23.01.2022 There is no greater sacrifice than to lay your life on the line for your comrades or your country. Australia as a nation is dealing with the findings of the... Brereton Report, and there is the ultimate expectation that justice will be delivered. However we cannot sit by as our leaders commence a witch-hunt that will lay grossly-misdirected blame at the feet of soldiers who are not only innocent but should be commemorated for their bravery, selflessness and service. The Chief of the Defence Force has stated that he will ask the Governor General of Australia to strip the Meritorious Unit Citation awarded to Task Force 66, Special Operations Task Groups who served during the period 30 April 2007 - 31 December 2013. This will impact over 3000 Special Operations personnel including the families of those heroes who have died in combat. You can show your support for common sense and help us stop this persecution of ‘the many’ who served with honour by signing a petition being run by "Voice of a Veteran" at this link https://www.voiceofaveteran.org/ #KAPteam #qldpol

21.01.2022 One of the Labor Party’s most influential advisers and lobbyists will be absent from the Queensland election campaign after taking up a role in Hong Kong with a public relations firm to counter negative coverage of the Chinese territory in the international media.

19.01.2022 Wouldn't it be great if we had a visionary, forward-thinking person who had huge plans that would benefit all Australians in charge of Australia Post? Oh, wait.... We did. Christine Holgate was an outstanding CEO of Australia Post. Her visionary thinking included considering Australia Post taking over the NBN, AND creating an Australia Post Bank. According to reporting in The Australian, this would have been done in conjunction with ME Bank, which at the time of her thinking was owned by super funds. Hmmm...a CEO who essentially wants to create an Australian Bank to benefit Australians. We all know the major parties are in bed with the big banks, so we'll let you do the rest of the math. #KAP #KAPteam

18.01.2022 It's time for the LNP to come clean on asset sales. The KAP's Member for Hinchinbrook Nick Dametto MP has demanded the LNP level with Queenslanders and rule out... the selloff of the State’s electricity assets, which could potentially push up power prices for residents. Mr Dametto said voters had every right to be wary of the LNP’s privatisation agenda, given the previous Newman Government had considered a plan to privatise $33.6 billion worth of the State’s assets. We know that’s what the LNP wanted to do if they won a second term in 2015. It would have seen electricity generators CS Energy and Stanwell sold, as well as Ergon's retail business, Mr Dametto said. The LNP leadership team still have a Newman stench and Queenslanders want to know - will they dust off the old LNP manual if they get back in with a majority? The LNP should be upfront with Queenslanders now as to whether they will do this. We all know what happens when governments privatise our assets the service goes down and the cost to the consumer goes up. And let’s not forget when Labor sold off assets under the former Bligh Government. Selling off Queensland assets is a one-way ticket into political exile known as opposition. Mr Dametto said the KAP would always block the sale of State-owned assets. Unlike the LNP, we’re not beholden to failed free-market ideology. We believe Queensland’s strategic assets, like electrical power generation and distribution, must be kept in the hands of Queenslanders. They should never be allowed to end up controlled by profit-driven private entities, he said. Market competition is not a silver bullet solution. The LNP’s claim of electricity prices for households and businesses falling by an average of $300 per year if elected is just nonsense. You only have to look at jurisdictions where competition has been introduced to see that. Mr Dametto said residents in Victoria and south-east Queensland, where electricity competition existed, had seen similar skyrocketing prices to regional Queensland. Those I’ve spoken to in the energy industry have made it crystal clear what is required if we are going to get serious about slashing your power bill, he said. Industry bodies have stated that the removal of unnecessary regulatory charges which inflate power prices would be a huge help. Things like banning energy network owners from overvaluing their assets to inflate their returns. This could save customers $500 million to $1 billion per annum. Additionally, removing the Competitive Neutrality Fee so Queensland’s state-owned energy businesses can borrow at the government interest rate instead of market rates as well as removing unnecessary charges levied by the Queensland Competition Authority could reduce prices by up to 10 per cent. The gold plating of our electrical assets needs to stop. Removing these unnecessary government fees and charges means consumers will have more money in their back pocket. Voters should be very careful in trusting any candidate who cannot give a straight answer on asset sales or spruiks the free market, which has proven to be the vehicle that has driven up the cost of living for hard working Australians. #KAP #KAPteam #workingforyou #assetsales #notforsale #qldpol #Queensland #electricity

17.01.2022 Forrest Beach Hotel - Wingman. I thought I’d better go and taste test this Wingman Beer. It definitely gets my tick of approval. 17.01.2022 Kennedy MP Bob Katter estimated the cost of the project at $30 million, far cheaper than the long talked about $1 billion Nullinga Dam The North Johnstone transfer is simple, easy and cheap. We don’t want to be knocking any other dam proposals but this one is red hot to go, he said.

