25.01.2022 GERANIUM BIOKOVA - A low spreading mound of aromatic bright green foliage with pale pink miniature geranium flowers for most of the warmer months of the year. Very easy to grow in gardens, containers and hanging pots.

25.01.2022 NOW IN STOCK - BLUEBERRY The Nellie Kelly Blueberry (Sunshine Blue) is a delightful, evergreen bush that grows to 1 metre, producing pink flowers during the winter and delectable fruit in late spring and summer. The bush is frost tolerant and needs to be planted in areas where overnight temperatures drop below 5C degrees during winter as this helps to promote the flowers. Nellie Kelly Blueberries are suitable for either garden beds or large pots where they will get part sun.... They will last 10 to 15 years and produce up to 4 kilograms of fruit a season. Blueberries prefer a soil pH of 4.5 to 6, so a well drained, premium grade, acidic azalea potting mix is ideal. Keep the bush moist and feed with a slow release, acidifying fertiliser during winter and late summer. Prune the bush vigorously after fruiting, removing up to a third of the bush. Nellie Kelly Blueberries taste delicious and are high in antioxidants, vitamins and fibre!

This low growing perennial will gracefully trail over the edge of baskets and pots, or simply creep along the ground creating a beautiful pale green to chartreuse yellow carpet. And if the foliage isn’t pretty enough, there are also delightful yellow flowers in Summer, making this a very attractive plant all year round. 07.01.2022 With the weather warming up nicely, there’s no better place to be than the backyard. October is a huge month in the garden. With so many varieties to plant, you’ll be struggling to get it all done. So, welcome to October, a fine time to be in any sort of garden. Let’s get into itIt’s time to plant everyone’s favourite tomatoes. By now your soil should be good and ready, so head to Kalangadoo Cottage Nursery at Finley, pick a few varieties and get going. This is the moment ...we have all been waiting for. Don’t forget their mates Basil and French Marigolds. They are great companions, and no tomato patch is complete without them. Try artichoke, beetroots, capsicum, carrots, chillies, eggplants, French beans, leeks, lettuce, sweet corn, potatoes, zucchini and cucumbers! That should feed the mob over Christmas! The soil should be well prepared with compost, organic fertiliser and sugarcane mulch prior to planting to ensure you get the best out of your vegie patch. For some herbs try basil (both sweet and purple), parsley, rosemary, chives, thyme, sage, lemongrass, oregano, and marjoram. Mint is ready to go, but you might want to keep it in a nice sized pot. Mix it up a bit with some summer colour amongst your vegie and herb patch, Why not try some nasturtium, dianthus, Livingstone daisies, verbena, snapdragons, petunias, marigolds, lavender and celosia. These guys are great at attracting pollinators and beneficial insects to your patch.At this time of the year there are so many new seedlings, flowering pots, shrubs, trees full of blossom and native plants available. Vinca, petunias, impatiens, salvia, alyssum, ageratum and so, so many more will become available this month. Sometimes it is like being in a lolly shop - too hard to choose!
