25.01.2022 Parents, teach your children to swim by getting in the water yourself. If parents didn't walk, children would never know how to walk!
22.01.2022 Why do young kids NOT run laps around an oval for fitness? Because it's boring!
20.01.2022 This Saturday is BRING A FRIEND DAY. Tell your neighbours and friends and bring them along... An hour of fun and frolic
19.01.2022 Learning to swim with a kickboard is equivalent to a baby learning to walk with a walking frame. Babies would end up walking like ROBOTS
18.01.2022 Parents, teach your children to swim by getting in the water yourself. If parents didnt walk, children would never know how to walk!
17.01.2022 We believe this should be extended to 2019. https://australiaswims.com.au//why-your-child-should-learn
15.01.2022 The last Saturday for Term 1 coming up - A Surprise piece of equipment, meaning lots of fun for all!!
15.01.2022 Next time you walk Id like you to walk with awareness: Do you make a noise when you walk? Do you take small steps? Do your arms swing much when you walk?... If you dont know - start walking in bare feet more often then realise how bare feet walking gives us energy, as: You wont make loud thumping noises when you walk You will take longer steps Your arms will swing more
15.01.2022 Why is Butterfly so hard for muscle bound men and so easy for skinny children with no muscle? Simple, when we have muscle we over use it but when we dont have it we cant use it. Meaning, Butterfly is all about Rhythm not Strength!
14.01.2022 If "Practice makes Perfect" some of us would be "Perfect". Correct? NO! If us Humans could be Perfect we would be Machines obviously we are not Machines. So lets enjoy making MISTAKES! Thats how us Humans Best Learn!!
14.01.2022 An important reminder on why water safety is critical in this vast (and water bound) country of ours.
14.01.2022 If you think you cannot draw, imagine this: You have never seen a car in your life but your daughter asks you to draw a car. So you make it up. You have no preconceived ideas or judgement of what looks right or wrong. Therefore, you can make it look like anything. You have no limits in your mind. You have no self-talk saying, you cannot do that. So your hand movement holding the pencil, does not hesitate or question if a line or squiggle is correct or not. ... This is true drawing. There you go, you can draw! Drawing is simply a mindset or should I say, its the ability to experiment and explore without judging yourself. We develop and grow when others dont judge us. Better still, we develop and grow more when we dont judge ourselves. Oh, by the way, that's also called being a 0-5 year old child. Education sadly takes this away from us!
13.01.2022 Try typing your next email or text with straight or tight or tense fingers. Hard isnt it you stop breathing!! Thats why you cannot breathe comfortably when you run breathe and you will run faster and more comfortably! Thats why you cannot breathe comfortably when you swim breathe and you will swim faster and more comfortably!
13.01.2022 Swimming Tip: When breathing in whilst swimming do you TWIST & CONTORT your mouth to breath-in? If you do, make sure you do that on LAND as well, NOT! ... Of course we dont breath-in on land with TWISTED & CONTORTED mouths, otherwise we would not breath in easily. This TWISTED & CONTORTED mouth STOPS us from breathing in easily!
11.01.2022 This is an old story but it still applies to how we get our kids to go past their limits. As a man was passing the elephants, he suddenly stopped, confused by the fact that these huge creatures were being held by only a small rope tied to their front leg. No chains, no cages. It was obvious that the elephants could, at anytime, break away from their bonds but for some reason, they did not. He saw a trainer nearby and asked why these animals just stood there and made no attemp...t to get away. Well, trainer said, when they are very young and much smaller we use the same size rope to tie them and, at that age, its enough to hold them. As they grow up, they are conditioned to believe they cannot break away. They believe the rope can still hold them, so they never try to break free. The man was amazed. These animals could at any time break free from their bonds but because they believed they couldnt, they were stuck right where they were. Like the elephants, how many of us believe we have reached our physical limit all because we conditioned our bodies to stop at a certain point. Adult elephants often break the rope when terrified or attacked. At JSSS, we find much kinder and gentler ways.

08.01.2022 Consider this: A 40 year old man sits behind a desk working on a computer 8 hrs a day , 6 days a week (on average) vs. ... A 40 year old man climbing trees, swinging in trees, walking, running, jumping, dodging, chasing, hunting for food WHICH MAN IS MORE LIKELY TO HAVE CHILDREN WHO ENJOY BEING ACTIVE?
06.01.2022 We fully support this initiative. In fact, we make it our priority to ensure that ALL of our kids learn to survive in water totally unaided by boards, floaties or other. In this great, water-bound nation of ours we believe every child deserves to enjoy the joy and freedom of the water environments that are so much a part of our culture. https://www.news.com.au///6a931ef649ae33a51b435cb652ddb370

03.01.2022 Kicking a ball has basic fundamentals we havent developed in the 21st Century. Kids & Adults go kick a stick, a scrunched up sock or something like that, as hard and as far as you can and make mistakes. Dont worry about the SPORT (shape of ball) just pick up anything and kick it high, long or hard. Dont line up and be perfect, just kick it as close to your foot as possible! Do it lying down, do it sitting in a chair, do it balancing on one leg. Do it in as many differ...ent positions as possible, with BOTH legs! Have Fun, John
03.01.2022 When driving your car and moving your steering wheel, do you MOVE YOUR STEERING WHEEL with your fingers, forearm, shoulders or neck? Thats correct none of these! We drive with our entire body of little micro movements involving our muscles attached to our sternum, ribs, pelvis, etc, etc.. Its called Integrated Movement with Body Energy! Sounds silly, I know, but its just the way us Animals are wired!
02.01.2022 Swimming with your hands is important or is it? Great body position means less drag and is the easiest way to generate speed. Not hands pulling!
02.01.2022 This is something we have a clear commitment to teaching. In a country where water surrounds us, we believe that EVERY child should be safe and free to enjoy all that water activities offer. https://www.theage.com.au//majority-of-children-quit-swim-
01.01.2022 A great video on how to be be a better parent. https://www.youtube.com/watch?time_continue=27&v=YoMg4ivJbao
