20.01.2022 Great to see Steve Coleman as he was passing through Goulburn today to show us the new mobile response van. This much needed van to help in rural areas was purchased with some of the moneys raised for the bushfire crisis. Hopefully this van will be put to good use and assist in helping animals.

20.01.2022 We are having our first meeting back tomorrow Tuesday 14th July 7pm upstairs at the Soldiers Club. Looking forward to seeing everyone.

06.01.2022 The RSPCA NSW Inspectorates want to remind animal owners that using, selling or possessing an electric collar device otherwise known as ‘shock collars’ or ‘ba...rking collars’ is an offence under Section 16 of the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act 1979. The maximum penalty for an offence contrary to this provision is a $27,500.00 fine for a corporation or a $5,500 fine and/or six months imprisonment in respect of an individual. Such an offence can also be dealt with by way of on the spot fines of $500 for an individual. For more information around this matter, please have a read of our blog post: www.rspcansw.org.au//news-in/electric-collars-illegal-nsw/

02.01.2022 Mount Druitt man convicted and sentenced for failing to provide vet treatment to pet poodle A 71-year-old man failed to appear at Mount Druitt Local Court in r...elation to multiple animal cruelty offences relating to his pet dog Aviary, a white Poodle crossbreed. The man was convicted in his absence for six counts of failure to provide vet treatment to the dog. The Court imposed fines and veterinary care and shelter costs totalling $6107 were awarded to RSPCA NSW. The man was also banned from purchasing, acquiring, taking possession or custody of any animal for five years. RSPCA inspectors attended a Lethbridge Park home where they found Aviary lying on the ground. The dog required immediate vet treatment and was seized and transported directly to the RSPCA NSW Sydney Veterinary Hospital for examination by a veterinarian. The veterinary report indicated that the dog had numerous health issues which remained untreated for significant periods of time, causing him unnecessary pain, suffering and discomfort. The vet determined that Aviary was suffering from a Grade 4 dental disease with bone loss and gum recession at the tooth roots, and pus exuding from the root, which was untreated for no less than 21 days prior to examination. He also had inflamed, irritated skin at the perianal region due to faecal scalding, conjunctivitis and otitis externa (ear infections) which had been untreated for at least one week prior to examination. He had a heavy flea burden which had remained untreated for at least three weeks, and a very matted and dirty coat, for which the man failed to provide necessary grooming for at least one month prior to examination. Aviary made a full recovery under RSPCA NSW care and has been adopted into his forever home.
