09.01.2022 COVID-19 Industry Update National Cabinet has endorsed the Freight Movement Code for the Domestic Border Controls Freight Movement Protocol, which aligns t...he conditions for freight movement across the country: bit.ly/2XLxE1d The protocol will commence as early as Wednesday 12 August, with each state and territory to implement individually by 17 August at the latest. The NHVR is encouraging all operators to begin implementing any additional measures within their business as soon as possible. Keep an eye out, as there will still be some small variations between states. Additional enforceable measures include: A COVID Safe workplan with mutual recognition for plans from other jurisdictions Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) when social distancing is not possible Evidence that a COVID-19 test has been carried out no less than 7 days since the time of arrival into a state or territory and not exceeding a rolling 14 days Contact tracing records Effective self-isolation where practicable No passengers, unless required for the purposes of work (for example two up drivers) While mandatory testing is not yet a requirement in all states, the NHVR encourages all drivers to be mindful of their own safety and to start self-testing on a 7 day basis.
