We’ve had a couple of cases already If you’ve seen your pet playing with a snake, or in the vicinity of a snake, please contact us immediately (even if they’re not showing any signs). We can run some tests in-house to check if they have been bitten. Every single minute counts when it comes to Australia’s venomous snakes!

07.01.2022 WARNING: RAT BAIT We’ve been inundated with accidental rat bait poisonings in dogs and cats over the past month as we all try to fight this mouse plague. Signs to look out for that are suggestive of your pet being poisoned include lethargy, pale/white gums, trouble breathing, swollen abdomen, blood in urine or faeces and/or bleeding from mouth/nose. It’s important to keep in mind that even if bait is placed in bait stations, mice can still drag the bait out into the open and pets sometimes view them as a fun puzzle with tasty treats inside!

06.01.2022 Most people don’t know that lollies are also toxic to our 4-legged friends. Avoid offering lollies as a pet safe alternative to chocolate - your pets would much prefer a doggy treat anyway!

03.01.2022 Been told your dog has had a little too much Christmas ham? This is what we mean when we say that they should have a little dip in their waist. Their ribs should also be easily felt, but not easy to see. Unsure how to shift the weight? Try cutting their calories back by 25% for 2 weeks!

02.01.2022 Absolute power couple of the doggo world

02.01.2022 COVID-19 UPDATE In light of recent events, we have had to make the tough decision to reinforce our closed door policy. The same changes as occurred previously apply: ... We will be collecting pets from your car for all appointments and communicating with you via phone. For this reason, please do not attempt to enter the clinic. The front door will be locked. Please call us first once you arrive, and one of our team will come out to collect your pet. We can no longer accommodate walk ins. All consultations are now via appointment ONLY. Berrigan clinic will run as normal on Tuesday and Thursday mornings, but will abide by the rules outlined in this post as well. Please call ahead to order any prescription food or medication so that we can have them ready to bring out to your car for you. If you are showing flu-like symptoms, have been overseas in the past 14 days and/or have been potentially exposed to somebody affected, please let us know. If your pet has a true emergency, we will still treat your pet but will take extra precautions to keep our team safe. DO NOT BREAK QUARANTINE! Please avoid cash payments where possible. Payments over the phone, online debit transfers or tap-and-go is preferred. Thank you in advance for being patient with us during this hard and trying time. We understand this may be frustrating, but any exposure to our staff means we are forced to close business for at least 2 weeks. This includes being unable to attend to any emergencies. We feel it is our responsibility to the community to continue to provide vital health care to our pets and livestock, and these extra measures are required in midst of this second wave. We will update you with any changes.
