22.01.2022 Tasmania Fire Service (TFS) has declared a statewide fire permit period starting at 2am this Friday 4 December until the end of bushfire season. To obtain a free permit contact your local brigade or call TFS on 1800 000 699 to make the arrangements. While the fire permit period is in place the following will apply:... People intending to light a fire for burning vegetation or a similar purpose must obtain a permit. People intending to light a fire at a sawmill or factory for burning wood waste or other flammable material must obtain a permit. People intending to light a fire for cooking, warmth or disposal of garden waste do not require a permit provided that: o the fire is not lit in peat, humus, or marram grass o the fire is always attended by a responsible adult until it is extinguished. o all flammable material is removed down to bare earth at least three metres radius around the fire o it is less than one cubic metre in size NOTE: some Local Government authorities prohibit backyard burning in residential areas. If wanting a permit please plan ahead as Permit officers are volunteers and may not be able to visit you to issue a permit for a few days.

Explain more about the role as a volunteer firefighter. Also well done to two members who have both clocked up 10 years each in the TFS as a volunteer. Brigade chief Gary Harris-Newsham and David O’Neil.

16.01.2022 Please stay safe and be aware of your surroundings when burning off.

14.01.2022 Permits not required from 02:00 Thursday. Please still register your burn with Tas Fire

13.01.2022 Just a heads up for people planning doing a burn. Be aware of local vineyards. They are doing it tough with the hospitality industry shutting down and last thing they need is lots of burns ruining their crops so close to harvest.

13.01.2022 A note sent from Tasmania fire Service Today.
