25.01.2022 Last week we were able to order and pay for 1500 of our glove box cards to hand out to people stopping for our brilliant coffee. This waa a direct result of having an income from the cart. Our customers get a3 minute discussion on the needs of our wildlife out here, and how easy it is to avoid hitting them when driving in the area. Thanks to Animal Rescue Cooperative and their partners for their great support in making the coffee cart a reality.
21.01.2022 Also, I want to say thanks to a bunch of people who made this all possible. The Mini Kitty Commune, Animal Rescue Cooperative, WIRES, The Rescue Collective are the primary organisations, and specifically Derek Knox, Sally Bourke and their friends, without whom, none of this would be possible. Also Michelle Bryant for being there during some pretty hard moments. My thanks to all of you.
09.01.2022 I had an interesting visit on Friday from a shooter looking for coffee but unfortunately he only had a card so I was unable to help. I had to ask him to stand well back from the van because Mr Banks was there and I didn't want him being able to smell the shooter. I'm a bit torn about the issue of shooters because I know most of them are just people who can't get a proper job or who nobody wants to be near. I feel sad for them sometimes because their life has come to such a lo...w point that nobody wants anything to do with them. I suppose if one came in with cash I'd give them a coffee. A fellow (not a shooter), popped by on Friday also who had no cash but he and his missus looked as though they really desperately needed a cup of coffee. I sorted them out and gave them my number, and they called on Saturday to pay for the coffees. Maybe the shooter issue is a thing about trust. I guess I just didn't trust the shooter to come back and pay. I'm really stoked with how well the van is going. I did 50 cups of coffee last week and had about $40 in donations. It really does feel good.
07.01.2022 Another enormously interesting week as trucks begin to pop in after hearing about the coffee we serve. One of our visitors this week told me he was informed of our presence by a business in Morven which was nice. Also a huge thank you to the person who very sneakily popped a $50 note in the jar. Wow. That makes such a difference.... To Joe currently driving Brisbane to Longreach with his mum to get his hours up for his licence, good luck mate. It was great to meet you both. A laugh comes with the note that a couple of the local giant intellects thought it would be fun to run over our signs in their log trucks. I'm so pleased not all truck drivers are as dumb as those employed by the mill moron. Pleased in one respect that the intellects didn't roll the trucks and threaten the lives of other road users. The loss of the intellects would have been little noticed. By anyone.
07.01.2022 G'day. Well week 4 of the coffee cart has begun and today is Tuesday. By 9.00 AM I had made 9 coffees and a hot chocolate and most people were taken aback by finding the cart open and providing our wonderful Roast by Yili coffee and chocolate. I'm a bit shell-shocked in many ways, since I was hoping to be making about 8 cups a day to get enough together etc keep the wildlife going without having to beg and do lots of detailed grants. Anyways. I've had a joey for about 4 week...s who has the runs and a thing called thrush, which is common around macropods. His name is Mr Banks. A lady popped in driving a box truck with big bags of activated charcoal for SuperForm Charcoal which she was delivering to Brisbane and Toowoomba and she offered me a litre bag of the powder, which I gave to Mr Banks as soon as I got home. One dose and his runs have cleared up. A bit less than a gram of the charcoal. All gone and just need to finalise the thrush. I went looking for the company and found the registration but have no way to contact her since her website isn't there. If anyone knows these people, please let them know I am looking for them to say thank you.
06.01.2022 A busy moment with Kerry Hungerford and his platform.
01.01.2022 G'day hope you are all well. An interesting week with a visit by 2 elves which was very cool. Have been having a nightmare sorting the coffee cart out on google my business so don't really understand the fact of the cart being moveable. Anyway more babies with them this week i guess. Little Fliar, our newest edition, a little blue flyer at 750g is doing well. I'm closing the cart on the highway until April but will start going into Mitchell on Saturday mornings as there a...re still caravan tourists going through and overnighting at the weir. Have a great and safe Christmas, be kind to each other and stay well. Kangaroo Jack
