18.01.2022 The following video is a small compilaiton of Art Activities when social distancing was not a requirement....Thank God for the internet and online projects which enables artists to still participate in their exhibiting and tuitional opportunities while we are in Lockdown.

17.01.2022 Happy New Year to all the wonderful artists, collectors and art appreciators who never cease to be inspired and impressed with the many different and creative art works that keep us all entertained throughout the year. Through good and bad times the creative juices keep flowing and many visual stories are told everyday in every art form imaginable to people all over the world,

17.01.2022 Great day spent with German artist Bill Sass. Bill specialized in landscapes and seascapes. He left Germany during the 2nd World War and spent a lot of time in America doing painting demonstrations for hordes of Americans who were at that time hungry to learn how to master the art of oil painting. We were lucky to have him with us in Australia where he spent the most of his latter life. He loved the Australian outback and still travels in his trusty van to the gold and red colours of the outback working his magic with his brush. I had the privilege of doing lessons with Bill and picked up any tricks of the trade and increased my passion with my love of oils.

14.01.2022 Renowned Art teacher Edna Rossell, whose particular speciality was perspective, was a regular guest at the Lockyer Valley Art Society. She gave insight to the crowded attendants, who were often used ,to demonstrate the rules of perspective. Past President, Jack Faber, who I am sure will be remembered by many for his many years in the chair and myself who happily managed the Secretarial duties of the very active group that thrived into 2009.

13.01.2022 Time to play with Gel Pens. A drawing persons dream. Great for highlights and outlines and delicate designs. Gouche and Metellics went into this fun creation.

09.01.2022 My favourite collage and acrylic artwork that has been hiding in my back room for 16 years now hangs in pride of place in my Art Room.

08.01.2022 Playing with Gouche..another of the mediums that are made to go with watercolours. Always whispered in a questioning way, students are unknowing of how exactly Gouche is used. I was fascinated with its colours and application when used in conjuction with watercolours. I also trialled a couple of ranges of Metallic, glitter and Pearlesent watercolours, the results were very impressive and could lead to a variety of uses. More to come on this medium.

06.01.2022 Another Schroom painting, watercolour. Enjoying playing with the watercolours as a change to my favourite medium.

06.01.2022 A very interesting exercise in combining foam balls, mirrored bits, diamontes on a velvet lavender background kept me out of mischief for many hours. A final glazing made this a very attractive ornament to hang on the wall or complete it with a stand on the rear of it to stand it on a bench if desired. Acrylics were used and a half a foam egg for the base.

04.01.2022 Also enjoying Watercolours with some of the cheaper sets of Watercolours that are perfectly suited to play with and used along with missing colours in my very mixed bag collection of watercolours provided an interesting array of mediums to play with. Also inherited another two beautiful white Poodles over Xmas to join the clan. At least these don't cost anything to feed.

02.01.2022 Thought you might enjoy this hack. A very simple home made palette made from scraps around the house, The main base part can be made out of any old plastic lid from disused buckets. The paints containers, fashioned from lids off bottles, can be added with a little glue or hot gun glue to hold your paint mixes. Very cheap to replace and all it requires is a hole cut in the base for your thumb, to enable you to hold it securely as you paint.. Happy painting...

01.01.2022 Well known personality,Jack Faber lost his battle with ongoing health issues this week and was farewelled at St Patrick's Catholic church in his home town of Laidley yesterday. Jack was a keen watercolourist and became involved in the art scene after he retired. He teamed up with Bill Blake, a councillor who worked tirelessly to open up his beloved Laidley with the addition of the first official incorporated Art Group in the district, I worked with Jack in the latter part... of his life and we became a team that worked together over 17 years to manage the Laidley Art Society Inc, It was my privilege and pleasure to work together with a like minded supporter of the Arts in the growing regional district in the Lockyer Valley. Many art members who joined in the art activities over those fondly remembered years will remember the many fascinating and tuitional days spent at the Laidley Cultural Centre. Jack suffered with Dementia and was cared for in Karinya in his last few years. He will be fondly remembered and sorely missed by all. The long reaching fingers of Covid 19 prevented the attendance of more than 40 mourners at the service which was held this week. See more

01.01.2022 This little cutie is enjoying his gourmet mushroom treat. He is part of a themed set that will be available for sale in the New Year. Ideally sized to help people with limited wall space to hang collections.
