24.01.2022 Hello Basin Triangle cycling community!! Thanks for frequenting our fantastic Basin Triangle shopping precinct - we it here and are very proud to share it with you! However, because this great space attracts people from all over, shop-keepers and locals are finding parking challenging. While we're working together to find solutions to the various needs, you might be able to help!... Although parking signs state 2hrs, if you are riding the 1in20 or spending awhile at a cafe, check out the nearby parking areas to allow locals easy access for post / shopping needs, particularly in the lead up to Christmas. Nb. the centre triangle carpark (see below) is shared with park-goers, so look out for our little people. Boronia station's a short & easy ride away for another option Safe, user-friendly spots to keep your bike are also very limited (which we're working on too!) Do be mindful of post office box users and other shopfront and pedestrian needs. If you would kindly share to your networks, that'd be great. As always, comments, suggestions and positive attitudes are most welcome! #LoveTheBasin #GoLocal #BicycleNetwork

15.01.2022 Great celebrating end of year and chatting future with these fine young men at Miller Park Tennis Club today! I must say I really enjoyed seeing their enthusiasm and hearing the great ideas in the pipeline. Topped off with a spot of celebrity tennis. Well local celebs. Ok, a polly and a chick in boots! Haha, good thing I wasn't elected for my tennis ability!... Jackson Taylor MP See more

10.01.2022 Good morning Basinites, and visitors from further afield! For the returning tourists and cyclists, locals and business-owners at The Basin Triangle, parking is proving to be an ongoing and increasing issue ... If I could put out a gentle reminder for users of this great spot to be very aware of parking times and suitable places for bicycles, especially in this busy season. I am pursuing this with Council but The Basin precinct is not alone with this issue, so I ask for patience and consideration for others as we all work together towards solutions. And I'd love to hear your thoughts and comments but as this can potentially be a heated discussion, please aim to be respectful Rainy Day Books Basin Post Office 1 in 20 The Basin Pantry The Basin Bakery Ralf Fisch Fine Jewellery The Chocolate Dragonfly The Basin Free Range and Grass Fed Meats Allure Hairdressing Svaks Passion for Cake and Coffee #LoveTheBasin #GoLocal

09.01.2022 Here's a read for your morning cuppa 'Tis the first time I've seen in print "human consumption" listed before "population growth", finally! Backed by the alarming, "Consumption...has grown from 73% in 1960 to more than 170% today"!! "Environmentalism has become weaponised as a political ideology, rather than properly viewed as a universal mode of self-preservation"... 06.01.2022 New Year's Eve 2019 feels strangely like yesterday, yet with so much more than a year in between. My thoughts to all who have suffered this year, in the many, many ways suffering has emerged. May the lens of 2020 help us see clearly as we journey 2021, together.... (and yes, that is an octupus. with good reason.) Image credit: Saeed Khan/AFP via Getty Images.

04.01.2022 With the 7th dump in months reported today, it's obvious that the easing of restrictions is not enough to resolve this issue. Whilst it's not my ward specifically, this is a serious public health concern and destructive to the health of our waterway. I am grateful for community members being our eyes and ears, but having been that myself I realise they just shouldn't have to time and time again. The nearest waste disposal station is East Doncaster, for registered users only.... I'm of the mind that a free waste disposal station is required here and will keep pushing for this. Let's not have an 8th event.
