16.01.2022 As lockdown restrictions are slowly being lifted to varying degrees, we enter a time of transition and adjustment. The circumstances of this situation have sign...ificantly impacted us all. For some, it has been an opportunity to reflect on what is important, whilst others have embraced the opportunity to learn new things. Many young people may be excited at the prospect of restrictions being lifted; others may feel mixed emotions. Reactions will differ depending on how well they cope with stress and change. Keeping a check on your childs mental health and wellbeing as they adjust to new routines, will be vitally important. There is still a lot of uncertainty ahead of us, so focusing on the things you can control or enjoy doing or even value, can help establish predictability and familiarity for the whole family. Adult carers need to provide young people with reassurance by acknowledging any concerns and fears they may have at this time. Consider this to be a normal reaction, however it may be best to focus more on their feelings and emotions, rather than the practicalities at this stage. In this Special Report, we share a few ideas to help ease this time of transition and adjustment. We hope you take time to reflect on the information offered in this Special Report, and as always, we welcome your feedback. If you do have any concerns about the wellbeing of your child, please contact the school for further information or seek medical or professional help.

12.01.2022 Sport and recreation is essential to our health and well-being, and community clubs and recreation centres are the lifeblood of our community. From Monday 18 Ma...y, non-contact sports and other recreational fitness centres will be able to resume up to 20 participants. This means both adults and children, can train and take part in community sports, if there is no physical contact involved, and there is no more than 20 people in one group. Minimal shared equipment should be used and must be cleaned frequently. Gyms will be able to reopen to conduct fitness classes or small group training sessions of up to 20 participants with minimal shared equipment. Equipment must also be cleaned between each session. This means gym machines, like pilates reformers, weight machines, exercise bicycles, rowing machines, and treadmills cannot be used. Outdoor fitness classes can also take place with minimal shared equipment, limited to 20 participants. Outdoor gym equipment in public open spaces remain closed. Public swimming pools can also open with conditions, limited to 20 patrons per pool, which is also subject to the 4 square metre social distancing rule. Changerooms remain closed, but the toilets remain open. Sport club bar and restaurant facilities will be able to open to provide table service meals (alcohol served with a meal only) and they comply with the 4 square metre per person rule, up to a maximum of 20 patrons in total in the venue. These community facilities must display a certificate signifying that they have prepared a COVID Safety Plan so you know they are taking the necessary steps to help stop the spread of COVID-19. Remember, for people watching and supporting community sport the 1.5m social distancing rule still applies. Keep up the good work WA, and help us reach our next roadmap checkpoint.
