23.01.2022 There is so much to know about these interesting little guys! Over the world there are over 20,000 species. Queensland has its own World of Bees and chances are you have been seeing them out and about as the weather warms up!

22.01.2022 Tonight we participated in Child Protection Training through In Safe Hands. We’re thankful to have dedicated educators who value learning about how to safeguard children and to keep them protected.

20.01.2022 And just like that, in 14 months we have built a beautiful Early Learning play space for children from 6 weeks to Prep here at Kids Capers Samford

15.01.2022 As the weather warms up and we hit the water remember the importance of water safety and teaching your little swimmers "safety first"! Kids Alive is a great resource for parents with lots of tools to help you teach water safety.

14.01.2022 My name is Emily and I have recently started working at Kids Capers Scarborough. I am very privileged to announce that I will be the new Lead Educator for the Possums room with Miss Gagan as the Assistant Educator. Working with children is what I am and have always been passionate about and I believe that we can learn just as much from them as they can learn from us. I strongly believe that being involved with children's families and their backgrounds, interests, values allows for a strong relationship to develop.

13.01.2022 Earlier today, a group of our kindergarten children and their younger siblings had an exciting adventure going on an excursion to Kids Capers Childcare Scarboro...ugh! The buzz of excitement started from the bus ride itself - a first for some of them. Once we reached our destination, the children were able to explore the beautiful indoor and outdoor places of our latest Kids Capers centre that is due to be opened this January. We also participated in a fire drill under the watchful eyes of fire officers from the Redcliffe Fire Department and Incendia Fire Services. At the end of the practice, the children showed their appreciation by giving out ‘thank you’ cards that they’ve helped to create prior to our visit.

13.01.2022 Yesterday our Kindergarten children went down to the local beach to explore and play. We have implemented beach kindy days as part of our curriculum and can’t wait to see where this learning leads us. Beach kindy excursions are growing children’s learning as they go out into the beautiful natural environment and encourages children to use nature’s resources to initiate learning while exploring the environment around them.

13.01.2022 Hello, my name is Emily Walker. I have been part of the Kids Capers family since 2015. I love all aspects of my role as an Educator. I feel so passionate about the early years and enjoy building relationships with our little people, while getting to watch them blossom into confident learners in their environment and celebrating all their milestones. I am excited for the opportunity to continue being an Educational leader here at this centre when it opens in January. I really ...enjoy mentoring Educators and building on their knowledge and skills. I believe building up our Educators truly gives our Educators a place where they can shine, which creates a space for the children to feel connected, nurtured and cared for. This will in turn assist our children in becoming successful, resilient, capable learners and decision makers in their life of learning and exploring. See more

12.01.2022 Thinking of Trick or Treating this Halloween, here's some safety tips from Queensland Police!

12.01.2022 This morning, we got the parachute out for the children to enjoy some multicoloured fun in the sun! The children each grabbed the edge of the parachute and everyone moved the edges up and down. The children enjoyed watching the colours move and also listening to the noise it made! Then, the children decided to hide under the parachute, and Miss Sarah and I played a game of peekaboo. The children really enjoyed playing this as a group and were shouting 'We're here!' or 'I'm here!' each time we moved the parachute up. They had so much fun playing together!

11.01.2022 Don't forget to Slip, Slop and Slap!!

11.01.2022 During our excursion on Friday, we came across a hopscotch activity right next to the beach where we were playing. This experience expanded the children's development of their numerosity skills as the counted each time they jumped by using either one or two feet, but also by counting the numbers of squares it took to get from one end to the other.

10.01.2022 Today our Koala friends enjoyed shaking about their shakers as Miss Emily sung some fun songs- our favourite song of the morning was "the wheels on the bus" Is your little one really enjoying a certain song at the moment, we'd love for you to share with us so we can sing here too!

10.01.2022 It is very important to learn about and understand our emotions. Our Educators provided engaging activity to assist the children with being able to identify different emotions. Children who learn how to understand emotions in themselves and others are better able to regulate their own responses to strong emotions.

09.01.2022 Last week our Kids Capers Leadership team came together for our monthly managers meeting. Our brand new Samford centre hosted our meeting, and is now officially open! please join me in wish then all the success today

06.01.2022 IG O KI! Relaxing with Birdie and Mr Frog is a great resource that shows children how to calm down, relax and sleep, even in worrying times. Give it a try and let us know how you go! https://vimeo.com/473346685

06.01.2022 My name is Sharyn and I am the Early Childhood Teacher at Kids Capers Scarborough. I am looking forward to meeting the families and children when our amazing new service opens from the 4th of January. I know the area well as I have lived on the Peninsula for almost 17 years. I'm currently living in Scarborough with my daughter and dog. What a wonderful place for families, a great place for children to grow up and experience the beauty and freedom of our beaches, ocean, parks ...and fresh air. The Kindergarten program at the Scarborough Service will be informed by this environment, along with the children’s interests and development needs ensuring all the learning areas of the Queensland Kindergarten Learning Guideline are addressed through regular formal and informal documentation. As a Kids Capers family, you will enjoy daily online communication about the play based learning your child creates, and from which the program is driven and extended. This practice ensures a continued learning cycle which focuses on the child’s skills and knowledge moving from supported to independent, and a record of achievement and success. This reflects my teaching philosophy as I believe all children can and do learn, they do this in their own way and in their own time. I subscribe to the context from Ignacio Estrada as he says if a child can’t learn the way we teach, maybe we should teach the way they learn. This informs my practice as children show me their learning style and tolerances, which not only enables individual goals to be mapped out, but also strong foundational relationships to be established. I am looking forward to establishing these relationships with the Kindergarten children and to be the support of their first teachers, their family.

05.01.2022 Samford update..... The Kitchen is the of the home In the midst of our 6 buildings, our oversized kitchen and eating area is almost complete! ... This is where the children will gather for freshly cooked meals throughout the day. Check out this weeks menu, our menus are seasonal and on a four week rotation. The menus are constructed with input from Families, Chidlren, Educators and the community.

04.01.2022 Here at Kids Capers Scarborough we celebrated World Book Day! The children were very eager to bring in their most treasured books to share with their peers and Educators!

04.01.2022 Today we asked the children what they wanted to do at the beach and they chose building sandcastles and looking for shells, but when we arrived at the beach we discovered so many opportunities for learning. The children were finding shells and rocks to throw into the sea, then we were watching to see if the tide washed them back to shore. The children found some shells, driftwood and some glass which had been washed up, but it wasn’t sharp anymore. Miss Aimee will investigate this further as part of the children’s learning.

02.01.2022 Our beautiful Kids Capers Scarborough Centre is preparing to open on the 4th of January. Today we opened the centre to 31 children to come play and explore the indoor and outdoor environments. While the children were at the centre, we held a practice fire drill with the Redcliffe Fire Department and Nick from Incendia watching on to observe our practice. We successfully evacuated every child from the level 1 playground to the emergency assembly point in the carpark. Thank you to everyone who participated in our excursion and fire drill.

02.01.2022 We believe in acknowledging and teaching, through play, the true histories of Australia to promote a sense of understanding, connection and respect for Australia’s First Peoples, and for the land which we learn on and care for. As an organisation, we are committed to raising awareness about reconciliation, with the goal of encouraging all people in the broader community to embrace reconciliation and work towards reparation and healing for the Land’s First Peoples. Today our educational leaders met to share each Centre's journey towards reconciliation, sharing ideas to further empower our educators to embed Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander perspective in all aspect of the program.
