24.01.2022 Hello! My name is Yury. I am a head of branch (Shidsha) of Tenshinsh-den Katori Shint-ry in Australia. My path started more than 8 years ago in Russia. I have committed myself to that tradition and every year I attend Shinbukan Dj at Chiba Prefecture, Japan. Last year I was nominated to represent the Shinbukan Dj which is currently led by take Nobutoshi Shihan with instruction and supervision by take Risuke Shihan. I am very grateful to be a part of this martial tr...adition and happy that my fate gave me an opportunity to become a student of the masters. If you are interested to enter the world of classical bujitsu and want to know more about Japanese weapons such as katana (a long sword), naginata (a glaive) and bo (a staff), these trainings are for you. We do trainings in Sydney and happy to meet other enthusiasts to practice together. The trainings are held outdoors and indoors. Each training session ends after about 1.5 hours. 18.01.2022 Tenshinsh-den Katori Shint-ry was founded by Iizasa Choisai Iena Sensei during the mid Muromachi era (1336-1573) in the Katori region of Shimsa province (present-day Katori city, Chiba prefecture). At approximately sixty years of age, Iizasa undertook a thousand days of prayer and austere training devoted to the deity of the Katori Shrine, within its grounds. It is said that the deity then presented him with a divine scroll on the warrior arts. Since the art was rece...ived through divine transmission, Iizasa named it Tenshinsh-den (direct and authentic transmission from the deities) Katori Shint-ry. The tradition has been handed down to the present day. The Shinbukan Dj's practice of Katori Shint-ry follows the teachings passed down from Hayashi Sakuichir Shihan to Hayashi Yazaemon Shihan, who was then succeeded by take Risuke Shihan (Shinbukan Dj founder). Practice is currently led by take Nobutoshi Shihan, with instruction and supervision by take Risuke Shihan. The tradition has been preserved and transmitted through centuries to present day by many generations of master teachers. In 1960, through the efforts of Hayashi Yazaemon Shihan and take Risuke Shihan, Tenshinsh-den Katori Shint-ryu was awarded the status of Intangible Cultural Asset of Chiba Prefecture. The tradition was the first martial art in Japan to be designated as a cultural asset. Both take Risuke Shihan and take Nobutoshi Shihan hold the official title of Guardian, as designated by the authority of the Chiba Prefecture Office of Education. 13.01.2022 Each training session ends after about 1.5 hours. To start, all what you need is a comfortable footwear and clothing which should be chosen according to the weather. The organiser has some spare inventory for beginners. If you have your equipment, you may bring it. Basically, we start from learning sword techniques with bokuto or bokken (a wooden sword), than move to iaito (a metal imitation sword) and finally to senken (a real sword). Also, we learn how to use bo (a wooden s...taff), naginata (a glaive) and other traditional japanese weapons. Trainings with wood weapons can be attended outdoors; iaito trainings are indoor only. Wednesday: from 6 pm to 7.30 pm Saturday: from 8 am to 9.30 am The location can be amended. 05.01.2022 This Saturday we had special training. We spent most of the time doing iaijutsu and battojutsu. Also, I showed how to put on armour (yoroi) and emphasised how it impacts the mechanics of movements.