15.01.2022 Latest media release KAP DEMANDS BOLD BUDGET, WITHOUT ANY FRILLS Funding for health services, critical infrastructure, new dams and a payroll tax holiday f...or struggling regional tourism businesses are among the priorities Katter’s Australian Party want from today's State Budget. The KAP is also demanding there be no asset sales and that Queensland’s 2032 Olympics bid be scrapped, given the state’s debt level is expected to be well over $100 billion by mid-2021. This figure could be even higher, after more up-to-date figures are released by Treasurer Cameron Dick today. KAP Leader and Traeger MP Robbie Katter said years of fiscal mismanagement by the Labor Government and this year’s COVID-19 pandemic had left Queensland’s coffers in a precarious position. More than ever we need our State Government to focus on investing into projects that will make money and foster development well into the future, he said. We have seen a glimmer of hope in the last couple of months with Labor giving support to vital infrastructure projects like Copperstring 2.0; but this must be just the start. While investment in this sort of development requires outlay from the state in the first instance, the legacy benefits economic and social will be untold. For too long our state, particularly in the south-east, has enjoyed a champagne and caviar lifestyle on a $10 pot and chicken schnitty budget this needs to stop. Mr Katter said while the KAP’s focus remained on development, there were key health priorities in the North that urgently needed funding. The KAP’s key 2020-21 Budget priorities include: No public asset sales Cancellation of Queensland’s Olympics bid, and no money pledged towards the bid Fast-track of funding for scoping studies into Hell’s Gate Dam (Bradfield Scheme), so to reduce the reporting time to six months (as opposed to a year) Forgoing of stamp-duty for strata insurance in North Queensland and funds for an inquiry into the failed sector Expansion of the First Homeowners’ Grant to include existing homes in regional areas Pay-roll tax holiday for COVID-19-ravaged tourism businesses in regional Queensland State funding for crop diversification such as grain silos in the Herbert River District Investment in the North Queensland Bio-Energy Sugar Mill New hospital for Charters Towers including crucial services such as dialysis, chemo, CT scanner and maternity CT scanner and emergency department upgrades for Ingham Hospital Additional dialysis chairs for Mount Isa Hospital and Home Hill Satellite Clinic Cloncurry hospital upgrades $3 million per year to a Rheumatic Heart Disease Program for Queensland’s Indigenous communities Fast-tracking of the proposed ambulance station at Burdell Provide annual funding of upto $5 million in total to councils to deal with flying foxes in urban areas KAP Hill MP Shane Knuth said he hoped to get funding for critical infrastructure development from this week’s state budget for the Hill electorate. While it is a late budget, we are hoping to get what we can for our electorate, Mr Knuth said. Our region has been lobbying very strongly for further road and tourism infrastructure and capital works programs for our schools and sporting community. We are also pressing very strongly for further water infrastructure, which includes the North Johnston Transfer. KAP Hinchinbrook MP Nick Dametto said there were several infrastructure projects that deserved state funding in his region. Fully funding all tidal access for Cardwell’s One Mile Creek, Dungeness at Lucinda and Forrest Beach would transform our region’s economic and tourism potential, he said. This would be aided by funding for the development of the Paluma to Wallaman Falls trail and Cardwell Mountain Bike Trails, both of which are undergoing studies. In addition, locking in the financial support necessary to build the $640 million North Queensland Bio-Energy (NQBE) plant at Ingham would add system strength and dispatchable power to the North Queensland grid. Mr Dametto said local residents would benefit immensely from having a CT scanner and emergency department upgrades at the Ingham Hospital. #KAPteam #qldpol

14.01.2022 Latest media release KAP Leader and Member for Traeger Robbie Katter has welcomed the news that Charters Towers Regional Council will commence work on the B...ig Rocks Weir, which will be jointly funded by the State and Federal governments. It’s understood the Council will be named the sole owner and operator of the weir on completion however the local government body will work closely with the state, through water service provider Sunwater, to fast track pre-construction activities only. The Palaszczuk Labor Government has committed $3 million to the project to conduct environmental and other regulatory approvals, geotechnical assessments, detailed weir design, and water product and pricing definition. A further $27 million has also been pledged for the construction of the 10,000 megalitre weir about 26km north-west of Charters Towers on the Burdekin River. Construction of the weir is expected to support more than 170 jobs, while 115 full-time jobs will be created by the weir once its finished. Mr Katter said he, and other local water project advocates, had been applying pressure right down to the 11th hour to ensure the Big Rocks Project, as well as the Hughenden Irrigation Project (also in his electorate), progressed without issue before the Palaszczuk State Government goes into caretaker mode tomorrow. He said this morning’s announcement regarding Big Rocks, and the State’s releasing last Friday of federal funds to progress the Hughenden project’s detailed business plan, meant the future of the two region-defining infrastructure projects has been dramatically strengthened. Ensuring both the Federal and State priorities are aligned with each other as well as with the people on the ground has been a delicate balancing act but essential in ensuring everyone is on board and on the same page so we can work hard together to achieve our shared goals, Mr Katter said. I have learned over the years that getting the big tick with the initial announcement and funding promise overcomes a big hurdle, but that’s just the start of the negotiating process there’s always a lot more work to be done. Mr Katter said he was now also was seeking a commitment and assurances from the LNP that it would do all within its power to deliver Big Rocks Weir, and the Hughenden scheme, if it wins government on October 31. KAP Federal Member for Kennedy Bob Katter, who was instrumental in delivering $54 million in federal funding for Big Rocks (including a $24 million business case for Hells Gates Dam) and $180 million for the Hughenden scheme, said procrastination was an art form to governments. We at the KAP don’t talk, we act, he said. Procrastination has been raised to an art form by government in Australia both State and Federal and of course both ALP and LNP are incapable of making decisions. If you have to spend half your road monies on reports as to whether the roads should be fixed up or they shouldn’t there’s something terribly wrong. Similarly with water development, not a single dam built in 30 years; actually sorry there has but now they are tearing it down. #KAPteam #qldpol

