24.01.2022 To support one of our children’s speech development journey the children brainstormed descriptive words we use to talk about food. To assist our educators to encourage the children’s vocabulary development, we created a word bank display as a visual reminder, when the educators share a meal with the children. #inclusion #vocabulary #sharedmeals #letshaveachat

You could try a Heuristic Play Basket at home, just grab a variety of household items, set aside some quiet time & engage in this experience with your little one.

21.01.2022 Sunflower Week was a great success, everyone at Jumbo embraced it on a deep level because of their connection to Edie, Daniel and Talia. We are thrilled that we raised $106.55 to be donated to CDH Australia.

21.01.2022 Thanks to Rita, one of our fab educators, uploading some of the childrens favourite afternoon tea recipes on Story Park for our families, there has been lots of home baking going on! Lemon Slice became popular at Jumbo when Tahnaya, another fab educator, brought a basket of beautiful lemons in from home that grew on her lemon tree in the backyard. Tahnaya asked Cilla, one of fab chefs, Could you use these in the kitchen? and voila tangy lemon slice has been popular with the children ever since! Might be time to try to grow our very own at Jumbo?! #lemons #citrusfruit #lemontree #lemonslice #afternoontea #staffcollaboration

Joan, a talented educator, who works collaboratively in our Nursery, The Mini Room, has shared some helpful tips to encourage and install Independent Play in Toddlers. 18.01.2022 Starry Night - Kinder Recreation Artist Study this month: Vincent Van Gogh. The kinder children have been learning all about the famous artist this month, first with a sunflower project and this week Starry Night. Using a large piece of cardboard and a reference picture, a group of our kinder children were guided with steps of how we could recreate this artwork. With spirals of blues and beaming yellow stars this artwork surprised everyone with how beautiful it turned out and the children are so proud of it. We hope you enjoy the video of its creation. #vincentvangogh #starrynight #artist

Whilst Im sure you all are super busy balancing working from home / home schooling and keeping the little ones occupied, I know pasta is a favourite dish here with the children. They request it a lot! So, I thought Id share this recipe with you. Being Italian, I cook many pasta dish varieties. 13.01.2022 Recent professional development taught us the value of appointing a "Garden Expert" to further assist us embedding gardening & everything outdoors into our curriculum programs. 10.01.2022 Science Milk Experiment. What you need: Milk Dish soap Food colours Dish or plate ... This is a fun science experiment to do at home because it looks amazing, demonstrates how one liquid can react to another (this is the basis of a lot of chemistry experiments) and it also is a good way to learn about mixing colours! Our younger children are most likely to be satisfied just watching this experiment but if your child is asking Why? Why is it doing that? Heres the answer explained much clearer and more science-ish: Milk is made up of mostly water but it does contain vitamins, minerals, proteins and small droplets of fat. The fat and proteins are super sensitive to changes in the milk and so when the dishwashing liquid is added, a chemical reaction occurs. The soap and fat work hard to join together, which causes the movement. When food colouring is added we are able to witness this chemical reaction occurring. So there you go! #scienceexperiment #colours #fun See more

09.01.2022 Jumbo balcony contemplation some of the kinder children relaxing in the sun deciding what new activities to set up this month in our Jumbo outdoor spaces.

09.01.2022 For NAIDOC week in kinder we created this giant artwork inspired by the Birrarung (Yarra river). We have re imagined the river in its natural state when the Wurundjeri people lived here, long before the city. Back when the water was a beautiful blue, the land alive with animals and forests, when the river was used for fishing and meeting places. Our artwork is a celebration of the land and to remember what has been lost. This is the land of the Wurundjeri people. Alway was. Always will be. #naidocweek #alwayswasalwayswillbe #birrarung

08.01.2022 Sunny days often equate to messy water and messy, messy mud play. A muddy face is often a smiling laughing face . Through creative expression and invention - mud can become anything! Stress reduction - being outdoors in nature can help children relax. Building stronger immune systems - some exposure to dirt helps build resistance to bad bacteria. Growing affection for the stuff on our earth - soil, stones, sand, and growing plants - care and appreciation for our planet .

08.01.2022 What is VISUAL LEARNING? Thank you Anna for giving an insight into your Bachelor of Education studies and a tool that is implemented by the educators at Jumbo. Wed thought wed share this valuable educational approach with our families to implement at home. The concept of visible learning means that learning must be seen and obvious, not assumed. Teachers are aware of the influence they are having on their students and from the evidence of this impact, they make decisions about how to adjust their teaching. Follow the link to Jumbos BLOG http://jumboearlyeducation.com.au/7-tips-to-implement-visu/

01.01.2022 Kinders version of The Starry Night albeit created out of swirling shaving cream and dye! Our hands on Vincent van Gogh artist study continues. The original is an oil on canvas painting by Dutch Post-Impressionist painter Vincent van Gogh. Painted in June 1889, it depicts the view from the east-facing window of his asylum room at Saint-Rmy-de-Provence, just before sunrise, with the addition of an imaginary village. It has been in the permanent collection of the Museum of Modern Art in New York City since 1941 and is regarded as among Van Goghs finest works. #vincentvangogh #shavingcream #texture
