But your input is essential. Duncan plans to hold a family friendly event to get the ball rolling in coming weeks. 20.01.2022 A message from the Chief of Army, Lieutenant General Richard Burr, AO, DSC, MVO: On 05 June 2020 the Australia Government announced the completion of its succes...sful training mission at Taji Military Complex in Iraq. Since 2014, Australia has trained more than 47,000 members of the Iraqi Security Forces through the joint Australia-New Zealand Building Partner Capacity Program. We effectively contributed to this training mission, which increased the capacity of the Iraqi security forces to degrade and defeat Daesh. Our training and mentoring, based on the professional conduct and team ethos of 10 Army-led Taji Task Groups, increased the ability of the Iraqi Security Forces to plan and conduct their own training. Those of you who deployed on this training mission should be proud of what has been achieved. The Australian Army was supported in this mission by Navy, Air Force and the New Zealand Defence Force. The success of our training was apparent in November 2019, when Australias local partner, the Iraqi School of Infantry, became the first Coalition facility to declare full independent operating capability. This enabled training responsibilities to be handed back to the Iraqi Government. Successful operations to counter Daesh and the ability of the Iraqi Security forces to deliver their own training has allowed Task Group Taji to cease operations. Army will continue to support the Australian Defence Force contribution to the Global Counter Daesh Coalition and provide support to Iraq through contributions to the Iraqi Counter Terrorism Service, and Coalition headquarters. This contribution to Task Group Taji has strengthened the Iraqi Security Forces to provide stability and security for the Iraqi people and added another significant chapter to Armys story. Good Soldiering.

20.01.2022 Honouring our history Former and currently serving cavalry soldiers recognised Beersheba Day with a ceremonial parade at the 10th Light Horse Regiment memorial ...in Kings Park. While it was important to remember one of the last great cavalry charges that took place in Palestine 103 years ago, it was also an opportunity for troopers from A Squadron, 10th Light Horse Regiment to reflect on 2020. "This service allows us to commemorate our past in an appropriate manner and to consider how our heritage shapes how we operate today," Officer Commanding, Major Duane Nurse, said. The parade on Beersheba Day was the unit’s first ceremonial event for the year because both the Old Boy’s Parade, held every April, and the ANZAC Day march through Perth were cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Describing 2020 as operationally focussed Major Nurse said soldiers from the Squadron served on recovery tasks during Operation Bushfire Assist, provided support to WA Police keeping the WA community safe on Operation COVID-19 Assist and deployed on border protection duties with Operation Resolute. A Squadron, 10th Light Horse Regiment operates Bushmaster Protected Mobility Vehicles and provides the Cavalry capability to 13 Brigade. If you would like to be an Army Reservist in 10th Light Horse call Defence Force Recruiting on 13 19 01.