14.01.2022 A FEDERAL MP has weighed in on damning engineering reports outlining serious issues with the Barron River Bridge, released under Right to Information rules. Kennedy MP Bob Katter said the Department of Transport and Main Roads’ engineering and safety documents relating to the bridge revealed warnings for the past five years which had seemingly been ignored. In February 2020 TMR imposed a load limit of 50.5 tonnes and since November last year commuters have been reduced to a crawl by traffic lights regulating vehicle movements. An engineers’ report completed in February was sitting with Transport Minister Mark Bailey however the department had been selective in the release of details contained in the report.https://www.cairnspost.com.au//4437695f95316ea681ea956a872

12.01.2022 From The Australian article: "Ms Holgate’s other plans included lobbying the federal Opposition before last election on the expectation of a Labor win to crea...te an Australia Post bank - similar to Kiwibank, which is a majority-owned by New Zealand Post, according to sources familiar with the matter. Australia Post would have achieved this in a partnership with ME Bank, which at the time was owned by 26 superannuation funds, including Australia Super. Australia Super has since become the default fund at Australia Post after it ditched AMP." Basically this means that outstanding former CEO Christine Holgate was open to and interested in Australia Post running a bank that was essentially owned by the Australian people. You can imagine how this would have been received by those within the LNP and Labor parties who are best friends with the banks and are obsessed with free market economics, despite the system having disproportionately failed rural and regional Australians time and time again. - Robbie Katter MP #KAPteam #qldpol

12.01.2022 I congratulate Assistant Defence Minister, Andrew Hastie on his comments to Australia’s military that its core business will always be the application of letha...l violence in the defence of our values, sovereignty and interests. We should never forget that." In sharp contrast, in 2018 the Chief of Defence issued instructions the soldiers couldn’t use death symbols, or the word kill - https://www.abc.net.au//military-reminded-letha/100066796. . Hastie has used a degree of sensitivity with his statement but has now spelt out clearly what the role of a soldier is. We did not send men up to Kokoda to die gloriously. We sent them up there to kill the enemy and to deny the invasion of Australia. I won’t be apologising to anyone for saying that. I’m sick and tired of the pressure placed on our soldiers that has resulted in the most terrible and heartbreaking of outcomes. More soldiers are dying at home than they are in combat. 10.01.2022 For years the KAP, and in particular Bob Katter, has been calling for mass migration to end. We should use the coronavirus pandemic as a lever to permanently ...cut back visa levels. Mr Katter has said before: we are bringing in people from countries with no democracy, (and or) no rule of law, (and or) no egalitarian traditions, (and or) no industrial awards, (and or) no Judaeo-Christian beliefs. Australia’s immigration policy should give refuge to the persecuted minorities such as the Jews, Sikhs and Christians, Mr Katter said. #KAP #KAPteam #visas #migration #Australia

10.01.2022 It's truly astonishing that both the LNP and the ALP have such an appetite for repeated bickering, studies and evaluations, but there seems to be absolutely no ...positive action planned to actually restore 100% capacity to the dam! 08.01.2022 Cancel culture is rife. And in almost all cases it does nothing to create any meaningful change. This year alone, some of the victims of cancel culture include... Coon cheese, Pauls Smarter White Milk, Red Skins and Chicos lollies, episodes of kids' tv show Bluey, comedy shows by Chris Lilley and statues of Captain James Cook. Canadian dairy company Saputo’s decision to bow to misguided political pressure over the name of a much-loved brand of cheese - Coon - will do nothing to advance the interests of indigenous Australians, Robbie Katter MP said. Mr Katter said Saputo’s decision to retire the Coon cheese brand, named after founder Edward William Coon, after 94 years was virtue-signalling at its most grotesque. He said the decision, which disregards the true origins of the name, was an insult to history and to those working on solutions to the real struggles facing indigenous Australians in 2020. Earlier this year, there was a movement which saw monuments of historical figures like Captain James Cook either knocked down or defaced. We cannot just delete our history, no matter how uncomfortable it is. And let's not forget that in response to a petition calling for the abolishment in Queensland of all placenames associated with British aristocrats and politicians who were slave traders or pro-slavery in their public life, Minister for Natural Resources, Mines and Energy Dr Anthony Lynham said the government had been actively removing inappropriate names in recent years. Mr Katter said this example of cancel culture was deeply offensive to everyday Queenslanders and would do nothing to advance the lives of First Australians. #KAP #KAPteam #workingforyou #cancelculture

