21.01.2022 Dear Parents and Caregivers, Please note that there is numerous lost property items in the school office that have been unclaimed. Many of these items are jumpers and hats that do not have names on them. If your child is missing any items please check our lost property box as soon as possible. We also ask that names are written on all items of clothing and lunchboxes so that lost items can easily be returned to their owners. Thank you for your cooperation.... Regards, Julia Creek SS

17.01.2022 A big Congratulations to Lucy, who trialled for the North-West rep Netball team, after gaining a spot in the Mid-West team. Lucy played against other students from Mount Isa and Central West, and by all accounts had a great time in Hughenden. I know Lucy would have represented our school very proudly. Unfortunately, Lucy did not make the North-West team, but it certainly gave her some inspiration to continue to play and after speaking with Lucy today, she was very excited to be able to play more when she goes to boarding school next year. Congratulations again Lucy!! Ben also made the Mid-West team as a shadow, but due to everyone competing, Ben was unable to attend. A great effort also by Ben to have made it so far.

05.01.2022 This Friday, 2.30pm we are holding a cupcake stall to fundraise for the Matthews family, a wonderful family in our Julia Creek community who are in need of love... and support at this time. A little of their story is below. Cupcakes will be $2. Correct change appreciated as limited change will be available. Help support this family and enjoy a treat to start your weekend .................................... About the family. Ingrid and her daughter Olivia travelled to Townsville over 100 days ago. Olivia had her redo of Nissen Fundoplication surgery on the 22nd April 2020 in Townsville hospital. It was to stop her reflux as it was so severe she would aspirate it into her lungs, choke and turn blue. It was meant to be a two week stay but has unfortunately turned into a 100+ day stay due to developing complications from the surgery. She has now been diagnosed with Dumping syndrome, both early and late dumping which causes her to have hyperglycemia followed by severe hypoglycemia accompanied by many horrible symptoms. The specialists have tried many different medications and dietary changes with minimal effect. She is now also fed continuously by a feeding tube into her small intestine at night. Ingrid her Mum has been by her side the whole time in the hospital with only seeing her other children once and husband a few times due to the extreme distance between the hospital and their home near Julia creek. The specialists are baffled and uncertain what her future holds. They have not seen anything like it in their time practising. They have consulted Brisbane and America with both suggesting similar things that they are already trying.
