25.01.2022 I have tried to call all active members to let you know about some changes to toy library. Please give me a call back if I didn't catch you! Amy 0413119629

22.01.2022 I can see a rainbow! A rainbow scavenger hunt is a fantastic way to help children learn colour matching, descriptive language and even maths concepts.

19.01.2022 We couldn't agree more! How fantastic to belong to a toy library, where a child can borrow whatever they like, to explore their interests, whatever they may be Elise Gravel - English

18.01.2022 NOTICE OF AGM The Katanning Toy Library AGM will be held on Tuesday 19th March 2019 at 6:30pm at the Katanning Saleyards (for dinner). All of our current committee have graciously offered to continue in their positions. This means you don't have to be afraid of coming along and getting lumped with a job! However, you are very welcome to nominate yourself as all positions will be declared vacant at the meeting and be voted on. ... Please note, the terms you agreed to when you became a member include agreeing to attend the AGM. We realise this is not possible for everyone however we would be grateful for your input for the following agenda items to be discussed. Further items may be added without notice. Agenda Items: Enforcement of required duty - possibly invoicing members who do not fulfil their requirements of 4 hours per year. Possibly reinstating fines for missing pieces as many members are not checking their pieces when loaning and returning toys. This is becoming a problem. Organise working group to generate, laminate and attach bag labels with lists of pieces for each toy - can be printed easily from SETLS. Please comment below or send me a private message if you have other agenda items you would like to add. Please RSVP ASAP so we can book the table. Regards, The Katanning Toy Library Committee

18.01.2022 UPDATE: HARMONY FESTIVAL CANCELLATION Based on the statement made by Prime Minister Scott Morrison, today Friday 13 March 2020, including information that mass ...gatherings of 500 people will be banned from Monday 16 March, the Shire of Katanning advises that all 2020 Harmony Festival events are now cancelled. Harmony Events, including Friday Food Night and Saturday Festival are both cancelled due to advice relating to mass gatherings. The Shire has also taken into account community concerns and are aligning our activities with the Health Authority advice to maintain the currently low and slow spread of this illness. Our first priority is the safety of everyone including attendees, our staff, all event stakeholders and members of our local community. There is no plan, at this point, to reschedule the Harmony Event in 2020 ** This post has expired ** The Shire of Katanning is receiving regular updates and advice from the Western Australian Health Department in relation to COVID 19 (Coronavirus). Our Harmony Festival will take place this weekend, as scheduled. The Shire will ensure that any changes to the current Health Advice Notes issued are complied with and that our community and visitors are kept informed. As an extra precaution, the Shire has put in place additional hand sanitising stations throughout the festival area, in line with advice that hand hygiene is key to reducing the spread of COVID 19.

17.01.2022 The toy library will be closed tuesday 11th June due to another booking in the room. As a reminder if you go to TL outside of hours you can ONLY go in if the room is vacant and you must follow all procedures to borrow and return toys ESPECIALLY checking pieces in and out AND putting the toys away properly. It is NOT the book librarians job to help you or do it for you.... If this continues to be a problem then we will have to stop 'outside of hours' borrowing and returning which would be a real shame. Too many pieces and toys are going missing and it is not fair on rostered members and the book librarians to be cleaning up the mess or the committee to deal with complaints about missing pieces, missing toys, dirty toys etc. Thankyou all for your understanding and participation. If you have questions about procedures you can email [email protected] and i will try to get back to you as soon as possible. Regards, Amy Richardson President 0413119629

09.01.2022 Thankyou to the two non-commitee members who came to the AGM last night and apologies to anyone who missed the notices we posted about the dates. There were some changes made to our procedures at the meeting last night which I will write about briefly here. Over the next term a member of the new committee will be on roster duty with you to run through our new training checklist. This will hopefully ensure that all members are receiving the same information during training and... can carry out their duties confidently. When you have completed the re-training session you will be asked to sign the Training Checklist which we will keep on file. New Committee for 2019 President - Amy Richardson Secretary - Position Currently Empty Treasurer - Melanie Braisher General Committee - Trudi Miles, Carol Power, Gemma Trolove (Roster Coordinator). If you are considering taking on the Secretary position please contact me so I can tell you what it involves - no obligation. Updated Polices - We are reinstating missing pieces fines due to toy pieces not being accurately checked when borrowing and returning toys. This fine is $2 per toy with a missing pieces which is refundable when you return the missing piece. To avoid being fined for pieces YOU DO NOT HAVE, you MUST check the pieces BEFORE you borrow the toy. - If you return a toy that is not clean or has many missing pieces the toy will be reloaned to you so that you can take it home and clean it or find the missing pieces. You can also clean your toys on site in the Library Kitchen. - Roster Duties have been increased from 4 sessions per 12 month member to a minimum of 5 sessions. This includes 4 regular duties and one special duty (stocktake, festival stall, bulk toy cleaning, fundraising etc.). At the end of each term when Gemma is doing the next roster she will be checking who owes us time from the previous term. She will call you to ask if you want to book in extra sessions for that term to make up the time or change your membership to a non-volunteering membership ($130 per year instead of $50 per year). If you have any questions about any of this please contact me or another committee member. I will also be sending this information out by email to all members. Regards, Amy Richardson Toy Library President

08.01.2022 The Katanning Toy Library committee is seeking the assistance of one or two members who are willing to become Trainers for new members. This will involve training members during normal borrowing sessions on Tuesday and Saturday as most of the committee is no longer able to do this due to work commitments. In return your membership fee will be reduced to $20pa (same as the committee) however you will have no committee obligations. Please get in touch if you are willing.

06.01.2022 Due to the public library closing the toy library must now also close effective immediately. Please hold on to any toys you have. I will renew all loans and provide updates as they come to hand. It makes me so sad to do this but needs must! Please take care of yourselves and each other!

01.01.2022 COVID-19 AND KATANNING TOY LIBRARY UPDATE While our plans may change without notice, here is some info for toy library members. Being a very small library gives us a lot more flexibility than the larger toy libraries. Our agm will proceed on Saturday 29th March at 10am, either or in person or via teleconference depending on circumstances at that time.... We intend to continue business as usual at this stage. If local schools or the public library close we will close too. Please return clean toys as usual unless you are unwell or fit any of the other usual criteria you are reading everywhere else. If you are in quarantine or isolation send us a message through fb or to [email protected] to cancel rosters or renew toys. Keep toys at home for at least 1 week after your entire household has been given the all clear. If we close for more than a month we will likely extend all current memberships for the same period after reopening.