08.01.2022 I was very pleased to meet with St Columbus Church's Father Emmanuel Anorue in Charters Towers to inspect the status of the historic bell tower, currently under...going restoration works, earlier this week. The bell tower stood very proudly next to the church in Gill Street for almost 120 years before it had to be pulled down due to safety concerns in 2016. The community, alongside Charters Towers Parish and the Catholic Diocese of Townsville, has outstandingly rallied to raise money since that time to have the tower restored at a cost of around $250,000. Unfortunately we have now learned additional restoration work needs to be completed on the bell tower roof, adding $75,000 to the cost. It's a huge amount of money, but the historical significance of the structure makes it worth every cent. I still have fond memories of being tasked with ringing the bell at 12pm for the Angelus prayer when I was a student at the nearby St Columba's Primary School. I am very much looking forward to seeing the structure stand up-right once again, and hopefully for another 100 years or so. For anyone wishing to contribute to the bell tower restoration fund, you can make a tax deductible donation to the National Trust Heritage Appeal. For more information contact the parish on 4787 2482. - Robbie Katter MP

08.01.2022 Paul Hudson - KAP Candidate Burnett 6d THERE is talk of having to plough crops back into the ground because farmers cannot get anybody to work.... The solution is simple. Stop the dole for any able-bodied person who refuses farm work. We have people sitting at home, doing nothing and raking in a lot of money from the LNP's coronavirus bonus bonanza payments. I have spoken to many business owners who simply cannot get anybody to work and the reason is that people are getting more for doing nothing. Why on earth did Scott Morrison give them a corona bonus? They never asked for it and they don't deserve it. The local labour shortage can be fixed by stopping dole payments for those who refuse work. Simple solutions are the best solutions. 04.01.2022 Restoring peace to our streets Like so many of you, I am extremely concerned about the lack of safety on our streets these days with juvenile offenders run...ning amok. Recent media reports suggest that has led to a growing number of vigilantes being recruited through social media. I do not support vigilantism but I do appreciate that when you’ve got a crime crisis as bad as the one in Townsville, people feel like they have no other choice. The police are doing all they can but its Labor’s soft on crime, slap-on-the-wrist system that is failing to keep these repeat youth offenders off our streets. We need to deescalate this situation and Katter's Australian Party's relocation sentencing policy is designed to do just that. Under our plan, offenders as young as 10 would be doing six to 12 months on a remote property near Mount Isa where they would build self-respect, respect for others and discipline while learning valuable life skills. Creature comforts, such as a smart phones, television or video game consoles, would be banned and mine site style donga accommodation would make up a large part of the facility. Along with operating on minimum costs, the KAP’s proposed relocation sentencing facility will enable young offenders to develop key life skills such as trade and agricultural work. By getting these kids out of town and on the right path, we can increase public safety, reduce crime rates and restore a sense of pride back in our communities. 02.01.2022 Paul Hudson - KAP Candidate Burnett updated their cover photo. Paul has worked in Scotland, Iceland, France and Norway and travelled and lived in many other parts of the world. He left Scotland in 1984 and went to work in Norway as a consultant to the Offshore Oil Industry. When he completed his duties in Norway, he decided to follow his dream and emigrate to Australia. I love Australia and I am fed up with seeing public money being wasted on vanity projects, while the real issues are ignored, Mr Hudson said. If elected I will make sure taxpayer’s money is spent on what matters and what is important to industry, agriculture, business and health.

01.01.2022 I welcome the Prime Minister's announcement that a Royal Commission into veteran suicides will be established. More of our soldiers, navy and air force personn...el are dying at home than they are in combat. This is simply not the way we should be treating those who serve our country. Julie-Anne Finney, Senator Jacqui Lambie, Heston Russell and many other veterans and advocates have been campaigning for a long time for this. My hope and prayer is that we will get real outcomes out of this Royal Commission. The Department of Veterans Affairs (DVA) needs a major overhaul. We need proper transition programs for when people leave the military. A magic wand will not work in this situation. There are real answers, but it requires radical action. This Royal Commission will help find those answers.
