24.01.2022 GREEN THUMBS | As part of their learning our Pre-Primary students grew carrots and a few other vegetables in the gardwns outside their classroom. Once they had grown into beautiful juicy carrots the students harvested them all and made delicious carrot soup which most of the students really enjoyed. Its amazing how good something tastes when you have grown it yourself. Jaxon: That was so good!... Ella-Joy: Its amazing! Maggie: It tastes like real soup. Ariya: I want more. Its yummy! I love it! Krishiv: I want to drink some more! See more

23.01.2022 R U OK? DAY | Thank you to everyone who participated in the R U OK? Day activities today, it was lovely to see a sea of yellow around the school, it certainly brightened our day. A huge thank you to our school psychologists who helped to organise the lunchtime activities in both the Primary and Secondary. The bubbles were a huge success on all campuses and so were the cupcakes. The day also provided the opportunity for our community to ask the difficult question of R U OK?... Who will you ask? 20.01.2022 R U OK? | Its R U OK?Day, a reminder that every day is a day to start a conversation that could change a life. Today we are united in asking the question Are you ok? and being committed to asking it with a genuine heart ready to listen. It has been a tough year for many Australian families, especially those over East, and today we are encouraging our community to learn what to say after R U OK? so they can keep the conversation going when someone says theyre not OK. Theres... more to say after R U OK? Learn what to say when listening with an open mind Learn what to say when encouraging action Learn what to say when checking in Learn how to continue a conversation that could change a life. When we know what to say next we can help someone open up and find pathways to support long before theyre in crisis. Learn what to say next and help us move closer to our vision of a world where were all connected. Head to www.ruok.org.au/how-to-ask

19.01.2022 YEAR 9 HERB GARDENS | Wah! Enak sekali! The Year 9 Indonesian language students have been busy learning about Indonesian cuisine, recipes and their herbs and spices. Students have had several Content and Language Integrated Lessons (CLIL) whereby the cooking demonstrations and activities where done entirely in the language. The Indonesian herbs were in an enclosed environment and watered themselves. This week marks two weeks since the herbs were planted and had grown too big for their bottles! So students took them outside and planted them in the Food and Consumer Studies garden bed which can soon be used in the delicious food served in our cafeteria and Meet & Eat Caf! Luar biasa!!

15.01.2022 R U OK DAY Todays R U OK theme is: Listening. Todays R U OK challenge is: Listen with curiosity. Engage and learn something new about someone you work with. After you ask R U OK?, here are some tips on how to listen effectively:... Listen with openness; suspend your judgments and biases. Take what they say seriously and dont interrupt or rush the conversation. Dont judge their experiences or reactions but acknowledge that things seem tough for them. If they need time to think, sit patiently with the silence. Encourage them to explain: "How are you feeling about that?" or "How long have you felt that way?" Show that youve listened by repeating back what youve heard (in your own words) and ask if you have understood them properly Listen for patterns and for what is not being said; and, finally, Listen with intention: what do you intend to do with the information youll learn.
