06.01.2022 Have you found yourself running more to get the regular exercise you need during our centre closures? It is a great way to keep fit and healthy, here are a few tips to help you get the most out of it Walking is not failure Adding in walk breaks is something even elite runners do and is a great way to increase your fitness gradually. If you’ve never heard of ‘Fartlek’ before switching between walking and running during your run it can be a runner’s best friend. Prog...ression is key Gradually build up your pace walking, running slowly, running a bit faster, then walking again. Our bodies prefer to start slowly before running at full pace. The same goes for distance. Build up your distance overtime! Warm ups are worth it Your body always appreciates warming up. This could be as simple as starting off walking before you break into a jog or a jog before you break into a run, or doing some light stretching to get the blood flowing. Wear the right shoes While the types of equipment needed by runners is relatively limited, a good pair of running shoes is a must. Running shoes not only provide support they also aid in the prevention of injuries. We hope you enjoy your running as much as our smiley gym instructor Clint does
