24.01.2022 Another night of great dancing, fun and frivolity. I believe everyone was impressed to see our brand new dancers really enjoying themselves. We wish to advise that we will be dancing next week, Monday 5th October 2020 despite the day apparently being a public holiday. Have a safe and happy week. Please keep smiling and dancing, and please remember that we are still governed by Covid 19 social distancing rules and pre registration conditions.
23.01.2022 Another night of fun and frivolity. As much laughter as there was dancing. Thanks to all for your continued support. If you haven’t already registered for next Monday please don’t forget to do so. Places are filling quickly. Please text your intention to attend to 0418 244 433.
22.01.2022 DANCING WITH ATTITUDE Another night of fun and frivolity. We welcomed back one of our regular dancers and a new dancer. It was great to see you both ladies. Thanks to Olga for mentoring Betty. Last night Peter wanted to see attitude from our dances. This request certainly bought out the thespians in our wonderful group. Absolutely gold star attitude was demonstrated from June, Olga, Barb and Gaye. Followed closely by everyone else on the floor. It was great to see everyone laughing and having fun. We are still operating under Covid 19 restrictions and the terms nominated by the cricket club. Please remember to pre register your attendance and bring your own refreshments. Have a great week, stay safe and dancing if no one is watching.
22.01.2022 BLACK COFFEE OR SWEET TEA? Another night of fun, energetic dancing. A really great group of dancers and supporters enhance the experience. We welcome our new dancers and look forward to seeing you next week. Have a safe and happy week.
20.01.2022 COVID 19. As most people know I still work, running two family owned businesses so I don’t have a lot of time to devote to social media. However, I did receive an unconfirmed notification this morning that one of the local dance groups has closed to allow them to comply with TCC Covid 19 regulations. I stress that this advice is yet to be confirmed, however, if true, I feel that our strict compliance with the current health regulations has been vindicated. Above anything else we must protect the security of this country and it’s inhabitants.
19.01.2022 ANOTHER GREAT NIGHT OF FUN AND FRIVOLITY LAST NIGHT. Please remember that the night is as much about fun and fellowship as it is about dancing. Please don’t ever be stressed or embarrassed if you think you don’t know the steps. With social distancing restrictions and everyone dancing on their own you are your very own choreographer. If you haven’t done so already please don’t forget to register for next week. At this stage we are waiting for the cricket club to authorise us to increase our numbers from 20
18.01.2022 POWERING ON A big night of enthusiastic and energetic dancing last night. Lots of variety and energy expended. If you know of a dance that you would like to see taught please don’t hesitate to let us know. Alternatively, if you know a dance and would like to teach it yourself, Peter would be more than happy to share the headset and give his dodgy knees a break. Have a great week and stay safe and healthy.
17.01.2022 GREAT NEWS. Yesterday it was announced by the Queenslander premier that indoor partner dancing, up to 50 people on the floor, is now legal. This means that we should be back to our normal classes when we start back 18/01/2021. When we return to Townsville tomorrow we will start negotiating the changes with the Cricket Club, owners of the venue we use. Covid 19 cleaning and hand sanitising practices will still have to be practiced. Please don’t forget next Monday will be our last night for 2020. As restrictions will be lifted at midday on the 14/12 we will not be restricted to 20 people. Have a great weekend.
17.01.2022 SANTA CLAUSE IS COMING TO TOWN. Last night saw our last night of dancing for 2020. Thanks to restrictions being eased at midday yesterday we were legally able to partner dance for the first time in many months. 2020 has certainly proved itself to be a difficult year but we have come through safe and sound. We look forward to resuming on the 18th January 2021, same time, same place. We wish everyone a safe, happy and healthy Christmas and a bumper 2021.
17.01.2022 Peter and I have just arrived on the Sunshine Coast and this is my third attempt to post a Facebook update using the WiFi at our unit. First two attempts unsuccessful. We have been absent for a number of weeks for a myriad of reasons. Some good, some not so good. We would like to thank Erin and Dal for their hard work and dedication towards stepping up and keeping the classes going. Last Monday was another full house with lots of energy and laughter. Next Monday 14th December... 2020 will be our final night for 2020. We will resume on Monday 18th January 2021. To acknowledge the patience, tolerance and loyalty of our regular dancers next Monday will be free admission, followed by pizza and a few drinks at 8pm. Dancing before and after supper. 2020 has been a tough year. Please come and celebrate with us. We have managed to accumulate a modest amount of funds, so the night will be complimentary. Looking forward to seeing everyone next Monday. To comply with Covid 19 regulations please pre register your attendance by texting 0418 244 433. I have not attached photos as I believe the attachments were causing my phone to have a ‘hissy fit’. See more
16.01.2022 HOME SWEET HOME. Many thank to everyone for their lovely thoughts and messages during my hospital stay. Glad to report that I am home now, and whilst I have absolutely no complaints about my treatment and care at the Townsville University Hospital I do enjoy my own bed and love the person I share it with. Our trip south has been postponed, however, you will see Peter on Monday. Many thanks to everyone, especially Erin and Dal for their help and support.
