22.01.2022 You have to hand it Edwena Mitchell, she tried and tried and tried to get the Waratah Show Jumping 2020 off the ground this year, but was thwarted at every turn, and eventually has had to pull the pin. Thanks so much for the effort you put in Edwena - it was greatly appreciated.

21.01.2022 A huge thanks to Equestrian NSW and Jumping NSW for the support of Jumping and particularly the Sydney Jump Club.

13.01.2022 Grants Open for Clubs Affected by Recent Bushfires and Other Natural Disasters On behalf of the Recovery Through Sport Alliance (The Australian Olympic Committe...e, Australian Paralympic Team, Commonwealth Games Australia and the Australian Sports Foundation the Alliance), we now invite applications from community sports clubs and others affected during the recent summer of natural disasters. Of course, we understand that much of community sport is currently suspended due to the impact of Covid-19, but sooner or later we will all be able to get back on the track or our playing field of choice, and the Alliance wants to help make sure that affected communities and clubs are ready to meet this need when that time arises. Who can apply? The Sport Recovery Grants will be focusing on the organisations and community members who have been affected by the recent bushfires or in different parts of the country, floods or other disasters - and require assistance to resume playing sport in their community. Suggested grant values are up to $20,000, and priority will be given to applications from volunteer run organisations. We know that natural disasters have a huge impact on the mental health and resilience of affected people and communities. We also know that sport plays a significant role in fostering positive mental health and rebuilding community and individual resilience by bringing people together through a shared interest, and by encouraging healthy physical activity. Of course, we understand that much of community sport is currently suspended due to the impact of COVID-19, but sooner or later we will all be able to get back on the track or our playing field of choice, and the Alliance wants to help make sure that affected communities and clubs are ready to meet this need when that time arises. 13.01.2022 Statement from the EA Board The Board of Equestrian Australia has taken the difficult decision to place Equestrian Australia Ltd into Voluntary Administration. ...Craig Shepard and Kate Conneely of KordaMentha have been appointed Voluntary Administrators. This follows the withdrawal of funding by Sports Australia, which had formed a view that, until the organisation is both representative of the membership and stable in governance and operation, they could not in good faith continue to contribute public funds. Combined with the impact of COVID-19 on our forecast revenue, this places the organisation at risk of trading insolvently. Clearly, the current EA model does not work. The intent of entering Voluntary Administration is to avoid insolvency, which would be disastrous, and to create the conditions for a successful and sustainable equestrian community into the future. Effective immediately the High-Performance (HP) program will be transferred under the oversight of the Australian Institute of Sport (AIS). The HP Panel will remain in place, funding returned to the AIS, and the program will continue unabated in pursuit of equestrian gold at the upcoming Olympics. We have been advised that there will be no change to HP staffing arrangements. The Administrators will take control of the remainder of EA. The constitution is effectively set aside in favour of their powers under the Corporations Act. The operations of EA continue without change at this stage and there is no planned loss of jobs. The Administrator will work with the creditors of EA to determine the conditions for exiting Voluntary Administration. This process is intended to be rapid, envisaged by the Corporations Act to take about a month. This will enable EA to rebuild as a viable, representative, democratic and stable national sporting organisation that is retuned to a focus on sport as quickly as possible. In our sport of so many diverse interests, rarely do our branches, committees, and members share a cohesive view. Disagreement, however, should not be destructive. We should strive to improve the structure, the culture, and the performance all in the interests of greater opportunity, participation and enjoyment. The current Directors have agreed to work with the Administrator to rebuild the organisation as quickly as possible. https://www.equestrian.org.au/news/statement-ea-board

06.01.2022 ENSW ANNOUNCEMENT RE COVID-19 VIRUS In response to directions and advice from government, the Board of Equestrian NSW has taken the very difficult decision to s...trongly recommend that all events be cancelled with immediate effect. The government advice has been to minimise social contact and non-essential travel. The pressure on emergency services means that ambulances may not be available to attend events to treat serious injuries. In this situation, the responsible decision is to take all action necessary not to further burden the emergency services or risk members safety at events. Equestrian NSW will also ask the NSW Office of Sport to underwrite all losses that our clubs and organising committees suffer as a result of cancelling events due to the Covid-19 virus. We thank all our members, organising committees, officials and volunteers for their understanding and support during these unprecedented times. We will continue to monitor the situation and update you all as soon as we have any further information. PETER DINGWALL Board President
