17.01.2022 Is your business tough enough ? Cutting expenses doesn’t mean lighting a torch to your business so it burns down to the ground. Successful businesses know how to cut their non- essential spending in a downturn so they carry less fat and are leaner and primed to get through the tough going. Do you know where your non-essential expenses are? ... Put together two lists. List one is all your expenses you can’t do your business without like your staff, products, rent for shop front for example. Put them to one side. List two is all other expenses. This is where you will take your knife and start cutting or reducing or replacing with a free option Here are 3 examples Phone and Internet How many services are you still paying that are no longer under contract? It’s up to you to check these and cancel the ones you no longer have. It’s so easy to pay your internet bill each month but it’s a lot harder to go through the services to realise that you are still paying for that fax you haven’t used in 2 years or that suburban office you closed down last year. Subscriptions Do you really need all those software subscriptions? So many of us take out subscriptions (easy yes I need this) but never review the need for them 12 months latter. There are so many alternative and free services on-line that you can uncover if you really try. Review your spending with your largest suppliers Make sure you know your numbers how much do you spend with them each year. Can they guarantee lower prices for a commitment to continue to use there services for the next 12 months ? So are you running your business tough enough ?

08.01.2022 Business like Life has some simple truths In life they say Happy Wife Happy Life and for most of us blokes this sure resonates truth. The same goes for running a business right now although the slogan is less cheerful and downright practical and more like Pay Bills - Pay staff - turn off the lights on your way out . Business is looking inwards and keeping it simple to turn over revenue and keep it’s staff with the hope of a better 2021 to come.... Take out the Profit and Loss statement , talk to your accountant and find out where your spending is going . In fact just spend the morning asking why are we spending money on this ? and you would be surprised by some of the responses. There is fat in almost every business that can be cut if you pay attention to it , fat you can do without. Business is hard enough right now so don’t make it any more difficult than it needs to be !
