19.01.2022 Calling all Coaches:-

18.01.2022 ‘Am I a good rider?’ She asked, pensively, sat upon her 14.2 cob, covered in poo stains that she couldn’t quite get out before her lesson, that she had persuade...d her mum to buy a year ago for just 400. (It wasn’t wanted anymore) ‘Why do you ask that?’ Her instructor replied, for she knew how this young girl felt, her eyes often lingered somewhere inbetween her horses ears or the other side of the school when teaching. ‘Because I want to be one’ Her instructor pondered on this for a good few minutes, whilst reassuring the nervous cob in front, and then said, ‘A good rider is not someone who buys flashy horses and competes every Saturday and makes it to the top within a year. A good rider is not who jumps the highest jumps or owns the fastest horse. A good rider isn’t made just because they’ve been riding since they were 3. A good rider is not someone who can move their forward horse forward... no A good rider is that pony clubber you see fall off every time she gets on something new, yet still gets back on with a smile on her face, A good rider is that girl who cries in the tack room because of how her horse behaved and how hard it’s been to cope watching everyone else be successful, but to her it seems like she is the only one failing, yet still rewards her horse with a treat and a smile because at least he was better than last time, A good rider is the boy with the angel horse, yet doesn’t claim any of its successes for himself ‘It was all him’, he would say, ‘I just sat to it’ A good rider listens A good rider is soft A good rider makes sure the horse is always happy, As a matter of fact, a good rider often has nothing to do with the riding, If you love it, and you try, and you try again, even when you fall off and it was your fault, even when people point because your seat isn’t quite as deep as they’d prefer, if you never give up, That’s what makes a good rider’ Written by Daisy Henderson Instagram: @up-to-mischief

14.01.2022 Changes to rules effective immediately: Clarification 2019 Eventing rules Art 549.2 Run-out Missing a flag Further to the request of Athletes, Organisers an...d Officials, the Eventing Committee has agreed to the following clarification to ensure consistency of the application of the 2019 Eventing rules Art 549.2 Run-out Missing a flag as follows: For reference: 2019 Eventing Rules Art 549.2 Run out - missing a flag : a) Run-Out: A Horse is considered to have run out (20 penalties) if, having been presented at an element or obstacle on the course, it avoids it in such a way that the body of the Horse (head, neck, shoulders and pelvis legs are not included) fail to pass between the extremities of the element or obstacle as originally flagged. Continuing on course without representing will incur elimination. b) Missing a flag: A Horse is considered to have missed a flag (15 penalties) if the Horse jumps the dimension of the obstacle and the majority of the Horse’s body (as defined above) passes through the flags. This means that some part of the body is not inside the flags (e.g. one shoulder, or one shoulder and part of one hip). c) The Horse will have successfully negotiated the fence, if the body of the Horse (as defined above) has passed the fence as originally flagged (i.e. the body but not all the legs are inside the flag is considered clear). The Eventing Committee has agreed that the following considerations must be taken into account when judging the run-out /flag situation on Cross Country: 1. The Fence Judge is responsible for taking a decision as to a penalty to be awarded to the combination 2. Knocking down a flag will not entail an automatic penalty 3. The Ground Jury will only review any specific requests for clarification made by a Fence Judge or an Athlete after the penalty has been awarded 4. Video reviews should be done immediately by the TD and/or GJ if there is a doubt, not left until after the XC so scores can be published and updated during competition 5. When reviewing a video, it must be easy to decide if the horse is inside the flags, if it is necessary to review several times, the decision should be made in favour of the rider. 6. As always if there is a doubt give the benefit of the doubt to the competitor. 7. 15 penalties on Cross Country will maintain the MER on Cross Country

13.01.2022 If you want to try your hand at XC this would suit you. If you are looking for practice or stepping up to the next height then this day would be a great training session for that. Come along and have some fun.

06.01.2022 Important Information for the Zone 1 dressage & Combined Training Day PLEASE READ ALL OF THIS CAREFULLY With only days to go before this competition commences, ...we would like to take the time to thank you for your nomination and to let you know some very important things; 1. First of all It is all happening on Sunday (apart from the working bee which will be on Saturday Arvo) 2. Anyone doing both competitions, your first Dressage test is also your Combined Training test. 3. If you are riding a different horse for the Combined Training, then you will need to do the First Test a second time (after you have completed the test on your dressage horse). 4. If you are not competing in the dressage test, then you will need too take the first Dressage Test as part of your combined Training. 5. Please check carefully the latest programme both on the Zone Website and the PCAQ website to ensure that you know the correct Tests that you will be doing on the day. Their have been some necessary changes, so please check again and again.. Make sure you know the tests that you have to do. 6. In addition, please go to http://www.pcaq.asn.au/Resources/RuleBooks.aspx to download the latest version of the test you are doing as again some changes to the test content brought about by the arrangement we have with EFA. 7. As mentioned above there will be a working Bee on Saturday at 3 pm to setup for the event. Each Zone 1 Club must provide 2 workers to assist with the setup. Please put your name down on the roster https://zone1.org.au/equitation-setup-roster/ so we know who is coming from each club failure to provide the two helpers for setup will mean that riders from that club will compete HC. 8. On Saturday we will publish a roster of helpers on the day. For the most part this will be clubs rostered to certain tasks and it is up to the members of these clubs to ensure that they have workers to assist in the designated tasks! THIS IS ESSENTIAL for the smooth running of the day. 9. Horse Health Declarations will be required on the day when you collect your back numbers. We recommend that you fill these out on the night before. You can download this document from the PCAQ Website. http://www.pcaq.asn.au/LinkClick.aspx 10. Riders be prepared to ride 15 minutes before you are due. 11. Remember Gear Check starts at 7 with competition commencing at t:30 sharp. Finally, competitors, we hope you all have a really enjoyable day and we are looking forward to seeing you on the weekend.
