24.01.2022 Love this This is a such a powerful message for men all over the world about opening up, supporting one another and respecting women. It’s so important that we continue the conversation around fostering respectful relationships and eliminating violence against women.... Please take a moment to watch Angelou’s story

22.01.2022 Such a great first week of Parliament last week and this week we’re handing down the budget which is all about creating jobs and supporting Queenslanders in our economic recovery.

20.01.2022 The budget handed down today has delivered great news for Queensland jobs and continuing our great work to support families experiencing domestic and family violence.

14.01.2022 Perfect morning to raise money for a fantastic cause and of course, cuddle some of the cutest puppies. Blackout Coffee and Catering were raising money for one of my favourite local organisations, Empower Assistance Dogs. And it was great to catch up with Jaz again who is now studying animal studies at TAFE.... If you didn’t make it down to Blackout Coffee today, you can still donate to this wonderful organisation: https://www.empowerassistancedogs.org.au/donate

13.01.2022 Important warning for parents: Office of Fair Trading has identified six toys as choking hazards and removed them from shelves.

12.01.2022 Violence against women is never ok and we all have a role to play in putting a stop to violence and calling it out.

05.01.2022 Fantastic news for young women - we will be providing free sanitary products in 120 Queensland schools! This is a $2.5 million investment that will make a big difference to students at 120 state and non-state primary and high schools. We're teaming up with Share the Dignity to deliver these sanitary products + a Period Talk educational program #QLDBudget

04.01.2022 Letting Queenslanders know to be on alert when buying toys for Christmas this year. Six toys have landed on Santa’s unsafe list, including 2x plush toys, a wooden number puzzle, a letter puzzle, a magnetic number puzzle and an rainbow circle stacker. Despite these being removed from shelves, everyone still needs to be aware of the dangers of toys with small parts as they pose a choking risk for young children, as well as products with button batteries and small magnets.... 03.01.2022 Domestic and family violence affects everyone. Every postcode, every profession, every cultural background. But for some Queenslanders, home is the most dangerous place to be. Especially now. ... That’s why today we announced $152 million in much-needed support for Queensland communities. Including $34.3 million for women’s shelters, mobile and centre-based support services so that people have somewhere to stay safe. $48.5 million for counselling and crisis services, court-based support, and specialist response for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander families. $11.8 million for specialist sexual violence services. And $8.4 million for women’s health and wellbeing services. This is an incredibly difficult time for everyone - but there’s simply no excuse for family violence. We owe it to Queenslanders fleeing family violence to make sure help is there when they need it. And this way - there will be.

02.01.2022 COVID Update: Queensland borders will open to Victoria and Greater Sydney from 1am tomorrow.

02.01.2022 Across more than 5,600 toy lines there are 6 toys that have landed on Santa’s unsafe list. Make sure you watch out for toys that can be a choking hazard or contain magnets and button batteries this Xmas. 02.01.2022 This will make such a difference for victims of domestic and family violence.

01.01.2022 There’s no doubt this year has been challenging for so many Queenslanders. But through this adversity, Queenslanders have stuck together to keep our community safe. And today the Treasurer delivered the Palaszczuk Government’s sixth budget. This budget is all about supporting Queenslanders who have been most affected by the global pandemic. A budget focused on jobs, investment in our schools, hospitals, and TAFEs. ... Most importantly, it’s about ensuring no Queenslander is left behind. Check out some of the great local announcements for the Waterford community

01.01.2022 The best part of Waterford is our wonderful community. It was great to catch up with Rob from the Logan River Family History Society and Louie from the Logan House Fire Support Network over a cuppa at Extraction Artisan Coffee this morning.
