25.01.2022 Recently we celebrated 10 students completing the Thrive program in Mandurah, which was a great result especially with the CoVID interruption. We had a great and well-deserved spread for lunch and showed off the colourful Care Chair the students decorated for a space in the Health Hub as well as viewed the video presentation the students made. They interviewed, filmed, edited and produced providers in the Peel Health Hub - explaining all of the services that are provided there. This was their community project.

05.01.2022 As part of the Busselton Engagement and Transition Leadership Program, students are challenged to work together on a team project each year. This year the students accepted the challenge of learning how to fix and repair bicycles. The South West police department kindly donated 13 bicycles for the students to work on and together with Phil Holt, a martial arts trainer from Bukido Tajitsu Dojo in Busselton, who previously worked as a motorcycle repairer for Harley Davi...dson, provided the students with the knowledge and guidance required. The students all worked hard on their chosen bikes and then worked closely together as a team to complete the remaining four. The students chose to donate the remaining bicycles to YSW and the Busselton Youth centre. Mathis Wieler, a social worker from the YSW team accepted the bikes and commented on how useful they would be in enabling his team to use the bikes to take clients out on excursions. Ralph Sohns a Youth Development Support Officer for the City of Busselton, accepted the other two bikes and plans to run two competitions with their clients using the bikes donated as a prize. The team project resulted in a very positive outcome for the students, increasing their skills, communication, confidence and most importantly their mental health, as they now use their bikes as transport to get to and from their leadership course.
