As you explore and play with this pose today I invite to think about what it means to be committed to your self. You might even like to pick up a pen and jot a few thoughts or intentions down. 17.01.2022 Training the mind is having control over what gets absorbed. That’s what meditation gives us. It is a practice, a tool to help us master the mind. When we focus on the breath, what does that do? It takes our awareness from a thousand places and brings it to one. It doesn’t have to be the breath; it could be a mantra. It could be a candle flame; it could be awareness in general... Slowly, over time it’ll happen. It’s hard for everybody in the beginning. The very nature of the... mind is to be all over the place. Bring it in, and slowly, what you find is that the space between the thoughts grows. Then when you move about in the world, and things begin to happen around you, you’re no longer just reacting, because you’ve cultivated a habit of non-judging, non-analysing, non-reacting awareness. 16.01.2022 Today I spent my International Day of Yoga filming content for @yokeyoga and kept pretty much to myself. In prior year’s I’ve been known (like many others) to gallivant around on a yoga high, or wish people Happy International Yoga Day but this year things look a bit different. It certainly feels different too and therefore requires a different response and set of actions. Today I paid homage (more times than I can count on one hand) to the land I walk and practice yoga on.... I taught my students about steadiness, ease, growth, learning, community and how to become unstuck in the body and mind so they can serve in this world. A world that so desperately needs them! (And by gosh, we definitely need more yoga students in this world!) And so whilst I wish everyone the happiest of yoga times, I thought it was important to serve up much more than that today. It sure is a precarious world we live in right now. And if anything, my yoga practice and teaching only continues to teach me that yoga is so much more than the asana and the yoga high. So so so much more! And that there are tools in our practice that this beautiful earth so graciously needs us to use. My message: Keep showing up! To your world, your mat, your practice. 13.01.2022 As the sun sets over @parmarthniketan ashram we move past this idea of ‘practice’ into a more subtle sense of living. An innate peace exists within our soul, as if it were calmly floating along the rippled surface of Ganga Ma. Mantra after mantra we come home to ourselves, and we are reminded of just how integral the human spirit is to this world.

13.01.2022 Ok guys, my mic pack was not meant to be dangling in this video but I didn’t let it get to me, it is what it is! It actually made me giggle a bit when filming and I must admit it was the weirdest feeling to have something hanging from my hip in this pose, but anyway, bloopers happen right?! Ok so this is wheel, in Sanskrit that is Urdhva Dhanurasana or Chakrasana, but more often than not you’ll simply hear it as ‘wheel’. Make sure you’ve warmed up, especially the front and back body, before attempting this one. And remember bridge pose is always there as a nice alternative. 13.01.2022 Yoga. What does the word yoga even mean? If someone asked you that, what would you say? Let me know in the comments. Those of you that write union get a huge gold star, or something similar, yes a gold star to you too! But it is not merely the union of your hands being able to touch your toes, not your forehead being able to touch your knee, and certainly not your ego oh I must have been in yoga (in union) to do the full expression of that pose I just did. Side no...te: What is the full expression anyway? How deep did you actually go if it was all in your head/mind/ego and not in your body or in the experience? Pause on that for a moment though, and back to union... Imagine a union of self. A union of self to something divine! A union of self to a divine self. Or for want of better words, a union of the small self to the universal self. What would that be like? What would the journey on your yoga mat be like then? What would your day look like off the mat? What would your relationship with yourself and others look like? Imagine how resilient, and strong, and incredibly amazing you would be and feel! Yoga is 0.000000001% (unofficial stat) of what you do on your yoga mat, it is a way of living, a state of being. It just is. 13.01.2022 This weekend I shifted a few things, intentionally, yes. I did what I needed to do, I kept commitments where I could (some extra things were asked of me, I did those things too), I gave up other things to be able to do it all. That’s just how things go sometimes. I practiced not feeling guilty for the areas of change that I personally had no control over. And I smiled. I taught yoga, to more than 100 students and teachers alike. All of them equal in their presence and th...eir commitment to the practice of yoga. How blessed I am to guide these souls. If you were there, thank you, I’m talking to you. And I sang. I sang my little/big heart out, one of my most favourite things to do. I too moved and breathed with my own practice several times, and it was pure bliss. I chose a select group of special humans who I love most to then spend my Sunday with. I called it The Last Supper. Because why shouldn’t you treat every occasion as if it’s your last. Give it go, it honestly makes EVERYTHING much more special. And the adjustments, the shifts, they were simply a practice of prioritising. Prioritising what matters to you most in each and every breath, moment, hour, day, weekend. So I did that. And it was bloody wonderful. Everything became achievable. Nothing was impossible. Life was suddenly more accessible purely based on my dedication and devotion. My heart led the way, over my mind and over what seems like an endless list of commitments sometimes (that I have dubbed the churn of living life.) So I challenge you: What matters most to you right now in this very moment, and how can you prioritise that? For the betterment of, well... your very existence. Can you channel Lakshmi vibes of abundance? So that those very things you prioritise and perhaps crave more of, you receive by way of the universe simply doing its thing. Let me know how you go. 08.01.2022 H U M B L E W A R R I O R I personally owe so much to the ancient practice of yoga, so give me a pose that bows to that any day of the week! Or in the instance of Humble Warrior, and thank you @amandagloriayoga for choosing this pose today, it’s the perfect example of ego restraint. I remember doing this pose for the first time over a decade ago. In my body it felt awful, I felt stuck, I felt heavy, being in suspension forward was uncomfortable, I definitely didn’t like exp...osing my heart, and overall I simply didn’t like it. Over the years I learnt to surrender, to let go, to just be with the pose, nothing more, nothing less, just the pose in its simplicity... AND what I can say is that it’s now a pose that I love and adore. That’s why we practice right? To move beyond the ‘stuckness’, to see what else we can uncover about our practice, ourselves, our yoga journey. #mindfuLLmay @ll_bylaughinglotus @k.deer @emilyhsudesigns

