25.01.2022 Happy Veterinary Nurses Day! We love you and couldn’t do what we do without you.

24.01.2022 Dr Scott & Dr Jenni are taking a well earned break from this Thursday to next Tuesday inclusive. During this time we will have the brilliant Dr David Ives on duty. He is a very experienced vet who will provide the care for pets that owners have come to expect from KVS. Business as usual with the exception of TCIs. If you have a question please dont hesitate to call us.

24.01.2022 Every day is cat day here at Kallangur Vet Surgery

23.01.2022 Your older dog doesnt have to suffer arthritis in silence. Talk to us about easy and simple pain relief for your elderly pooch. We are your local family owned vet surgery, open 8:30am til 6:00pm Monday to Friday & Saturday mornings until midday. Call on 07 3204 4332.

21.01.2022 Please don’t let COVID-19 prevent your beloved pets from receiving the care they need! Despite the restrictions and added precautions, this can still be managed. As the outbreak continues, would like to ensure our valued clients that we are maintaining a high standard of cleanliness and disinfection in our clinic.... In doing so we aim to keep our clients and staff safe and we ask you to respect our new policies to help us do our bit to reduce the spread. AT Kallangur Veterinary Surgery, we ask: Avoid visits if you are experiencing flu-like symptoms, or if you, or someone you know, has returned from overseas in the last 14 days. If you fall into one of these categories and require your pet to be seen for a non-urgent illness consultation or an emergency, please ask a friend or family member if they could come instead or request a phone consultation. We also have the ability to collect your pet from your vehicle in the car park, assess, treat and return your pet back to you. For safety and convenience, we have also set up a drive-thru service in our back carpark so we can assess and treat your pet while you wait comfortably in your car. Please stick to your appointment time. If you are running late, please phone and let us know in advance so that we can reduce back up in the waiting room. The fewer people in the waiting room the better. Please limit consultations to one family member attending if possible. Please use our hand sanitiser provided upon entry and after consultation. We also ask to stand back from the counter and maintain a distance between you and other clients. Payment transactions can be done via Eftpos to limit physical contact. We can also process payments over the phone and Vetpay if you are needing financial help. If your pet is on regular medication or prescription food please consider purchasing an extra box ahead of time. Please do not panic but be ready. For now, we are operating as usual and will keep you updated as to any changes that may be implemented. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation, Scott, Jenni & your team at Kallangur Vet.

05.01.2022 If you live in the red zone you need to be giving your pet a paralysis tick prevention product like Bravecto or Nexgard & doing daily tick checks. Weve had a terrible start to the tick season with many more cases in October than the practice saw this time last year.

04.01.2022 We delivered a litter of ten gorgeous Corgi pups yesterday. Here they are in the humidicrib.

03.01.2022 Long hours, poor pay, abuse from clients, intense grief from losing critical patients, euthanasia’s & grieving with clients. These things make working in the industry difficult. We feel a roller coaster of emotions every day and for some it takes its toll and they leave the industry.....or worse. Not only does the veterinary industry have the worst rate of suicide of any profession but it’s at a crisis point. Too many vets are leaving the industry and there is a serious ...shortage in Australia. It takes on average 6 months to find a new veterinarian and a lot of positions never get filled. As a result, practice owners can’t get the help they need in their businesses and are working 50-60 hours every week with no holidays. Burn out & family breakdowns are rife. Today I’m shouting out to every single person in the veterinary industry to say ‘thanks’. Thanks for staying to help animals when so many are leaving. Thanks for putting up with crap pay & working your guts out. Thanks for holding back the tears when another client tells you ‘You’re just in it for the money’, when in reality you’re still driving the bomb of a car you had at uni. Thanks for staying on so animals can get the medical care they need and deserve. Vets and Nurses out there. You guys are amazing. Thank you for being the wonderful humans you are and being the voice for animals. May that little look of love you get from a patient be enough to keep you going through the tough times. Share some love with your vet or nurse when you’re in next. Help me to keep these wonderful people in the industry because a world without vets or nurses is not a nice world at all.

02.01.2022 Freezing canine semen is one of the best things we get to do here at KVS, because sometimes when the worst thing happens, having those valuable lines stored can bring a small amount of comfort at a very distressing time.
