20.01.2022 The Year 5 HASS theme for Term 2 is History Comes Alive. As a part of this, the Year 5s combined learning how to write an informal letter, with the information they are learning about child convicts and the early settlement of Australia. The students pretended to be a child convict that had been brought to Australia on a ship, and wrote a letter home to England to tell their parents what it was like. The students wrote superb letters and their eloquence and imagination were a joy to read. To make the letters look a little more authentic, they printed them onto yellow paper in an old-fashioned font and used wax seals and ribbon to make them look old. The students were very happy with the results.
