19.01.2022 "Today was a Difficult Day," said Pooh. There was a pause. "Do you want to talk about it?" asked Piglet. "No," said Pooh after a bit. "No, I don't think I do." ..."That's okay," said Piglet, and he came and sat beside his friend. "What are you doing?" asked Pooh. "Nothing, really," said Piglet. "Only, I know what Difficult Days are like. I quite often don't feel like talking about it on my Difficult Days either. "But goodness," continued Piglet, "Difficult Days are so much easier when you know you've got someone there for you. And I'll always be here for you, Pooh." And as Pooh sat there, working through in his head his Difficult Day, while the solid, reliable Piglet sat next to him quietly, swinging his little legs...he thought that his best friend had never been more right." A.A. Milne Sending thoughts to everyone having a Difficult Day today. I hope you have your own Piglet to sit beside you

14.01.2022 Despite the challenges that the COVID-19 pandemic has delivered, our wonderful staff at our Kardinia Sum Pun campus in Chiang Mai, Thailand have been busy imple...menting new programs and activities for locals to enjoy. Here is a message from our Kardinia Sum Pun staff: Because of COVID-19, many things are forced to stop. Travelling across countries can't be done as before. All of the Kardinia Sum Pun staff understand and try to adjust in order to sustain our home, Kardinia Sum Pun, with positivity and a growth mindset. We try to figure things out from what we have and who we are. We try to do everything by ourselves, from brainstorming to taking action with all the work. We have to change our roles and learn to do new stuff even if we've never done it before. Luckily we have either good old friends or new friends who always encourage us and give us good advice. We started with transforming the accommodation to be a resort. "Kardinia Sum Pun Resort" is for travellers from all over Thailand and we are open to welcoming dogs to stay as well. We also started a restaurant, "Sum Pun Kitchen" that offers various kinds of international food, since we have a kitchen team who has more than 10 years of experience cooking for Kardinia staff and students. In addition, we feel like we want to have some space for fun, creativity and inspiration so we also started "Begin Coffee Cafe and Playspace". We created a play area, "Laan-Lon-Len", as a space for positive and fun energy so it's a place for visitors of all ages to have new ideas or get inspired. If you love to play games, our cafe is a perfect place for you to spend quality time with either your friends or family. The word "Begin" that is used as a name is a synonym of "Kardinia", which is an Aboriginal word which means "sunrise" or "new beginning", which corresponds to our belief: "everyone has ability to start all over again every day". The logo of the cafe is a Play button that is used when we want to start playing songs, videos or games. We know that sometimes people want to do new things or try new ideas, many people wish to change in order to be better. We believe that everyone is able to do that if you are ready to move on and just press play.

12.01.2022 R U OK Day...teachers. An upside of remote teaching and learning is that some teachers have time to eat lunch sitting down AND finish a cup of tea, due to no yard duty between morning and afternoon classes. Silver lining! Simple pleasures! Kudos to those in Highview and those supervising in both the Junior School and Senior School. Be kind to yourself and each other and stay well!

03.01.2022 R U OK? This year it’s been even more important for us all to stay connected and, for those who are able, be willing to support those around us. You don’t have to be an expert to keep the conversation going when someone says they’re not OK. By knowing what to say you can help someone feel supported and access appropriate help long before they’re in crisis, which can make a really positive difference to their life. Check out the Tip Sheet for some great info to help support others and continue the conversation.
