22.01.2022 MEET OUR TEAM: Hi guys, we thought we were overdue for a bit of an introduction! We’re Jody and Marcus Miltenoff, the father and son team behind Jujubes South Australia. Over the years we’ve been working hard to restore and rebuild our farm at Cambrai. Fast forward from the year 2000 (when we first picked up the keys for our property) to 2020; We have been busy planting one of the first high density trial orchards of jujubes in South Australia. ... In the process, we have also built (with the help of our AWESOME family and friends) a purpose built nursery for tree propagation. Our shared vision is to help grow the emerging jujube industry and to increase the availability of the popular varieties of jujube here in Australia. We hope to continue building a community of like-minded jujube-lovers, where we can share our passion for this amazing tree and its produce. 18.01.2022 KNOW YOUR JUJUBES - CHICO: Meet the cheeky Chico fruit! This variety of jujube looks a bit like a miniature apple, with centre dimples on the top and bottom and a flat to oval shape. The Chico has a crisp and crunchy texture and we reckon it's definitely a 'more-ish' jujube - great for a healthy snack (it's packed with vitamin c!) and best eaten fresh. Check out the evolution of our nursery stock from a baby Ziziphus rootstock seedling, to a young Ziziphus tree and then, finally, the grafted Li jujube variety putting on a show of green. Our potted trees will be available from the end of February 2021 onwards. Depending on your location in Australia, we can also send bare-rooted trees to you between June-August 2021. It might not look like it, but these tiny plants we're cultivating will grow to mature trees of up to 7-10 metres high.

The ABC Australia team joined us as our first beers came off the line at Pirate Life Brewing and on the farm at our SA Jujube Growers Association meeting. The best bit of our meeting? Taste testing the array of jujube products from near and far! From vinegars, pressed juices, mead, cakes and gourmet pastes, to freeze-dried jujubes delights from Ben at Sunlands Jujubes., Dave and Heidi from Black Sheep Produce - Australia and Graham and Anne-Marie from The Food Forest. We've packed up our last shipment and and are about to begin the process all over again for season 2021. 02.01.2022 Spring is here! Although our orchard has been bare over the last season, life is still ticking over beneath the soil. During dormancy, we‘ve been taking the opportunity to prune and re-pot in the nursery, ready for the bloom of spring. From late October-December our orchard will be flowering. Fruit will then begin setting and ripening ready for picking usually by the beginning of March. We've also been using the time in the quieter months to work on some pretty cool jujube projects...so keep your eyes peeled in coming weeks and months!
