pathways, which lead to the child's ability to complete more complex learning tasks. Sensory play supports language development, cognitive growth, fine and gross motor skills, problem solving skills, and social interaction.

21.01.2022 As part of this week's learning opportunity on Community Helpers and Emergency Services, Belmont Fire Brigade paid us a visit today! We learnt how to dial 000 in an emergency, 'Get down low and go go go', and 'Stop drop and roll'. The children had an amazing time learning these important emergency life skills but the best part was getting to sit inside the Fire Engine and using the Fire hose! Thank you Belmont Fire and Rescue NSW! The children were able to ask questions, foll...ow instructions, and take part in group discussions. The children were able to practice their knowledge and skills with members of NSW Fire and Rescue and were able to resource their own learning through connecting with people from the community. 15.01.2022 Our beautiful children here at Creative Kids Preschool having a horse race practicing our fundamental skill of the week. They were all winners! Galloping is used commonly in dances (e.g. children’s, folk and line dances). Children enjoy the fun and light movement as it gives them the feeling of riding a horse.

14.01.2022 It's picnic time!

14.01.2022 Last night, our Educators completed their fire training at Claire's other centre at Raymond Terrace. We learnt about the different types of extinguishers and how to use them, how to use a fire blanket, how to reduce the risk of fires and how to get everyone out safely. We have ensured that our centre is safe for parents, visitors, children and educators.

14.01.2022 Stilts are designed to allow a person to stand at a taller height above the ground. The child gets the feeling of being taller as they are high off the ground, and has to engage their gross motor skills as they walk on the raised platforms and also coordinate the timing between lifting their leg with the stilt below it while keeping pressure on the handle with ropes at the same time so the stilts don’t separate from the foot. Stilts have been a staple component of outdoor play and gross motor activities for many years and are always popular with children.

11.01.2022 This week at Creative Kids Preschool our children are learning about emotions. Just like adults, children need to develop strategies for managing their emotions, so that they can build social-emotional skills. When children are more socially and emotionally aware and skilled, they can more effectively navigate relationships, calm down and problem solve when challenges arise. Helping children to identify and label emotions is an important first step. Many preschoolers do not yet have the vocabulary to identify feeling words like angry or frustrated, or have the skills to read facial cues or to interpret body language. Adults support children’s social-emotional development when they label and talk about emotions.

11.01.2022 Hello everyone, My daughter has lost her leap frog laptop at Swansea playground this morning and is very upset. The grass is super long so guessing its somewher...e amognst all of that. Some lovely people have helped us search this morning with no luck. If anyone is having a little play down there this longweekend and happens to come across it I've got a very upset nearly 4 year old that would be so excited to see it again. 10.01.2022 Today we met Tracy from StEPS vision screening and all children off to ‘big school’ in 2022 had their eyesight tested. The StEPS program is a initiative of NSW Health and offers all 4 year old children free vision screening. NSW Health advises all children to have their vision screened before they start school and strongly recommend that all 4 year old children participate in the vision screening program

09.01.2022 Earth Hour 2021 Creative Kids Preschool will once again be joining thousands of schools across Australia and the world by participating in the School Challenge for Earth Hour 2021 on Friday 26th March at 2pm. Earth Hour will be going ahead for the general public, at 8.30pm local time Saturday 27th March. We would love to see everybody take part in turning off all power for an hour for our planet, so get out a candle and a board game or head outdoors to watch the stars and support Earth Hour 2021!

06.01.2022 Welcome to the Creative Kids Preschool Aquarium! The children found a puddle of water in the blue dish. Will asked for a shark, and from there the family grew! We even found 2 baby sharks.
