25.01.2022 Thank you to everyone for helping to achieve these low numbers by following the rules, doing the right thing and staying safe.

24.01.2022 I am so proud that Andrews Labor Government is rolling out 3 year old kinder across Victoria. Check out Jordan Crugnale MP and Justine Clarke having a chat about this and a song along!

23.01.2022 Snow yesterday, this rainbow today - I Ballarat weather!

23.01.2022 Good news again with low numbers across Metro Melbourne!

23.01.2022 Snow is so magical - it brings out my inner kid! So much so I made a snowDan!

22.01.2022 Tonight I was thrilled to join the Ballarat Football Umpires Association for the Sleep's Plumbing Season Launch. The 2021 launch put a spotlight on female members, including the BFUA's involvement in female football across the region, as well as the pathway for female umpires to the AFL. It was amazing to hear from AFL Goal Umpire Chelsea Joffey about her brilliant career. At present BFUA have only have 10% females in their membership, a figure they are very keen to grow.... This event kicks off the 2021 footy and netball season with round 1 being played across all three leagues on the weekend of 16-18 April. Wishing our umpires, players, coaches, trainers and supporters a fantastic footy season and a reminder to always respect our umpies. Great to see Central Highlands Water and Ballarat Jeep supporting the BFUA as sponsors. Ballarat Football Umpires Association Ballarat Umpires

21.01.2022 Licorice is our 13 year old Lab/Kelpie/Bitza, he joined our family when he was just 16 weeks old. For us he was the cutest dog at the Ballarat Animal Shelter and adopting him was one of the best decisions we ever made. Today is #DogsInPoliticsDay but everyday for Licorice is a politics day, from letterboxing to putting up garden signs to standing on polling booths - he has done it all! But most days it’s just him being there to keep things calm and provide companionship. Dogs really are the best! #KeepAusPetFriendly

20.01.2022 I am so pleased that the Andrews Labor Government has announced nearly $400,000 in Live Music Venues Program grants for iconic Ballarat venues to support them through the challenges of COVID closures and restrictions. The investment will protect our grassroots live music scene, save jobs and music businesses. Michaela Settle MP and I are thrilled Volta, Trades Hall Ballarat, The Eastern, Hop Temple and The Main Bar are among 106 recipients across the state that will share in... grants totalling $9 million through in the first tranche of the Victorian Live Music Venues program. These grants and initiatives will help local music venues, businesses, musicians and other music industry workers get back on their feet and ready for a robust COVID Normal future. By supporting local live music venues we are ensuring that musicians and artists will have places to perform, venues can stay afloat and audiences will have venues to go to to: and local talent will continue to by nurtured and supported well beyond this pandemic. Thanks to Chrissie and Matt Stone from The Eastern Hotel for hosting us today.

19.01.2022 Lots of people from across Ballarat stop me to ask how the Premier is going with his recovery, following his fall down the stairs on the morning of Tuesday 9 March as he was heading to work. Dan has recently posted this update

19.01.2022 Spring in Ballarat and we have snow

19.01.2022 Today latest numbers are 10 new cases (+5 from yesterday) and sadly 7 deaths. The 14 day rolling average is now 18.2 for Victoria. Once again thank you for all that you have given up, now we just need to stay the course, keeping following the rules and focus on moving towards a COVID Normal. Stay safe everyone!

19.01.2022 Great to see the Foodbank Victoria Farms to Families program mobile market truck in Wendouree today and being utilised by so many community members. Each month the mobile food truck visits Wendouree offering clients of local charities access to a range of free, nutritious and fresh produce. Today’s offering included pumpkin, zucchini, broccoli, carrots apples and pears. With fresh produce so important to health and well-being, the mobile truck is delivering more food, to more families in need.

17.01.2022 Breaking news- Premier Dan Andrews update on Christmas visitors, returning to work, sport and public events, cinemas & galleries, weddings & funerals and the wearing of masks outdoor and indoor! Today, because of the efforts of every Victorian, that’s exactly what we’ve been able to achieve. For those keen to get on and plan how many seats there’ll be around the table, I won’t waste another second. ...Continue reading

15.01.2022 Pleased to see the 14 day rolling averages continue to decrease - bringing Metro Melbourne closer to an easing of restrictions. Stay strong as the plan is working and the careful, cautious and COVID safe reopening up is getting closer. Sad to hear of five more deaths. My deepest sympathies to the families and friends who have lost loved ones.

14.01.2022 Today marks the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women. We wear orange to shine a light on the need for funding, essential services, prevention and data that addresses violence against women and works towards its elimination. Did you know? 1 in 3 women and girls experience physical or sexual violence in their lifetime, most frequently by an intimate partner.... Emerging data shows an increase in calls to domestic violence helplines in many countries since the outbreak of COVID-19. Only 52% of women married or in a union freely make their own decisions about sexual relations, contraceptive use and health care. 71% of all human trafficking victims worldwide are women and girls, and 3 out of 4 of these women and girls are sexually exploited.

14.01.2022 Giving blood is safe and saves lives. Inspired by Nikki Ryan many years ago to give blood, it is such a small thing to do that can mean so much. If you can, please donate. The staff at Ballarat Blood Centre in Redan are so friendly and make the process very easy.

11.01.2022 An important reminder to Ballarat’s multicultural communities that the Multicultural Festivals and Events Program (MFE) is still open for applications, however, will close on Wednesday, April 21 at 3pm. 10.01.2022 Outside, so no need for a mask as I go for a walk - but carrying it on me in case I can’t socially distance or I decide to duck into cafe for a coffee. But probably should have brought an umbrella

10.01.2022 Great photos by local photographer Geoffrey James of the Battle of Ballarat between the Melbourne Vixens and Adelaide Thunderbirds. Great win by the Vixens!