12.01.2022 WOMEN ARE LIKE TEA BAGS, YOU DON’T KNOW HOW STRONG THEY ARE UNTIL YOU DROP THEM IN HOT WATER. Peter and I will be absent for another couple of weeks on sick/ business leave. We would like to acknowledge the supreme effort being put in by Dal and Erin to keep the group dancing. If anybody associated with Just 4 Kicks would like to teach a dance at anytime please approach Dal and Erin. Christmas is fast approaching. We would like to organise some sort of ...get together. The Cricket Club, due to Covid 19 restrictions is unable to rent out the hall for groups larger than 20. I enquired about a night out at Stagedoor theatre on Magnetic Island. Whilst some people were keen we appreciate that it is an expensive night out, consequently we have cancelled the booking. We are suggesting that maybe a few of our dancers get their heads together and see if an idea can be hatched for a Christmas celebration that suits the majority whilst still observing Covid 19 restrictions. Peter and I would like to thank you for supporting and understanding our present situation. Most importantly, we are eternally grateful to everyone that has stepped up to keep the group going. Stay well and keep dancing. See more
12.01.2022 Apologies for our absence last night. After a few days of feeling unwell Peter literally bundled me into the car on Monday morning and transported me to the emergency department at the Townsville University Hospital. Despite having private health cover and the Mater being closest to home Peter insisted that I come to the TUH. Within 4 hours of our arrival I was diagnosed as having a bowel obstruction and was being wheeled into surgery. Apparently I dodged a bullet by only a c...ouple of hours. While I was prepared for surgery Peter rushed home picked up the sound system set it up at the hall delivered a key to Dal and rushed back to the hospital. He didn’t get the opportunity to see me before I was operated on, however the outcome was much more positive than expected. I anticipate being here for about five days then home to rest and recover. This means our trip to Coolum has been postponed and you will no doubt see Peter next Monday. Many thanks to Dal and Erin for stepping up and taking over at short notice. Thanks to all concerned for their support. See more
12.01.2022 WE ARE BACK TOMORROW NIGHT WITH ANOTHER FULL HOUSE operating under the current Covid 19 restrictions. There has been some confusion this week regarding contact dancing. The State Government Industry Plans and the Ausdance performing arts Covid 19 plans do not apply to social dance groups. We are governed by the Townsville City Council health regulations which clearly state no contact dancing. Advice from the TCC on Friday indicated that they are aware that some groups are ignoring the rules and as a result will be inspecting and issuing fines. Australia is no doubt the best country in the world to live in. Let’s not put the health of this whole nation in potential danger by becoming impatient and thinking we are above the current rules and regulations. Looking forward
11.01.2022 DANCING TONIGHT We have just had a cancellation for tonight. If you have been thinking of coming back but have failed to pre register this is your opportunity. Everyone welcome under strict Covid 19 regulations. Please text 0418 244 433 for new attendees to register.
10.01.2022 BURNING THE FLOORAnother great night of dancing. To day we would like to acknowledge and thank the efforts of Dalveen and Erin for their consistent and dedicated help. Peter would be under a lot more pressure without them. Again last night we saw the return of some of our regular dancers. Welcome back. We also welcome our new dancers. It was great to see a full house and everyone having fun. Please don’t forget that we are still operating under Covid 19 regulations, so please don’t forget to pre register.
10.01.2022 WALTZ ACCROSS WEST END Another night of energetic fun and frivolity. A special welcome to our new dancers. We look forward to seeing you again next week. As usual many thanks to Dal and Erin for their help. We would also like to thank our long established dancers for the time and effort they are always happy to put into our new dancers. We work on the theory that there is no i in TEAM !
10.01.2022 HAPPY FEET Another full house and a real workout last night. Great to see the return of members of our dancing family that we have missed over the past couple of months. Your enthusiasm hopefully is contagious. When you sit down to have a relaxing coffee this week remember Sweet Tea might be more enjoyable! Have a great, safe week.
