22.01.2022 Some days! I think this must be Friday the 13th!! Someone ripped off our car wing mirrors and threw them down the street last night and now my sinks are blocked. Politest word is ...poop! :( On a happier note...here are the last spots to grab for pressies and don't forget my special just for you, my beloved FB Followers (though do feel free to share post with a friend or three). Have a lovely weekend, I shall be running 2 x parties and NDIS class x K

21.01.2022 Mind blown! On the day I decide to upload all of my Christmas Baking classes, what do I find in Coles!? What the hey Coles...it is September!. ...must admit I bought my nephew some Harry Potter merch to put away so the Xmas shopping begins (slowly!). Two Xmas menus:... Menu 1 (the old fave and I pull it out every year and have tweaked it a little over time) Stained-glass window biscuits, Decorated Reindeer and Snowman cupcakes as well as Christmas pudding pops. Menu 2 (new fun stuff for my regulars and to keep me on my toes) Christmas Tree Puff Pizzas and Parmesan Stars, Gingerbread Reindeers and Santa Brownie hats. If you have hard-to-buy-for nieces, nephews, grandchildren, kids, jump in and get them an early Xmas present or birthday present. x K https://comeandcook.com.au/contact-us/

21.01.2022 Finally, just finally I have written a food blog piece ( I hate to say it but it may be that my last piece was Nov 2019!!). It is about making dinners as my feed is full of Hello Fresh and other meal prep services I thought I would put together some time saving ideas for shopping and cooking for a busy family. I am always hesitant about blog writing, it makes me a little nervous as I dont know what or if anyone wants to read it or whether what I do at home is any great shak...es but see what you think. There may be a few ideas in there. If you want any recipes from the blog just let me know. I can definitely write more and would love input and feedback into what you might want ideas for... Most of the ideas given for meals can be changed depending on allergies or food choices and swapped out. Only ideas but I know we all get stuck for dinner ideas and usually mine is thrown together from leftover workshop bits n pieces and I dont meal prep as I work from home and with food. The only things I prep in advance would be; lunchbox snacks, marinated meats and rice for stirfries and sushi. Please have a read and see what you think... x K ps. these are Flos lunchboxes this week so far pics... Day one tomatoey sauce macaroni, blueberries and strawberries and a yoghurt and raspberry cake. Day 2 same pasta, Taiyaki (fish shaped waffle), strawberries and blueberries. https://comeandcook.com.au/meal-prepping/

20.01.2022 Gosh I dunno which I am??? ...a lil bit (ok quite a bit) Humpty and a lil bit of an echidna... This made me chuckle today on #throwbackthursday. Which one are you? Wish I had a clear pic but my mum made me that Humpty cake in 1978 (which was followed by a famous cry-my-eyes out dramatic turn as I didnt get a pink coloured boiled egg) and she must have had some sort of psychic ability on future Karen! ps. I read this book cover to cover like it was the bees bloody knees and my mum had another birthday cakes one maybe Womans Day or something and that was a fine flick-through but ultimately an inferior version #backtoworkkaren

20.01.2022 Morning I am working from the cosy office today *pulls up doona* having some well earned rest and planning time. The impromptu team Browne meeting/ date night at the Blind Tiger yesterday makes me feel about 95 years old today (and compared to some young whippersnappers in there I was)...I digress! I hate to say the C word as it makes U shudder, no one is ready or wants to hear it but today from the confines of the Come and Cook headquarters I am working on Christmas Workshops!!! *Breaks into a medley of Christmas tunes mostly involving Buble and Mariah* These school hols are now full and so will have these new and old faithful workshops ready to go in next day or so. PS. Keep the glitter idea in mind for bad days or a festive look. Happy Monday x K

05.01.2022 Do you have kids that are selective eaters? Are there mealtime battles? Do your kids eat the same meals as you? There is great info found here regarding helping children to be good eaters. www.ellensatter.com Parents often ask me about getting their kids to eat a wider variety or give insight into mealtime issues at home. I am not a trained Nutritionist or Dietician but just a mum and cooking teacher with a pretty long and varied experience with teaching kids to create with... food. After meeting with some lovely Dieticians from www.kidsdigfood.com.au a couple of weeks ago, I was just posted some very interesting literature from a U.s. author Ellen Satter and will just share a few snippets that are thought-provoking, straightforward and may just be helpful... She has written a Division of Responsibility in Feeding... Parents are responsible for: What, Where and When Their jobs are ; - choose and prepare the food - provide regular meals and snacks - make eating times pleasant - show children by example how to behave at family mealtime - be considerate of childrens lack or food experience without catering to likes and dislikes - not let children have food or beverages (except water) between meal and snack times - let children grow up to get bodies that are right for them Children are responsible for; How much and whether Childrens eating jobs: - children will eat - they will eat the amount they need - they will learn to eat what their parents eat - they will grow predictably - they will learn to behave well at mealtime This is real food for thought and I am by no means an expert but as a mum and a provider of a very varied mealtime selection for my kids I can offer a few ideas. One of my kids is selective and one eats it all and loves food. For Flo our Asian stir-fries with fresh vegetables and noodles are her idea of hell but I compromise and we all eat it but for her no Bok Choy as she finds it just too chewy but for Fred that is his favourite meal. If she has all of the other veggies then I am not going to sweat it out over the one. We all eat the same food, together, pretty much every night. If meal times are an issue or food generally is an issue in your house please have a look at this info above or do p.m me for any meal ideas. Believe me, you are not alone. x K

03.01.2022 Just saying...have a great day peeps
