25.01.2022 The acronym NAIDOC stands for National Aborigines and Islanders Day Observance Committee. NAIDOC Week celebrates the history, culture and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. Here at Kids Capers Wamuran we value the importance of showing respect to the traditional owners on the land which we meet, learn and play. This week has seen us engaging in face painting and rock painting with indigenous symbols, doing puzzles to make up the Aboriginal and Torr...e Strait Islander flags, dot painting and much more. Today we had the Aunties and Uncles from the Waminda Centre join us for our morning play time. They went to each of the rooms to participate in the activities that the Educators had organised for the children. A child turned to an Aunties and said your like our grandma. It was a sweet moment



25.01.2022 Did you know that next Wednesday night, we are having a kindy information night for the children that will be in kindergarten next year? If your child turns 3 by the 30th of June. They will be eligible to attend a kindergarten program. We will have a guest speaker from the Wamuran State School to talk about Prep as well as a presentation held by our qualified kindergarten teachers. ... 23.01.2022 Today was our last excursion over to Wamuran State School for this year for our kindergarten children. The children explored the prep classes as well as their playgrounds. "I am going here next year" one of the children said. We are very lucky to have the state school so close to our centre. This also makes the transition to prep a lot easier for our children.

22.01.2022 Today the centre celebrated National jelly bean day. The children and educators dressed up in bright colours and used fluro paint to do paintings as well as fluro face paint. Did you know that Jelly beans were the first candy to be sold by weight rather than by piece? What a cool fun fact

20.01.2022 Today the pre-kindy children painted rocks using the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander colours. The children we use this rocks as a natural resource in their room. Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures are complex and diverse. The Indigenous cultures of Australia are the oldest living cultural history in the world they go back at least 65,000 years

18.01.2022 Today we ventured out to our local park for a Easter egg hunt. The children were so excited to go on a scavenger hunt to collect the glittery eggs. Community involvement provides a sense of belonging and social connectedness. It can also offer extra meaning and purpose to everyday life.

13.01.2022 We made the most of the sunny weather this morning. Our educators set up manmade water slides and sprinkler system as well as a clam shell for the children to explore with. The children also used the buckets filled with water to tip on each other. After the water fun, we put on a sausage sizzle for all of the children to enjoy. Water is an important natural material that provides hours of absorbing fun and a multitude of wonderful development and learning opportunities. Water play gives many opportunities to develop gross and fine motor skills across all of the the age groups.

12.01.2022 Today, the children and educators indulged in some deliciously hot cheese toasties for Grilled cheese day. Our cheese toasties were the hot topic at lunch time

12.01.2022 What a way to end the week then with a crazy hair day. The pre-kindy and kindy educators and teachers used this opportunity to organise activities based around self portraits including what kind of crazy hair they like. A self portrait gives children the time to study their eyes, nose, mouth and the rest of their face and body, and to work out how it all fits together

12.01.2022 To coincide with this months calendar of events, today our educators planned many different activities around daisys. The children created daisys using paintbrushes, their fingers, crate paper and patty papers Craft activities foster communication, listening, attention, and imagination. Children express their individual ideas and feelings with art materials such as paint, paste and collage materials.

09.01.2022 This week, the Sugar Glider children have been learning and recognising the letters that make up their and what their names like look as a whole. Letter recognition activities refer to the ability to visually recognize letters of the alphabet through hands-on learning. This includes the ability to name each letter and match that letter name with its written form, both upper and lower case letters

They have been using their fine motor skills to cut out the snowman’s. Fine motor skills involve the use of the small muscles that control the hand, fingers, and thumb. an important skill to practice to get ready for prep. ... 08.01.2022 How many ways do you think you can use yogurt lids? To continue on with recycling week, today the children used the yoghurt lids to create with the paint while the children in the sugar glider room designed lovely necklaces. As young children use recyclable objects in different ways, it triggers their imaginative play as well as building creativity and problem solving skills. Children also learn about their own environment as they manipulate different materials in addition to... enjoying the process of creating or building things. I wonder what the children will use for tomorrow's recycling activity?

07.01.2022 Samford update..... The Kitchen is the of the home In the midst of our 6 buildings,our oversized kitchen and eating area is almost complete! ... This is where the children will gather for freshly cooked meals throughout the day. Check out this weeks menu, our menus are seasonal and on a four week rotation. 07.01.2022 Today kicks off our Recycling week here at Kids Capers Wamuran. The children in the goanna room created their own sensory bottles, the children had the choice of rice, pasta, rocks, bark or yoghurt lids. The children listened in amazement as they heard what sounds their sensory bottles made. Over this week, the children will explore with any recycled materials as well as learning about what items can be recycling and how to care for our earth. ... Recycling is the process of collecting and processing materials that would otherwise be thrown away as trash and turning them into new products. Recycling can benefit your community and the environment.

03.01.2022 We had a special visit today from A Current Affair, to film some of the children watching a live feed of Santa Clause. The children couldn’t hold their excitement in. The children sung Rudolph the red nose reindeer to Santa. Each child had the chance to tell Santa 1 thing that they might like for Christmas. A barbie doll and a race car were very popular toys as well as gifts for their brothers and sisters. Thank you to Eredox Video for setting up this great opportunity for our children. Eredox Video donated $1 per child who participated in the video to the Cancer Council foundation

03.01.2022 Today the Dingo children went on an excursion over to Wamuran State School where we were met by 2 lovely teachers, Miss Tom and Miss Cavanagh. The children were very eager to see what was in the library. The children sat down and listened to 2 books, ‘Der Glumph went the little green frog’ and ‘My dog Bigsy’ as well as singing the heads, shoulders, knees and toes song. We feel very lucky to have such a tight relationship with the Wamuran State School as this makes the transition over to big school a whole lot easier for our children. Thank you Miss Tom and Miss Cavanagh for having us

03.01.2022 What a lovely day for a party. This morning we had our Christmas party here at Kids Capers Wamuran. A massive thank you to all of the staff for making today happen. Also a big thank you to the families and children for coming along and of course thank you for Santa for dropping in to say hello and to give the children a candy cane A shout out to Hannah and Millie from D'Aguilar Wildlife for bringing some wonderful animals in for our children and families to pat

02.01.2022 We had a playful visitor come to our centre to visit our goanna children today Norman the puppy enjoyed all of the attention and the pats. The children were super gentle with Norman and loved playing with him. Thank you to the Bain family for the puppy visit. We hope to see Norman soon. ... The bond and relationships children form with animals is also beneficial, helping them to build a sense of empathy and respect and in many case, providing a calming influence as children settle into the day.

02.01.2022 Today we had a special visitor come and join our centre. CPL Cane from the Australian Army came to the centre and spoke to the children and educators about what food they eat and what they have to take in their bags. CPL Cane also showed the children some of her husbands metals as well as putting camouflage face paint on the children. CPL Cane showed the kindy and pre-kindy children a March game where they have to copy what the person in charge saids. A big thank you to CPL Cane for taking the time to come out to our centre

01.01.2022 Hand washing is such an important part of our daily routine for our educators and children. The children have many discussions about washing their hands and the steps on how to properly wash all of the germs away. Keeping hands clean is one of the most important steps we can take to avoid getting sick and spreading germs to others. Many diseases and conditions are spread by not washing hands with soap and clean, running water.
