25.01.2022 Poor George has always been vulnerable to falling for conspiracy theories so there’s nothing new here. To see him attacking Queensland and Australia’s world-leading COVID response is nothing unexpected. The good news is most people in Mackay tune out when he starts peddling silly rubbish like this. I couldn’t tell you the number of people who came up to me during the campaign to say how grateful they were to be living in Queensland and Australia, where we’ve had strong leaders like Annastacia Palaszczuk that have followed the medical advice and kept us safe.

24.01.2022 Stay safe please everyone - we’ve got a severe thunderstorm warning. More here: http://www.bom.gov.au/products/IDQ21033.shtml

24.01.2022 Confirmed: Deb Frecklington and the LNP would have opened our border to Victoria and NSW months ago right as the second waves of COVID were taking off.

24.01.2022 It was a pleasure to co-host a small business roadshow in Mackay recently and meet up with a bunch of passionate small business owners. I listened to their challenges and concerns and we discussed how best as a state Government we can support them now and in the future. Small business owners put their heart and souls into what they do, and the disruption over the past year has been unsettling for many.... The good news is that so far we have provided $2.3 billion in tax relief, cash grants, electricity rebates and loans that have supported businesses to keep 334,000 Queenslanders in work through the pandemic. Our next step is rolling out our Big Plans for Small Businesses programme which will build resilience, invest in businesses with significant growth potential, and create Queensland based jobs Di Farmer MP #supportingsmallbusinesses #BuyLocal

24.01.2022 Welcome news today: Australia's medical regulator has approved the Oxford University-AstraZeneca coronavirus vaccine for use in Australia This is a crucial milestone in managing our health response to the pandemic. The Therapeutic Goods Administration (TGA), which is one of the strictest and most respected regulatory bodies in the world, says the vaccine will be manufactured in Australia and rolled out to over 18s from next month.... The vaccine is safe and it will save lives.

24.01.2022 This is exciting news! Early construction works on the Great Barrier Reef Arena are set to begin next month This new arena at Harrup Park, being funded by the Palaszczuk Government, will provide Mackay with a world-class entertainment venue, wonderful community facilities for local families, and boost our gross regional product by around $14 million. I know we are keenly waiting for the finished arena and it’s great to hear that the project team is working hard to attract m...arquee events and big names like the Brisbane Heat cricket team and AFL team Gold Coast Suns to our region. It’s also very encouraging to know that local contractors will be first in line for the approximate 90 jobs on offer

24.01.2022 Cutest endorsement of the campaign

23.01.2022 Rainbow over South Mackay after a Sunday thunderstorm

23.01.2022 Hot off the press is Mackay's new printed weekly newspaper! The first edition of the Mackay Local News was published today, and is available in newsagencies, servos and other outlets at a cost of $2.50. The paper is published every Friday and features local news, public and funeral notices, what's on, advertising and more. What's more is online news content will be free and not behind a paywall.... I know my local community has been calling out for a printed paper since the Daily Mercury went digital, so this is great news for locals to be more connected and informed. Make sure you like their Facebook page here: Mackay Local News

23.01.2022 Youth crime in Mackay has dropped by 22 per cent in the last year but that doesn't mean we're resting on our laurels. Queensland's biggest ever investment in police resourcing is being rolled out and here in Mackay we'll have: 150 extra police across the police region... A new Youth Justice Co-Responder program where youth justice workers and police visit at-risk youths to ensure they're complying with bail conditions $5 million for a new facility in Mackay for the dog squad, RBT team and other policing services. Even more importantly we'll be focussing on prevention. We need to ensure everybody is able to get into employment and contribute to our community.

23.01.2022 I’m sure this will be very welcome news to anyone with family in Sydney or Victoria - and to many businesses as well. https://www.brisbanetimes.com.au//queensland-to-reopen-bor

22.01.2022 Thank you to all the people (and those furry friends) who have supported me so far during this campaign. The Palaszczuk Labor Government has led us through these uncertain times and now has a clear plan for economic recovery and job creation. Four years is a long time to have a bad government. Now's not the time to risk the chaos and uncertainty of a Deb Frecklington led minority.... Show your support for our Premier at the polls and stick with Annastacia.

21.01.2022 Just imagine how much worse it would have been... The choice at this election is clear: Strong, stable Government under Labor and Annastacia Palaszczuk... The instability of a Deb Frecklington led-minority which will bring chaos and cuts at a crucial time when Queenslanders need stable leadership. See more

21.01.2022 Today we announced an extra 150 police for Mackay and the Central Police region This is our biggest police resourcing in 30 years. We listen to the community and we act. We're also introducing stronger laws to ensure high-risk repeat young offenders are not granted bail, and a police blitz on appealing court decisions, where appropriate, when the courts have revoked bail.... Prevention also needs to be a focus which is why we've begun a new community program, Project Booyah, which will mentor and teach life skills to disconnected youth. All of these programmes are vital in addressing crime but yet when last in Government, Campbell Newman's Assistant Minister, Deb Frecklington, cut 300 police. We can't afford a government which cuts frontline workers such as our police.