07.01.2022 Hanumanasana is not a pose that comes naturally to me anymore. It used to be something I could drop into as a kid anytime, anywhere. And yes I still drop in (albeit a little slower) but I find the challenge these days is for me to lift up out of the pose and hold, this is far more difficult than just dropping flat split to the mat and hoping for ease when you get there. Lift up out of it a bit more than you think you need to, and breathe. See what happens. Can you find ease here? I like to start in half split before exploring full Hanumanasana, and slowly come out via pyramid pose for that extra chill time, and then see how yummy standing splits is after that! #hanumanasana #hanuman #mindfuLLmay @kalia_yoga @ll_bylaughinglotus @k.deer @emilyhsudesigns

03.01.2022 As I enter a new week, it’s easy to revert to patterns of thinking that existed long before I said hello to my true self. But as I step into this next chapter of my life, completely unattached, I feel totally at ease. At first I felt stoic about it, I didn’t feel bold or brave, or nervous or scared, it was almost as if I didn’t feel anything at all. But after many, MANY meditations I came to realise that I had dropped in, and by ‘in’ I mean ’dropped in-side myself’. I had s...urrendered to the universe! I was totally in-tune, C O N N E C T E D! And for probably the first time in my life I knew that I was EXACTLY where I needed to be, doing exactly what I needed to do. And in this place, I am fully aligned to my dharma. I am in my own lane, doing MY own thing and the only part that I do currently know is that these next few laps around the sun are already shaping up to be my most epic yet! 02.01.2022 Maha means ALOT to me! Ask @aschueler about the 5 million times this came up for me during our time in India. India changes everything about your everything. It fills you up, it infiltrates you’re soul, it tugs at your heart. Ma India steers you to make decisions, let go of, and take actions that perhaps previously you wouldn’t have. Going to India was undoubtedly the best thing I have done in my life. And not ‘best’ as in the way you speak about your favourite holiday destin...ation, or ‘best’ as in the best time you had out with friends that one time, I mean ‘best’ in a way you will only ever understand once you’ve visited her. I now know that my conversation pre-trip with @paigetaylah__ was me chatting completed blinded by the itinerary. Everything was laid out. I thought I knew where I was going, but the real truth is I didn’t. ONCE I WAS THERE, everything clicked. I get it now. I now look back at the convo and chuckle. And in reality, I would go and get that best thing I ever did any day of the week! (Let’s just say this, if borders were open, and if I wasn’t married and settled here, I would go LIVE there!) So @brianayoga thank you for bringing this mantra to the forefront of my mind this morning. It threw me back to this day, this video, in this room, in that space. @aschueler it takes me to our little bus trip searching for a post office, me writing and drawing MAHA over and over again. It brought me to where I am right now, in this place. And it has shaped the rest of my life and beyond. For that I thank you, I thank @ll_bylaughinglotus and ALL of the people in this video, plus many, many more. There’s a lot for me to share, much more than I give myself credit for.
