25.01.2022 I use non-branded cardboard boxes for three important reasons. 1. I’m not consuming additional energy and water to produce inks and dyes. 2. You get an additional product with purchase - the box itself! You can reuse it, decorate it, gift with it - less waste. 3. The overall product cost is less for you, the customer. Simple, effective and ecofriendly - just like the products that these plain white boxes contain. Check out our growing kits and gifts by clicking on the Shop Now button

23.01.2022 It’s a stressful time for everyone. Chamomile, lemon balm and tarragon have taste great and are good for you too (calming and relaxing). The Stress Less Infusion growing kit contains everything you need to start a herb garden on your benchtop. Check out our website in bio.

23.01.2022 The Pink Everlasting Daisy (Helichrysum monstrosum) is also known as a Strawflower. The plant produces crispy, paper-like flowers that last for months. This species has a different form to the Western Australian native everlasting (Rhodanthe Chlorocephala ssp rosea). Growing kits for both types of everlasting daisies are available in our store - link in bio. @ Perth, Western Australia

22.01.2022 Here’s an article by an academic on the miraculous effect of fire on native seed germination. http://theconversation.com/the-phoenix-factor-what-home-gar

21.01.2022 The Swan River Daisy (Brachyscome iberidifolia) is one of the most underrated Western Australian native flowers. Dainty but flamboyant, simple but showy, so much bang for buck! Thriving in poor, sandy soils, fast growing and offering abundant colour, this is a low maintenance addition to any garden. It’s perfectly suited to containers and pots as well. Available as a seeded greeting card or in a growing kit. Click the Shop Now button to check it out!

21.01.2022 The Palate Pleaser herb growing kit is perfect for a small balcony garden. It has everything you need to start. All products are biodegradable and plastic free.

20.01.2022 A few must haves.

18.01.2022 Some of our favorites.

17.01.2022 You can't go wrong with any of these.

17.01.2022 These favorites are worth a look.

15.01.2022 These unusual flowers are known as Billy Buttons (Pycnosorus globulus). The plant is a member of the native daisy family and grows to about 50cm tall. Mature plants will bloom with multiple flowers, which makes for a showy display in pots or garden beds. The flowers make a great cut flower for fresh and dried arrangements. They prefer moist, well drained soil, are frost tolerant and can tolerate coastal environments. They’re difficult to find in stores, so grow your own with a kit from our website.

14.01.2022 How cute is this water atomiser! The pumpkin shaped amber glass holds 240mL of water (about a cup). This handy water sprayer is perfect for keeping your Karrikins seeds moist during germination, or misting your ironing. I’ve even had a customer use it for spraying olive oil onto their food. Check it out using the link in bio. @ Perth, Western Australia

13.01.2022 Plant Sturt Desert Peas now! The winter rain has created perfect conditions for flowering in October. Check out my 7 steps to success with Sturt Desert Pea in my blog. https://karrikins.com.au//7-steps-to-success-with-sturt-de. (Hint: wake them up and give them a hot bath!)

13.01.2022 How good do these natural coir pots look! Made from sustainably farmed coconut fibre, these ecofriendly coir pots have so many advantages over impermeable materials. These pots are lightweight and shatter proof - perfect for balconies and children. Neutral in colour - matching every decor (especially natural, minimalist, themes). They allow exchange of heat and moisture - your plants will never drown, suffocate from overheating or being root bound. In fact, once plants have outgrown the pot, simply put the whole thing into a larger pot or your garden bed. No need to disturb the roots and risk shock to your plant through transplanting. Another great way to achieve a zero plastic lifestyle. #noplastic

12.01.2022 Craving something new?

11.01.2022 The Australian wildflower greeting cards include a tab of seeds embedded into the tip of matchsticks. This makes them easy to handle, and you can see where you planted the seeds. There is a black line to show how deep to sow the seeds. The biodegradable, recycled cardboard matchsticks hold moisture during the germination period, encouraging growth. These cards make great Christmas presents, stocking stuffers, Secret Santa and Kris Kringle gifts. Buy them individually, in a pack of 5 or in a growing gift. @ Perth, Western Australia

11.01.2022 I took these photos during a road trip through wildflower country. It was a wonderful experience that needs to be shared! These A6 sized note cards capture the joy and colour. They’re perfect for a hand written note to say 'thank you', 'congratulations', 'thinking of you'. They feature an Australian wildflower on one side and are blank on the other side for your own message. I’ve framed them to add a pop of colour to my office. @ Perth, Western Australia