19.01.2022 There's only 26 days until the election and the stakes couldn't be higher. Labor has kept people safe during the pandemic and it is only a Labor Government that will rebuild our economy with our economic recovery plan, deliver vital infrastructure and stand up for job security for working Queenslanders. I'll be fighting for secure jobs for local workers if I am re-elected.... And a BIG thank you to all the wonderful people across Mackay who let me put up a sign in their yard today

19.01.2022 Here in Mackay we'll have increased capability to respond to emergencies, including the growing threat of bushfires, under today's announcement for more firefighters. Our firefighters do an amazing job putting themselves in harm's way whether it's fires, cyclones, road accidents or another disaster. It's great to see that a re-elected Palaszczuk Government will strengthen our frontline services by adding an extra 357 firefighters across Queensland to make us safer.... In 2018 we opened the $7 million fire station in Alfred Street which was funded by the State Government. Our investment in the QFRS is in stark contrast to the LNP which plan to cut frontline jobs like our firefighters to fund their election promises. #Julieanne4mackay #Delivering4Mackay

19.01.2022 Construction of the new Olive Downs mine will start soon, creating 1,000 local jobs. It takes our resources investment in Queensland to $21 billion. It was great to be with the Premier today to talk about how this mine will deliver more jobs for our region.

19.01.2022 Did you see this? This is a disgusting attitude towards our elderly and vulnerable. I'm proud to belong to a Government that has compassion and puts the safety of Queenslanders first. Because the Premier has kept people safe we can now focus on our economic recovery plan for Mackay-Whitsunday which is focused on creating secure jobs for locals.

18.01.2022 It’s an absolute honour to be representing the people of Mackay among this 52-strong team.

17.01.2022 Queensland's borders to Greater Melbourne will close from 1am, Saturday 13 February following further Covid cases in Victoria. Read more below from our Premier

16.01.2022 I want to see a strong local manufacturing industry in Mackay. Everyday household items such as cling wrap, bin liners and plastic cutlery can be made from sugarcane from our region - and yet, all these products are manufactured overseas. To support local manufacturing, local jobs, and a future for our kids, sign my petition to Scott Morrison: https://www.megaphone.org.au/petitions/make-it-in-mackay

15.01.2022 Good news for our community - we will invest $6 million to expand the Mackay community mental health service on Nelson St, adding new group therapy rooms, if Labor is re-elected. Providing good local mental health services is something I'm really passionate about. Mental health affects so many of us and I want to make sure anyone who needs treatment and support can get high-quality care locally when they need it.... These upgrades will deliver better care to more people in the community and takes the Palaszczuk Government's total commitment for upgraded health facilities in our region to $19.7 million.

14.01.2022 How beautiful is Cockermouth Island? It's so exciting that from mid next year, full day trips will operate from Mackay Harbour to this picturesque location Earlier this year I announced the Palaszczuk Government would partner with the private sector and support Red Cat Adventures with a $950,000 investment. I want to see local tourism grow, and this new tourism offering will encourage tourists to stay and spend money in our region. Locals will also be able to hop on board the custom built catamaran and enjoy activities like snorkelling and paddle boarding or just explore our beautiful reef.

14.01.2022 This election will be very close. Our Premier has shown true leadership during Covid-19 making tough decisions to keep Queenslanders safe. The Palaszczuk Labor Government's strong health response has allowed our local economy to stay strong and to grow despite this global pandemic, and it's crucial that we stay on the right path.... Countries and cities around the world are still grappling with Covid-19 on an unprecedented scale and we can't afford to be complacement with our health and economic recovery. Now's not the time to risk the instability and uncertainty of Deb Frecklington and the LNP. A vote for Labor is a vote for strong, stable Government which all Queenslanders deserve. Let's do this Mackay

14.01.2022 And there you have it: the LNP are working to put more Greens candidates in parliament this election.

13.01.2022 Having a 'stand-up' beer at the bar is back After a day of getting swooped by magpies while out doorknocking in Mount Pleasant it was fitting to head to Magpies Sporting Club Mackay for a cold one There was lots of enthusiasm for Labor today and our plan for jobs, jobs, jobs as we recover from Covid.

12.01.2022 Clive Palmer reckons he can buy an election for the LNP. Don’t let him get away with it https://www.google.com.au//6fe85320-b9df-49b0-81c1-d510e5f

11.01.2022 Annastacia Palaszczuk stood up against the pressure from Deb Frecklington and the LNP and kept our border closed at a crucial time. By keeping us safe, she's also kept our economy going - just look at the damage done in Brazil where entire mine sites had to be closed down due to COVID outbreaks for an example of what could have happened. Now, we can focus on our economy recovery plan, which involves creating jobs, supporting businesses and investing in the growth of our manu...facturing sector. It's about jobs, not cuts #TeamQLD

11.01.2022 The new Eton Range road is now open to traffic! The four-lane Eton Range Realingment upgrade is a $167 million jointly funded State and Federal government project which will improve safety and congestion between Emerald and Mackay. It will also improve the connections between the coal mines, businesses and ports in our region, and is part of the Palaszczuk Government's $1.3 billion investment in roads and transport in Mackay.... It's great to see new roads like this one and the Mackay Ring Road rolling out across our region. #Delivering4Mackay #Julieanne4Mackay

10.01.2022 Kate is right about this. It’s an absolute disgrace that Clive Palmer is using his millions to bombard people with his lies. He’s trying an election for Deb Frecklington and the LNP - don’t let him get away with it. Call his lies out.

