24.01.2022 Emergency callout... Vehicle overheating. Upon inspection it was discovered that an o-ring had deteriorated resulting in a leak in the cooling system. The suspect o-ring was replaced, coolant refilled and system pressure tested. ... Another happy customer back on the road in no time!

23.01.2022 Replacing the cartridge style oil filter and re-torquing the housing cap during a routine logbook service on this 60th anniversary Holden Commodore.

22.01.2022 This customer found themselves in deep waters when they could not remove their rear wheel due to excessively tightened lug nuts. As a result two wheel studs snapped and the third dislodged itself from the wheel hub. The whole wheel hub was required to be replaced in order to complete the repairs. Vehicle manufactures recommend a certain tightening torque specification which is suitable for each vehicle. For this particular case, the tightening torque for the lug nuts on a Lexus IS250 is 103Nm.

21.01.2022 An oil leak can commonly be seen along the timing cover of the Ford Inline-6 4.0 litre engine. These oil leaks are frequently misdiagnosed as a result of a deteriorated and brittle timing cover gasket. This particular customer contacted JRN Automotive for a second opinion as they had been given a hefty quote to replace the timing cover gasket. It was also noted that the previous mechanic had only completed a visual inspection. Upon cleaning the oil residue, it was discovered ...that the oil leak was in fact coming from the power steering mount bolt and the timing chain tensioner. The repairs were successfully completed and the customer was extremely satisfied with the outcome as the repair cost was only a fraction of the original quote they had received.

19.01.2022 This VL Calais had its cooling system overhauled with the installation of an aluminium 3 row performance radiator. Up until the late 1980’s radiators were manufactured out of copper and brass materials. Even though these materials are rust resistant, they are still prone to severe corrosion. Conventional radiators now consist of aluminium fins which are fused to plastic header tanks to reduce manufacturing costs and weight. Alternatively you can opt to have an upgraded unit w...hich also consists of aluminium header tanks. This allows for the incorporation of multi row cores and a more durable setup. 16.01.2022 One of the most overlooked components in a cooling system is the radiator cap. Due to this inefficiency many cooling system problems are misdiagnosed. This customer contacted us because their vehicle was overheating. Using speciality tools, the radiator cap was pressure tested and it was discovered that it was failing to hold the required pressure. Upon replacing the radiator cap, the vehicle was no longer overheating and repairs were complete.

12.01.2022 Brakes squealing, cutting corners? This customer was unfortunate enough to have had their previous mechanic cut corners. It was discovered that the brake pads had been previously replaced without inspection of the rotors. As a result the rotors were significantly below the minimum required thickness. Brand new pads and rotors were installed on the vehicle to ensure a safe and noise free stopping experience.... Be sure to contact us if you'd prefer a shortcut free inspection on your vehicle.

09.01.2022 Are you experiencing a change in clutch pedal feedback? This customer noticed their clutch pedal was gradually losing pressure over a prolonged period of time. After a few days the clutch pedal eventually lost all functionality and the customer found themselves requiring roadside assistance. Upon inspection it was discovered that one of the hydraulic lines had developed an internal tear. As this problem wasn’t rectified immediately, it eventually forced the whole line to rupture. It is important to proactively monitor any changes in your vehicle to avoid the hassle of breaking down unexpectedly!

08.01.2022 HOT! HOT! HOT! Failure to stop your vehicle when it is overheating will lead to further complications. This particular customer found themselves in trouble when wiring components melted and shorted as a result of the extreme temperatures which were reached inside the engine bay. All burnt wiring and plugs were replaced in order to allow for the culprit issue to be rectified. It is important to take note of dashboard warnings to avoid unnecessary mishaps!
