20.01.2022 William was a very entertaining and thought provoking speaker. We all thoroughly enjoyed his presentation as well as the rest of the District Conference.

20.01.2022 ~ Julie here! ~ The team at Reason to Thrive loves days like this! Last Saturday, we had the pleasure of being able to give a brief insight into the benefits of... Equine Assisted Learning to a group of wonderful Rotarians from our local Rotary Clubs of Karana Downs, Brookfield, Kenmore and Toowong. Although a few of the participants were aware of what we did, there’s nothing like being hands-on and experiencing the program for yourself to fully understand what EAL actually is, what personal growth can be gained from having a horse as your life-skills teacher, and where this new belief in yourself can take you. With our EAL sessions based on a Building Block program, with each week focusing on a different skill, we decided to ease our Rotarians into the morning with the Week 1 session of Starting the Journey. After a short break, we then introduced them into Week 6 - Blindman’s Adventures which focuses on trust and respect. With the aid of a blind fold, these skills were tested by both the person blind folded, and the team member giving the directions around the activities. In addition, clear and concise communication had to be given, empathy and patience shown, and problem solving handled by all of the team! Thankfully humour was also evident!!! Rotary has been a long-term partner of Reason to Thrive since we started in mid-2018, and after this session, it seems this valuable partnership will continue for much longer. Thanks to their continued loyal support of our Charity and EAL programs, a number of women in our community who have been impacted by family violence will be able to access a fully-funded EAL "Re-Build" program to help them rebuild their lives. WOW!!! For a small grassroot charity like Reason to Thrive this is huge news. THANK YOU ROTARY! This much valued partnership is proof that community collaboration can achieve so much. 08.01.2022 Our contribution to the conference discussion. The need to get these life saving devices can’t be over stated. So far we have purchased and delivered 28 both locally and to other clubs.

01.01.2022 Many thanks to Julie Tom and Michelle Beattie (and Grace and Ella) from Reason to Thrive for allowing David and Mary (Karana Bellbowrie), Urvi and Ricky (Kenmore), Margaret (Toowong) and Giles (Brookfield) to participate in a hands on demonstration of their programme this morning. This has given us a much clearer picture of how the programme (and the horses) can assist women to reclaim their lives after domestic violence, and affirms our decision for our Rotary Clubs to support the programme.
