22.01.2022 As we settle back into a new year we are presented an opportunity to not only reflect on the year past, but also set our sights to the future. We love seeing familiar and new faces entering the gym with great plans for their health and fitness. Here are a few important reminders as we return to the gym in 2021. 1. Consistency matters - It's not uncommon to hear many individuals getting started in a blaze of glory early in the year to only drop off shortly after. Arguably one ...of the most important ingredients is consistency and effort over time. If you want to see long term and sustained results, then plan to be consistent and stick at it! 2. Discipline and motivation - Being motivated is great, and often acts as a catalyst for change or to go and do! BUT.... when motivation drops off, we must look to discipline to help us stay accountable and on track. With this in mind, capitalise on your motivation, and work on being disciplined.. 3. Plan ahead - Whether you train solo, with a coach or friend, having a plan is crucial to maximising health and fitness outcomes and success in your new years ventures. Invest time in planning properly, get a program that aligns with your goals and individual circumstances, and most importantly that you will enjoy! 4. Everyone's health journey matters - As a facility and team that pride ourselves on our community and atmosphere we want to stress the point that EVERYONE matters and everyone in the gym has a right to be there and to work on themselves, their health and fitness. If you are an iron veteran, encourage those newcomers and be a positive influence for them. If you are just starting out, remember WHY you started and do you. Make friends in the gym, build connections and this will further enhance your journey! 5. Have fun - Find something that works for you, and prioritise enjoyment in your health and fitness endeavours. There is no one size fits all. Training programs should challenge you and push you (at times), but they shouldn't be entirely unenjoyable and miserable. <> #becauseyourworthit #TeamJPS #RaisingTheStandard

21.01.2022 Lifting for Life eBook is NOW AVAILABLE for purchase! There’s an awful lot to think about when it comes to training: Volume; Intensity; Training Frequency; Exercise Selection; Rest Periods; Rest Days; When do I Deload? In fact, what even is a deload? The list goes on and on, author @d.p.barros answers all these questions and more! ... As we can see there’s plenty to juggle in the realm of training alone. Sprinkle in some other variables, however, such as nutrition, stress, the role of sleep or alcohol, and it’s no wonder that people fail to know which way to look and what variables to prioritise. Time and time again we see hard-working individuals continue to run into dead ends with their training, be it through injury, pain or simply a stall in progress, due to focusing on the wrong factors. Because of the complexity of trying to influence the inner workings of a biological organism, it is common for coaches and trainers alike to simplify training down to its bare-bones. This results in approaches where Volume, Intensity and Frequency become the only things that matter. This simplification suggests that training exists in its own special bubble, unaffectedby everythingelse going on inourlives. As we highlight in this book, this is hardly the case. We are complex beings, existing in complex systems and we have many, many moving parts. To improve training outcomes, we sometimes have to look beyond training to see how it fits in with the rest of this system we callLife. This book will show you how to do that! Head to the link in our bio and receive $10 off over the first 48 hours!!! #TeamJPS #RaisingTheStandard

15.01.2022 Aaron is Mr Consistent epitomised. He is a creature of habit and a man of routine if ever there was one. He has been working with the team at JPS for over 6 years now, and its time for his routinely 6 month photo check-in and update. Before is June and after is this week. Clearly packed on some size and looking leaner too! Despite being out of the gym, Aaron made do in his outdoor home gym. Regularly crushing the iron, and always skipping leg day unless coach @samuel.schepis ...was there to crack the whip. He is also a converted @bulknutrients fan, smacking back his carb+ to ensure he hits his cals! Aaron has been diligent with his training, and even trialled 2-a-day sessions whilst on his break to ensure he capitalised! He is sitting around 83kg currently and is looking to continue to build his physique (not his legs though thanks). We have wrapped up for the year, will deload and then kick things off anew in 2021! #TeamJPS #RaisingTheStandard

14.01.2022 You don’t have to eat every morsel of food on your plate, say ‘yes’ to any and all offerings of food or devour the entire selection at the buffet! Culturally, many of us have been taught not to leave anything on our plate or that it is rude to say no when offered food. Although we should not ignore the historic significance or good intentions behind many of these food-related behaviours, we must also recognise that times have changed. Food is no longer a scarce commodity. In ...fact, it is available in abundance and its constituents have evolved markedly, consisting of highly energy-dense and hyper-palatable Developing the ability to save some for another day or stop eating when satisfied is not only useful skills but are highly necessary in today’s obesogenic environment. Practice sharpening these skills and over time you will become a nutrition ninja! #TeamJPS #RaisingTheStandard
