15.01.2022 ’ , , , ’ . We provide recovery strategies that have performance and fitness, health and recovery from injury benefits for everyone including: Sports + Remedial Massage... 15.01.2022 We often forget that our entire skeleton and muscles are being held up by our feet and ankles. The weight of our body can create pain and discomfort. Foot pain is very common. The most common cause is plantar fasciitis which causes pain under the heel and arch of your foot. What can you do? Utilise our Mobility Zone, to get a hold of our frozen Myoball, placing it under the ball of your foot to massage and roll the inflammation out slowly.... Achilles Tendinitis: Inflammation of the Achilles Tendon. This causes pain in the back of the ankle, going down to the back of the heel. Can be aggravated by over-use like in runners. What can you do? Mobility Zone sesh, stretch the tendon, foam roll, rest and Myoball.

12.01.2022 Tennis Elbow Not strictly from tennis at all, tennis elbow usually occurs from repetitive gripping or hand use associated with an awkward position of the arm. This could be computer work tapping keys on the keyboard, gardening, gripping tools or repetitive pulling AND yes, sports like tennis from gripping the racquet. Tennis elbow occurs when there is inflammation in one of your tendons that pull your wrist back (extensor tendon). Not only do we work on symptom relief, we will look at WHY you developed it...the awkward arm position that made you vulnerable to overload in the tendon. We are after full resolution...not a patch up job!

12.01.2022 PAIN IN THE BUTT Many people have a sore spot in the upper gluteus maximus, but pain in this location often spreads either up into the low back and/or down into the rest of the gluteals and hamstrings. This pattern causes it to be widely misinterpreted as back pain and/or sciatica, when in fact it’s just a sore spot in the butt.... The hamstring muscle group lies on the back of the thigh and is composed of three muscles: the biceps femoris, the semitendinosus, and the semimembranosus. In everyday activity, the hamstrings undergo an eccentric contraction to control the tendency of bodyweight to cause the trunk to flex forward on the pelvis. They also function to control the forward movement of the leg during walking. What Causes Hamstring Pain Physical compression by sitting in a poorly fitting chair (chair is too big for the person and their feet don’t touch the floor) Sitting in cheap patio furniture/hard dining table chairs Prolonged leaning forward in a chair that places the bodyweight on the thighs instead of the buttocks Bending at the waist for sustained periods of time Sitting cross-legged for long periods of time Many client’s carry a great deal of unrealised tension in their hamstrings. Over time, this tension manifests itself as a postural distortion that wreaks havoc with the muscles all along the spine, from the low back to the neck. If this sounds like you or someone you know, give us a shout!

10.01.2022 We’re getting into the nitty gritty time of the year, so it’s getting harder to pick up those last minute appointments. Now is the time to start booking ahead! Our online booking system is always up to date with what is available!... See you all soon

10.01.2022 Why is recovery so critical after you exercise? Rest is necessary for the muscles to repair, rebuild and strengthen. If you have very little time allocated for recovery and rest or don’t add it into your schedule at all , it can lead to overtraining and actually weaken even the strongest athlete. Take the time to repair and recover, and your body will thank you for it!

09.01.2022 Applications are now OPEN for our Summer 20-21 intake.

09.01.2022 How long ago was your last massage? Each session is a building block, training your body to maintain its relaxed state and teaching your muscles to remain loose even during high-stress periods. Committing to regular massage increases the likelihood of reduced pain, increases immune system support, injury resilience and improved posture. Plus, is there any better feeling than that post massage calm? You walk away from your appointment feeling relaxed all over, your mind is clear and your aches and pains aren’t so present.

09.01.2022 Recovery is probably the most under-utilised component of training, yet it can have the greatest effect on whether or not an athlete reaches their goals pain and injury free. We provide recovery strategies for everyone, whether you’re a serious recreational athlete looking to set a new PB, a new mother looking for some quality ‘me time’ or a tradie looking to manage the pain from a recent injury on the job, come and take advantage of our approac...h to recovery. 07.01.2022 Do you sometimes feel like your health & mental well-being has taken a backseat to the pressures and demands of your work life? Do you sometimes get to the end of a long day and realise you haven’t moved from the computer desk for 8 hours? Do you constantly have to move your head around to release the kink in your neck or stretch over the back of your chair so you can stop and breathe? Our bodies are constantly working hard for us (whether you realise it or not) to make sure ...we are comfortable, balanced, upright, breathing, functioning, regulating, circulating and producing movement without us even thinking about it. Regular massage treatments are a great way to reward the body for all the stresses we place on ourselves throughout the day. Massage can help with reducing muscle tension, increasing blood circulation, restoring wellbeing and reducing stress. When was the last time you thanked your body for everything it does for you? 06.01.2022 ? I have young people coming into clinic all the time complaining of general muscle and joint stiffness. Interestingly the most common cause that I’ve found for these symptoms are:... Lack of Sleep Dehydration Stress and Anxiety Vitamin Deficiency Over-training in the Gym Sometimes it really is a matter of trying to do some meditation and get some more water and sleep into your life. Regardless it’s not fun walking around and feeling like you’re older than you are. Bear the above in mind if you feel like you’re struggling with general stiffness everyday. Come and see us to get it sorted!

05.01.2022 ’ ! It's time to get out of the mindset that therapy is for "broken" people. This goes for mental and physical issues. There are now a large number of people and athletes that see a physical therapist on a regular basis purely to get better.... NOT better from an injury or illness, but better in terms of optimal fitness and performance. So when you hear the word 'better' in any context, don't think that the starting point or origin was ever negative in nature. It often isn't the case. It's true that as a massage therapist some clients that come to see us are in fact injured or in pain. I work with them to get them out of pain. This process often involves manual therapy, education and at home stretches. More and more clients are now presenting with no pain, just a feeling that they could move and function more optimally. Their goals are often to: Maintain function Improve posture Prevent future aches, pains and injuries Be as happy as possible for as long as possible.

05.01.2022 Just as you may feel sore after a workout, massage can stimulate areas of your body that you haven’t targeted recently. If you’re feeling pain in a certain part of your body, you may unconsciously ignore this spot, which can cause tension. A massage can highlight areas of your body where you’re holding on to tightness. The technique carries blood and nutrients to your muscles while eliminating toxins. After stimulating muscles that you may not usually use, you might experienc...e delayed onset muscle soreness. This is a physical response to the inflammation as your body heals. In the same way that your body gets used to working out, your muscles need time to get used to being manipulated in certain ways. If you haven’t had a massage recently or if it’s your first one, it’s more likely that you will feel sore afterward. Your body will create muscle memory if you have frequent massages, so aim to be regular with your sessions when possible.