09.01.2022 DANCING Despite some changes to the COVID-19 restrictions , NOTHING WILL CHANGE for us until we consult with the cricket club and the applicable health authorities . We only have a few spots left for next week 6/7/2020. Consequently if you would like to participate and haven’t already registered you need to do so ASAP by texting 0418 244 433. We have to concentrate on working on our own business interests this week so this will be our first and final reminder leading up to 6/7/20. Cheers, enjoy your EOFY tasks
09.01.2022 The police have reported a man, they think a dancer, going into craft shops and dipping his testicles into glitter. Pretty Nuts!. Also a range of ladies tampons have been released with tinsel instead of string. Only available for the Christmas period !
08.01.2022 Christmas celebrations. As we all knowthat time of year is creeping up with on us. Due to Covid 19 restrictions we cannot hold a function at the cricket club hall. As a result of only being allowed a maximum of 20 people on Monday nights we have been able to cover the fixed outgoings, but not accumulate funds. After making some calls today I have ascertained that the Stage Door Theatre Restaurant can accomodate us on 12/12/20 at the Ultimate ABBA show. As we are a gr...oup of mostly seniors the cost for the meal and show would be $79.00 per head. Plus the cost of the return trip to Magnetic Island. Stephen, manager of the TCC ticket shop is happy for attendees to pay their individual costs as soon as they wish to. At this stage all we are looking for is expressions of interest or alternate ideas. We extend this invitation to all our past, present and future group members. Looking forward to your responses. 08.01.2022 BACK DANCING Under strict Covid 19 restrictions imposed by all tiers of government and the Western Suburbs Cricket Club we are hopeful of starting to dance again on Monday 29th June 2020 conditional on everyone agreeing to the following terms. 1. That a maximum of 20 people be in attendance. 2. That the hall be appropriately sanitizer before and after our use, at our expense. 3. That we abide by the 4 sqm social distancing rules. 4. That we strictly abide by the non c...ontact dancing requirements, regardless of family/personal connections. 5. All attendees agree to sign the Cricket clubs contact tracing document. 6. That all attendees must register their intention to participate at least 3 days ahead. 7. That everyone understands that Walk Ins are not permitted. 8. That everyone agree to practice hand and mouth hygiene whilst in attendance. It is important to note that 20 people barely covers the overheads so if we are not appropriately supported we cannot continue. We have been requested by the cricket club to be mindful of the time frame we pay for when using the hall. Consequently dancing will officially commence at 7pm going through to 8.30pm. Supper will not be served, however, we will still supply iced water, but not cups. If you are intending to come along please bring your own cup or bottle and a hand towel. To register your attendance please text 0418 244433. We stress that things will be different, and to what extent is unknown. If nothing else we hope we can all enjoy each other’s company and have a bit of fun. If you have any queries please don’t hesitate to call. See more
07.01.2022 ARE WE THERE YES? ARE WE EVER! After two very long days of driving, thanks mainly to endless kilometres of roadworks, we arrived here at 3.30pm on Thursday. This property has a guests apartment within so Peter and I are camping there while we prepare the rest of the house for sale. Before we arrived very dear friends of ours had delivered a bed, TV and a couple of chairs for us to use. We have a very plush bed at home, however the one on loan we are sure was a table top fille...d with rocks and golf balls. Consequently neither of us slept the first night. First task this morning was to purchase a decent quality mattress topper. By the time we did this and went to Bunnings and drove home we were trashed. We summoned enough energy to make the bed with the new topper then put ourselves to bed for the afternoon. Pleased to announce that after a rest and a meal we will probably live to fight another day. Beautiful days and cool nights here. No need for air conditioning. Take care everyone and stay well. See more
06.01.2022 DANCINGWe are back on Monday 27/7/20 at our usual venue, Cricket Club hall, Harold Street, West End, 7pm start. In consultation with our loyal and regular group we will still be non contact dancing, observing the 1.5m distancing regulation. With 15.4 million people throughout the world with Covid 19 and 640 thousand deaths worldwide as a result of the disease we are committed to do whatever is necessary for as long as necessary to stop the spread. We request that if you are not feeling well or have been in a non complaint situation, please stay at home. Please also remember, if you have not done so already, confirm your attendance.
06.01.2022 DANCING TONIGHT. Dancing as usual tonight, still under the Covid 19 restrictions. All participants must have pre registered, observe social distancing requirements and be prepared to sign the cricket clubs contact register. The night will consist of a mixture of partner dancing (without a partner) and line dancing. We stress that the night is as much about fellowship and fun as it is about dancing. Please remember that supper will not be served. 7pm start and depending on energy levels (and Peter’s knees) we are hopeful of going through to 9pm. To those that helped us clean the hall last week we thank you. Your help and enthusiasm is greatly appreciated.
