17.01.2022 I'm not sure who needs to hear this today but I have something to share Yesterday evening I went to a book signing, a room full of qualified authors, lawyers, v...ery very intelligent people. Upon arrival I met a lady, similar age to myself, she was about to complete her law degree, works with a very high class lawyer & was very successful. Her & I got to talking, she was telling me all about her career, where she studied, what her plans were etc for maybe like 5-7ish minutes. I was very intrigued, I had studied law in school so wasn't completely out of my depth.. I knew what she was talking about. Anyway she then asked me, "what do you do?" And this is the sad part, I don't completely know why but all I said in the moment was "Oh I just work full time" - A sentence that came out, took about 2-3 seconds & that was it. Now trust me, I know I do more, I know I spend day in and day out thinking about my job and my career. Planning, executing, educating, exploring with the children. I teach children to walk, to eat, to feed themselves, I teach them to sleep in a new environment, I teach them to run, to ride their first bike, to cook, to create, to be kind, and to be careful, to test their limits, to dare to step out of their comfort zone, I teach them to love and to learn, and to listen. And so do you. So next time someone asks you what you do for a living, what you do every day. Don't be like me and undermine yourself, tell them you shape young minds every single day, you teach & you educate. We are more than just childcare workers.. we are brilliant, we are patient and we are educators. Don't let anyone tell you any different, especially yourself.
