25.01.2022 FREE POOL NOT SUPPORTED Last night I put a Motion to a formal Council meeting to consider free entry to our Swimming Centre instead of charging fees as we do now. The idea was proposed to me by members of the local community and I thought it had some merit, so took it to my colleagues. It wasn’t supported, so it won’t happen. But that’s how it often works - via suggestions from Residents. As a Councillor I take my role very seriously in representing others (it’s not about me). Sometime in future I may follow up to seek some better concessions and incentives for pool entry; our Swimming Centre is magnificent and I hope to see more of you using it

24.01.2022 CHRISTMAS TREE LIGHTING WENT AHEAD Despite the cancellations earlier in the year, the Murray Bridge Interchurch Annual Christmas Tree lighting ceremony at Edwards Square went ahead Friday night with a small crowd - but plenty of enthusiasm. It was the most beautiful sunset prior to enough darkness arriving for the switch-on. And it was a pleasure to be out and about again in a gathering after a pretty dismal year.

24.01.2022 TELL US YOUR VIEWS ON WILDENS WAY PLAN I haven’t posted for a while but something important is happening. Consultation on the draft Community Land Management Plan for Wildens Way is now open after Council revised the plan to focus on the management of existing shack leaseholds, accessibility to the riverfront and to maintaining and preserving the environment and existing remnant flora within the area. Options include a Riverfront Reserve Zone with improved connectivity and accessibility of adjoining reserves, directional and connectivity signage and installing a formalised walkway and viewing area to the Samphire Flood Plain. Check out the plan and have your say on this and more via website: letstalk.murraybridge.sa.gov.au

23.01.2022 CATS AGAIN! At tonight’s Council meeting I pushed for a formal Cat Curfew to be considered, but my Motion wasn’t supported and didn’t pass. Council’s Animal Management Plan (adopted last year) will go some way to considering various cat management policies and ideas we could implement but nothing concrete just yet. As a keen animal welfare advocate, I believe cats deserve a loving home and although some State Government initiatives are working reasonably well, I was hoping the Rural City could go a step further and keep cats better confined to their residence, at least at night. I am still hopeful the Plan will find some solutions to the burgeoning stray and unowned cat populations I see every night. Watch this space.

23.01.2022 COMMUNITY SUPPORT SOUGHT For a very worthwhile project. I am proud to be involved via Council and as a Board member of AC Care. Please watch the video and consider how you can assist - and share!

17.01.2022 UPDATE ON LITTLE CORELLAS

12.01.2022 WAR MEMORIAL COMPLETE As many are aware, the construction of the Sturt Reserve RSL War Memorial has been underway since May and is now complete. Following the final inspection of the site in the coming days, the fencing will be removed. The remediation works on the surrounding lawn and a water feature are to be completed within the next few weeks. Additional landscaping has been proposed surrounding the War Memorial, which forms part of Stage 1 delivery of Council’s History and Tourism Precinct, which is to be delivered by 30 June 2021. I am sure you will agree it looks wonderful.
