22.01.2022 CHRISTOPHER POPE // Welcome Chris - our next SA artist featured on our nightly projections for November. Now trust me when I say that you'll do a double take at the incredible work from Chris. His work is soooo realistic you'll think they are photographs! His work involves amazing portraits of Australia’s diverse bird species and wildlife. He has been commissioned numerous times to illustrate Australia Post stamps, winning several of their awards, including Most Po...pular Australian Stamp Issues in 2009 and 2016. His art hangs in various Australian and overseas collections. Born in South Australia, Christopher’s love for art and wildlife began early, having spent his childhood in small country towns. Although he has studied illustration and art in various forms, he is basically self-taught and is often regarded as one of the leaders in the field of wildlife art in Australia. Christopher paints to illustrate the beauty and fragility of our natural wildlife, wishing to draw attention to the importance of conservation of our fauna. Simply beautiful! Christopher Pope

21.01.2022 DAN WITHEY, 1-31 OCTOBER 2020 // Holey Moley - it's October! Where did that last month disappear to? Well let's not waste anymore time introducing our next South Australian artist. Dan Withey studied a Bachelor of Visual Communication (specialising in Illustration) at the University of South Australia. Upon graduating in 2007 with the Design Institute of Australia’s student of the year award, he decided to transition into a career in Visual Arts. His art, althoug...h addressing dilemmas of modern day society such as consumerism, the environment and freedom, are still imbued with a playful humour and humbleness that make them completely unpretentious and accessible to all audiences. Check it out - Dan's projection will be on display every evening throughout October.

Dave is a multi-disciplinary artist working in areas of painting, design and installation. His current work includes large scale mural painting, event activation, venue design and creation of immersive installations. Dave has experience with a range of different projects including award winning immersive art project Mr IST, ethical clothin...g brand foolsandtrolls, retail store/art space Created Range, street press Yewth Magazine and festival design with RCC and Adelaide Fringe. Dave works as a full time artist, heavily involved with public art, as well as art direction and curation along with his ongoing studio practice. His process driven style involves experimentation with gesture, abstraction, and oscillation between digital and physical representations. 13.01.2022 WOW KAROONDA SILO ART WINS TOP GONG // Last night we celebrated the prestigious Australian Street Art Awards and it was a BIGHUGEAMAZING night for Karoonda!! We are incredibly proud to have taken out not only one, but two awards last night. Can you believe it!!? We are very excited to share that we received the GOLD in the Best Mega Mural category! BUT to top it off, we received the ultimate award.. the ‘BEST OF THE BEST’, which means our entry scored the highest ...against all entries in all categories. What!?! Congratulations to the dedicated team behind creating Australia’s first Day and Night silo art. It’s a special award that we are so lucky to receive and it wouldn’t have been possible without the hard work of some amazing people in creating this one-of-a-kind attraction in the heart of the mallee! A well-deserved acknowledgement must go out to Matthew Morgan, Council’s CEO at the time who drove the project along with Mayor Caroline Phillips and Tegan Buckley. We would also like to acknowledge the amazing partnership with Cindi and the Illuminart team along with the amazing support from the crew at Commshake Media. Thanks to the very talented Heesco Khosnaran who became part of our community for several weeks as he created this amazing artwork in record time! Finally ..Special thanks to our elected members and our community who were brave enough to try something ‘out of the box’ which has certainly paid off!
