15.01.2022 - I was loading my yoga equipment into my car the other day when a man walked past and exclaimed Yoga, I can’t even touch my toes! I was a bit slow off the mark to respond on that cold winter morning, he disappeared too quickly for me to say, but that’s why you do yoga! It’s a common misconception that you need to be flexible to do yoga. In contrast we do yoga to become more mobile, more agile, to give back what age (and maybe a few too many months ...or years in a good paddock) has taken away from us. It doesn’t matter if you can’t touch your toes when you first come to class, however it’s a good measure 8 weeks or 2 years down the track to see how far you have come in your practice. It’s also a common misconception that yoga is only for females. Yoga is extremely beneficial for males. For example: Yoga is an all over body workout that improves overall strength, balance and range of movement (especially in your hips and shoulders). Yoga improves your posture and can help prevent back pain though targeting muscular imbalances such as a tight hamstrings, weak core muscles and tight hip flexors. Yoga helps you de-stress, though focusing on your breath and your body working in the yoga posture yoga helps clear your mind. Sports and recreational activities often only use specific parts of the body; yoga complements any sport or recreational activity by stretching and strengthening your whole body. So we’ve designed a beginners yoga program specifically for men: Bloke Yoga. Classes are taught by Dave and are on Thursday 5:30 to 6:30 pm at the St George's Family Centre. Please contact us for more information.
14.01.2022 ! Went to a public session at the Busselton Jetty today. It was a fantastic session, and really interesting to learn more about strategic direction of the not-for-profit Busselton Jetty Inc. and see the proposed Australian Underwater Discovery Centre concept designs. They are asking the public to vote on their favourite theme for the new observatory: - Rocks... - Voyage - Cetaceans. What’s your favourite?
11.01.2022 When the power goes out in Busselton, we ! Thanks for you patience yesterday everyone while I transformed the studio for our candlelit class
10.01.2022 ’ . Today, , a symbol of new beginnings, seems an apt day to relight them. Today, across the country hard borders are opening and families are reuniting. Through this year Australians have rekindled the Aussie Spirit with the knowledge that no matter what, we will always come together and work together for the greater good.... How coincidentally auspicious we are beginning yoga this week in Dunsborough! It’s one of those times where the universe winks at you and smiles.
10.01.2022 Do you like smaller yoga classes? Come along on Thursday for a small group class at 9:30 lead by Kym in Busselton and at 8:50 lead by Katie in Dunsborough.
09.01.2022 , ! We've all have our own stories and challenges that we've had to face individually and collectively this year. As I reflect back on the year common themes emerge: UNITY & CONNECTION.... Our ability to unite as a community, state and country to protect our health care workers, prevent overloading our health system, and protect our most vulnerable. The support from the Government, the response from the community and the preventative impact that it's made, really does prove how lucky we are to have each other and to be in Australia. As the song goes, we don't know what we've lost until it's gone. Our Lockdown earlier this year was such an important reminder of how important connection really is. And it's through these connections, through uniting to face our challenges TOGETHER that we have been able to move forward with greater wisdom, strength and clarity. Even if it's as simple as being clear of another meaning for the word NOVEL! Our Christmas Party was a celebration of community with so many of us coming together to celebrate. A symbol of our ever growing, everchanging and beautifully welcoming family at KatieYoga. I love that we can all come together and have such a great time. Thank you so much for making the Shala feel like home for everybody. Thank you so much for your ongoing support. We look forward to sharing the 2021 year with you.

01.01.2022 Such a lovely evening with these crew, spent sharing our love for all things yoga. The book, based on the world of Bikram Yoga, was such an interesting topic for all of us to discuss. A big shout out to author @benjaminlorr for connecting with us all the way from New York City and for taking the time to answer ALL of our questions! It was great to hear your view as the writer on the topics that captured our attention, and it was really interesting to hear about... the depth of your research into the world of Bikram. It was also fascinating to hear your thoughts in the present day given it's fifteen years after the publishing date. We really enjoyed your book and are intrigued about what your latest book - entails.