10.01.2022 Thrilled to show off Ballarat’s diversity to Minister for Regional Development and Agriculture Jaclyn Symes today. We visited food manufacturing plant Springhill Farm, met with the hard working avian influenza investigators, did a site visit to see the Ballarat Railway Station Redevelopment, we had a viewing of Gov Hub, checked out the Australian Craft Beer Centre of Excellence and finished up at Mitchell Harris, speaking to Alicia Linley about how our hospitality industry responding to COVID restrictions. Fortunately, Minister Symes has promised to come back soon so I can share more important projects with her and so Jaclyn can see first hand why it is so important for the Andrews Labor Government to continue to invest in Ballarat.

10.01.2022 Today’s low numbers are most welcomed. This shows the strategy is working. Hopefully this can continue and the whole of Victoria can transition towards a COVID Normal.

08.01.2022 I was saddened to hear that former Senator and Age Disrimination Commissioner Susan Ryan has died. She was a trailblazing Labor woman, feminist, champion for gender equity and fighter against discrimination. As the first Labor women to serve in the Cabinet, she changed Australian politics and our nation for the better. Australian women are in her debt for the introduction of the Sex Discrimination Act 1984, which outlawed discrimination on the basis of sex, marital status, an...d pregnancy. It is because of women like Susan Ryan, so many women - including me -are now Members of Parliament. We are proud to follow in your footsteps. Vale Susan Ryan.

08.01.2022 Today I joined with Mayor Councillor Daniel Moloney, Ballarat Football Netball Club and Ballarat-Redan Cricket Club members at the Alfredton Recreation Reserve to mark the completion of draining and irrigation works on the back oval - thanks to $740,000 from the Ballarat Council and a $100,000 investment from the Victorian Government. This means the Ballarat Junior Football Netball Club, the Ballarat Storm Junior Football Netball Club and the Ballarat Redan Cricket Club now have a significantly improved playing surface on oval number 2, allowing more players on the field more often. The Andrews Labor Government is also investing a further $3.7 million into Alfredton Recreation Reserve upgrades with the completion anticipated for August 2022.

05.01.2022 I am committed to securing manufacturing jobs in Ballarat, that is why I am so pleased that Alstom workers are on the job at Bombardier working on VLine VLocity train maintenance. This job saving deal supported by the Victorian Government, Alstom, Bombadier and the Unions will retain highly skilled transport manufacturing jobs in our community. Workers from Alstom have been redeployed to Bombardier for up to two years while work continues on the X’Trapolis 2.0 design. Thanks and well done to the AMWU Victoria, ETU - Electrical Trades Union of Australia, Victorian Branch and RTBU Victoria

05.01.2022 Today I joined with Minister for Agriculture Jaclyn Symes at Springhill Farm in Delacombe, one of 100 businesses across Victoria to receive grants under the Victorian Government Agricultural Workforce Plan. Springhill Farm is a family-run food manufacturing business based in Ballarat that produces sweet snacks under its own brand and contract manufacturing healthy and delicious biscuits, snack bars and balls! Springhill Farm has received a grant to install a new packaging r...oom, more washbasins, and a range of additional equipment to allow greater physical distancing between to employees and to retrain employees in COVID-SAFE practices and the use of new equipment. Applications for Agricultural Workforce Plan Grants have been extended and will now be accepted until the end of 2020, helping support businesses with adaptions through the Summer harvest season.

04.01.2022 A very special night with the Ballarat Malayalee Assocation (Bma Ballarat) celebrating the Spring harvest festival of Vishu and Easter. I continue to be struck by the generosity, joy and kindness of Ballarat’s Malayalee community and thank them for inviting me to share this significant celebration!

03.01.2022 Family violence is a significant issue in our community and we are supporting families impacted by it. The Central Highlights Orange Door in Ballarat has helped more than 6000 people including more than 2000 children and young people since opening six months ago. We’ve established this service in Ballarat to ensure that women and men in our region can access help and support for family violence and the wellbeing of children and I encourage anyone who needs that support to ...reach out. 03.01.2022 I was delighted to join with more than 300 people for the Dementia Australia Memory Walk & Jog fundraising event at Lake Wendouree that raised more than $30,000. In Victoria, there are an estimated 121,000 people living with dementia and without a medical breakthrough, this number is expected to increase to an estimated 300,000 people by 2058.... The Memory Walk & Jog series raises much-needed funds for Dementia Australia and helps provide invaluable support, education and resources to people living with dementia in Australia, their carers, families and friends. Congratulations to everyone who walked and jogged and a huge shout out to the amazing fundraisers including Team Popeye and Sienna Cini.

02.01.2022 Rest In Peace Helen Reddy- Turn up the volume and sing it loud for Helen I am woman, hear me roar In numbers too big to ignore And I know too much to go back an' pretend... 'Cause I've heard it all before And I've been down there on the floor No one's ever gonna keep me down again Oh yes, I am wise But it's wisdom born of pain Yes, I've paid the price But look how much I gained If I have to, I can do anything I am strong (Strong) I am invincible (Invincible) I am woman You can bend but never break me 'Cause it only serves to make me More determined to achieve my final goal And I come back even stronger Not a novice any longer 'Cause you've deepened the conviction in my soul

02.01.2022 Regional Victoria 14 day average of new cases is now below 1. Thank you to everyone for continuing to stay safe by following the rules, washing hands, wearing masks and maintaining social distancing. Pleasing to see the Melbourne metro 14 day average continues to decline, but also saddened to see the loss of another 8 lives to this wicked virus.

01.01.2022 We’re expanding support for Victorians in need of food and essential supplies during the pandemic with an investment of $11.3 million over two years.
