23.01.2022 THREE OF THE BEST NATURAL MOULD REMOVERS You might love reaching for the clean smell of bleach whenever you see mould building up in your house, but evidence shows it is not the best at treating the horrible substance. The best goal you can have is to try and prevent mould and mildew from growing in the first place. This you can do by:... Ensuring your home and particularly water sourced rooms have adequate ventilation. Bring sunshine into your home at every opportunity. Open the blinds, the windows and doors. Direct water away from your home (check for leaks and water flow during heavy rainfall). Look for opportunities to install drainage. Dry wet areas immediately. Ensure drainage is kept free-flowing gutters, pipes and trenches. Look for leaf litter that might be clogging things up. Clean indoor plants regularly by dusting the leaves and making sure puddles of water are cleared up. Introduce mould-resistant products into your home (treated paints and building materials, non-organic fabrics). Air your home well after periods of rainfall or humid days. Be aware these are times mould breeds worse. Wipe condensation build-up from windows and walls after humid or wet days. Spray fabrics regularly with a mix of 3 drops Oil of Cloves in 5 cups water and leave to dry completely. Spray surfaces regularly with a disinfectant, antibacterial spray. So what other items can we use to remove mould when it rears its ugly head? We have discovered a couple of alternative ways to get rid of tough mould patches that aren’t going to cause you any grief. 1. Tea tree oil or clove oil and water This combination is usually the most effective method of naturally removing mould. Add 15 drops of your chosen oil into a spray bottle prefer oil of cloves to all the others. Spray onto mouldy areas and leave for two hours, spray a bit more, wipe away. 2. Straight, white vinegar This combination is said to kill around 82 percent of mould colonies. So, if for some reason you’re not into using clove or tea tree oil and want the next best thing, vinegar is for you. Just pop some straight vinegar into a spray bottle, spray, leave for an hour, wipe off with warm water. 3. Vodka And now for something completely different, did you know vodka is great for cleaning? The cheaper the better. Pop some straight vodka into your nifty spray bottle. Spray, leave for an hour, wipe off with warm water. This article originally appeared on Starts at 60.

22.01.2022 I just read this post and had a good laugh. Sending love and hugs to our family and friends in the stage 4 lockdown areas This Stage 4 lockdown is getting old and quite frankly Ive had enough. Ive discussed the matter over a cup of coffee with the kitchen sink, and we both agree that the experience is draining. I didnt mention anything to the washing machine as she puts the wrong spin on everything .... Same with the fridge. He only gives cold shoulder. I asked the lamp, but she couldnt shed any new light on the situation. The vacuum cleaner was rather rude and told me to suck it up Princess. The threshold was no better, it suggested I get over it. The carpet advised me to sweep my feelings under the rug. But the fan was more upbeat and thought that the crisis would soon blow over. The toilet looked a bit flushed and didnt offer an opinion. The wall didnt say a word either, just gave me a blank stare. The doorknob was more forthcoming - told me to get a firm grip on the situation and move on. The front door declared I was unhinged and so the curtains told me to.....you guessed it right - pull myself together. Then the chair told me to table it, and the table remarked , I didnt have a leg to stand on. When I told the table to break a leg, the mirror said that my comments reflected poorly on my thinking . However, in the end, the iron set things straight . She said everything will be fine. No situation is too pressing for long anyways. #copied See more

18.01.2022 Thought for today. How true is this statement!

18.01.2022 How to clean safely with bleach - It is important to remove mould rather than leaving it to grow in your home. Mould gives off toxic spores and vapours that can result in allergic reactions, asthma and flu-like symptoms. If the mould is on something thats super-porous, like a textile, clothing or furniture, theres a good chance it cant be completely removed and it may need to be thrown out.... Non-porous surfaces like hard plastics will be relatively easier to clean, but anything like wicker baskets, textiles, or paper and carpet needs to be thrown out. Bleach can be used to kill fungi but needs to be at a 10 per cent concentration to work. Even at a higher potency, bleach wont penetrate porous materials, so if the mould is growing on plaster, grout or wood, it will kill mould on the surface, but not below it, they said. Bleach takes the colour, or melanin, out of fungi, making it invisible. You cant see it anymore, so you think the bleach has done its job, when thats not necessarily the case. Strong bleach can also corrode tiles and grout, making them more porous, which makes it easier for fungi to return.
