24.01.2022 MENS OPEN DAY TWO COACHES REPORT. Day 2 for the Yarrabilba men's open had the players raring to put into practice what they had learnt from day 1. Our first game against the UQ rebels started out as a testament to what we could become, matching the opposition for the first 10 minutes with improved defence and rucking that lead to an early 2 all score line before experience widened the gap in the oppositions favour. 12-4 the final result. The start of this game was a real... credit to the effort of the lads to improve. Game 2 was a real lesson in high quality, fast paced Touch footy with the top of the table! Kawana Men's 30's team boasting numerous state and national representative players put on an exhibition of beautiful, flowing, fast touch football. It was a glimpse of what could be for our men, provided we are prepared to put in the work to brin our teamwork up to this level. 14-0 to the Kawana side was a reminder of the work we need to put in, yet we did have a number of bright moments in the game that had the coach looking forward to the future! 16.01.2022 Some amazing games by our mixed opens team today. Only 2nd game together and held there own for first have with experience proving the difference, super proud of their efforts coming up against last year's runners up and a well drilled UQ team. Game 1 Lose v UQ Rebels (6-4) Game 2 Lose v Brothers touch (8-1)... Everyone is super keen to back out tomorrow for our final round games.

10.01.2022 OPEN MIXED DAY Today our open mixed took to the field against a very competitive Gold Coast Touch team, being stunned by an early try our guys trailled early and struggled to match the coast mixed team. Second halve saw our defensive efforts step up and battle out a hard fought 4-2 second halve but the early damage was done. Going down 7-2. Our second game saw us come up against an international team from the Philippines. Again we were slow out of the block and gave up a 6... nil head start. To start the second half we made some positional changes and ask for some leadership and control from our more senior players. Putting in a huge second half to a very physical match up. Showing glimpses of promise again matching their opponent to a 3 all second half. Absolutely a stand out game from the mixed open and cannot wait to build on a solid foundation we have created.

01.01.2022 Yarrabilba Men's open Day 1 at the QLD State cup was a huge thrill and a tremendous learning experience for our team. On limited preparation, but with great enthusiasm, we've seen firsthand the standards that Touch Football can be played at! Against Brothers, we went down 10-1 and were taught the importance of defensive structure and the ability to ruck the ball. Our second defeat to Coolum was 11-2 but there was significant improvement in our defence and ruck with a definite increase in opportunities to score. We’re looking forward to bringing what we've learnt to the park tomorrow! Congratulations to our first Yarrabilba Opens Men's Captain, Vavia Moeara and our first try scorer Jordy Levey! Bring on day 2!