06.01.2022 LOVELY SURPRISE. This morning Peter and I had a surprise visit from Dalveen, Erin and Sandy Price, all armed with good wishes and goodies to spoil us. Your lovely thoughts and best wishes for a speedy recovery for both of us is more appreciated than you will ever know. We thank you for the beautiful Get Well card, chocolates and lovely indoor plant. We both feel as if we are on the mend after a pretty traumatic series of events. Thank you once again and God bless you all.
04.01.2022 WHOOPSIE, I am a day late with this post and a couple of our readers are worried. All is well at Chez Ingram, just very, very busy. Last Monday saw another great night of dancing. The oily hip movement prize goes to June and Barb. Your interpretation of Red Hot Chilli Salsa, was certainly very saucy. Next weeks class is almost full, so if you haven’t registered please don’t forget to do so. To clear up any confusion we will be continuing with non contact dancing. We bel...ieve this is both the legal and responsible action to take. Something that I posted last week for the benefit of our dancers attracted some really surprising feedback from some people that we have never met. The Just 4 Kicks Social Dancing Group is a privately funded group that charges a nominal entry fee to help pay the rent, insurance, licenses etc. There is absolutely no hierarchy or egos involved. We are a happy group that welcomes like minded women and men of any age. We like to think we are a champion team, not a team of champions. Our web page is for the benefit of our group and anybody that might be interested in joining us. It is not a forum for other groups to use to advertise or argue. SERMON OVER Stay healthy, compliant and safe. Keep on smiling and dancing See more
04.01.2022 DANCINGDue to a number of people being away, last Monday night was a little quieter than normal. However, it was great to see some of our regular partner dancers return. We welcome you back. As it is obvious that the pandemic is spreading at a rapid rate we believe that the stance we have taken in regard to non contact dancing is the legal and responsible action to adopt. If we are all prepared to make some personal sacrifices in the interest of the health of our ...nation the sooner the country will return to some semblance of normal. Peter is hopeful of having both of his knees replaced before the end of this year. This will obviously put him out of action for a few weeks. Consequently, if anyone feels they would like to take over the head set and teach, even if it’s only for one dance, please let us know. If we work together as a team we can overcome any obstacles. Please don’t forget to register for next Monday. Thanks to those that have already done so. Keep smiling and have a great week See more
04.01.2022 JOHN TRAVOLTA eat your heart out. Another night of dancing and fun. Last night was a bit like watching the walking wounded at a dance off. Maybe weather related but a few sore knees, feet, backs and hips last night. However, that never stops our group from enjoying themselves. We will be back next week observing strict Covid 19 regulations. Sanitising where necessary and maintaining the 1.5m distancing requirements. Whilst we are not contact dancing we are trying to provid...e variety. If you are a couple you are able to dance side by side in the circle dances. We want everyone to be assured that we take our responsibility to keep everyone safe and healthy very seriously. We have two couples away next week, meaning as I type we have vacancies. If you haven’t joined us for a while please do so. You will be made very welcome. Pre register by texting 0418 244 433. Have a great week. See more
02.01.2022 Very happy to report that we have a full house to commence dancing again on the 29th June 2020. Under the Covid 19 restrictions we are only allowed 20 attendees who must have pre registered. No walk ins are permitted. If you are one of the 20 that either texted as requested or emailed you would have received confirmation of your attendance. If you missed out please text 0418 244 433 so we can include you for the following Monday 6/7/2020. How our first night is going to work out is the great unknown. We might look like a bunch of drunken cowboys, but I prefer to think that we will see 20 enthusiastic Prima donnas strutting their stuff. We look forward to seeing everyone, and at the very least enjoying each other’s company and having a laugh.
02.01.2022 We have had an enquiry from a couple wanting to learn a basic waltz to perform at their wedding. Dancing to What a wonderful world. They have six weeks to learn. Any volunteers to earn an extra few dollars. Could use the hall either before or after classes on Monday nights. If no takers suggestions appreciated.
01.01.2022 WE ARE BACK! For the first time in many weeks, tonight, we were able to dance, heavily regulated by Covid 19 safety and hygiene requirements. We are only permitted to have a maximum of 20 people and social distancing and non contact rules must be abided by. Despite the restrictions we believe everyone in attendance had a great time. It is mandatory that every attendee signifies there attendance in advance. If you wish to attend next week, please text 0418 244 433. Spots are filling fast. Confirmation of your booking will be acknowledged by a . We thank everyone for their ongoing support, and look forward to moving forward.