09.01.2022 You might have received a text message from Clive Palmer today spreading rubbish about a death tax. He’s lying - there is no death tax and will not be one under Labor. He’s spending $2m to try to buy an election for Deb Frecklington and the LNP. Don’t let him get way with it - if you hear people talking about this put them straight.

09.01.2022 Fantastic news in time for Christmas https://www.abc.net.au//coronavirus-queensland-b/12914958

08.01.2022 The LNP are weak on jobs and they know it. When they were last in Government 14,000 public servants lost their jobs.

08.01.2022 Everybody's job is valuable. We have to protect our public sector jobs which is why I'm pleased to sign the pledge to ensure our frontline health, education and ambulance workers' jobs are never outsourced.

08.01.2022 1,000 new mining jobs for Mackay are on the way This week the Premier visited Mackay to announce that the Olive Downs metallurgical coal mine has received its final approvals, and construction on the new mine can now begin. I know that mining is vital to our local economy and jobs in our region. The Palaszczuk Government has invested $20 billion in resources projects across our state, creating an overall 7,000 jobs, and with our economic recovery plan we are focussed on cre...ating even more secure jobs for local workers. #Delivering4Mackay #Julieanne4Mackay

07.01.2022 Covid-19 has been a scary time for people with disabilities and special needs. Some have chronic conditions or a weakened immune system which means they are at greater risk of serious illness or death from Covid. On the weekend, Frank and I spent time with a great bunch of them and their carers to chat about how they've coped during Covid.... Many told me they've experienced loneliness and isolation these past few months, but they also told me how grateful they are to our Premier for keeping them safe. Their social gatherings have now resumed, and they remain very cautious with Covid rules and numbers, but it's just lovely seeing them reunited with their friends again #EndeavourMackay #Caringforpeoplewithdisabilities

05.01.2022 More restrictions are easing in Queensland today From 4pm today you'll be able to stand up and have a drink at bars and restaurants. Borders to NSW are expected to reopen from 1 Nov as long as community transmission remains under control... From 1 Nov, 40 people will be able to dance at weddings

05.01.2022 This is a game-changer for Mackay Mackay's biggest ever stadium will be built at Harrup Park and will attract Big Bash games, major AFL games and big name musical acts and other entertainment. The Great Barrier Reef arena will host up to 25,000 people in concert mode including a 2,000 seat grandstand, bringing with it around 90 jobs in construction and 90 ongoing jobs.... This $10 million injection from the Palaszczuk Government will boost our local economy and tourism, and is part of our economic recovery action plan for the Mackay-Whitsunday region. #Delivering4Mackay #Julieanne4Mackay #harruppark

03.01.2022 Always time for a selfie when Annastacia Palaszczuk MP is in Mackay Great to be at Paget again meeting the team at De Goey Contractors - an engineering business which services coal mining, manufacturing and our sugar industry.

03.01.2022 Fantastic news for our region! The Olive Downs coal mine has been given final approval and is ready for construction. This is a vital project that will create local jobs in our region and help drive our economic recovery. I'm very proud to support it. ... Our local mining sector has been the backbone of Queensland's economy during COVID-19 - and we've been able to do that thanks to our strong health response while other countries like Brazil have had to close down mine sites. #MackayJobs

03.01.2022 I agree with Robbie Katter. The LNP may talk tough in the regions but they are doing preference deals in Brisbane to try to put more Greens in parliament.

02.01.2022 Take a look at the underground mining centre simulator we have in Mackay This centre will train workers in mining and allow them to gain their tickets before going on site. It will also help grow the mining industry, and advance research, technologies and safety. I'm proud to have really pushed for this project so I was glad to show it off to the Premier when she visited Mackay this week.... #Delivering4Mackay #Julieanne4Mackay Resource Industry Network

02.01.2022 No need to worry kids - Santa has been given an exemption to travel to Queensland

02.01.2022 Fancy a day trip to the islands right from the Mackay harbour? From mid-2021 a new full-day tour on a 40-seat catamaran will operate from the marina to the nearby Cumberland Islands off Mackay. You'll be able to: Go snorkelling or paddle boarding in the bay ... Explore wildlife and marine life Enjoy a fresh BBQ lunch on the island The highlight will be Cockermouth Island, described as a ‘movie-set’ by Pure Escape owners who have secured a Palaszczuk Government grant to help deliver Mackay’s new tourist attraction. This is something we’ve been crying out for in Mackay and I’m glad we've partnered with the private sector to see this come to fruition. It will create 21 jobs and $1.9 million per year for local businesses and most importantly it will give local families a great day out on the reef.
