25.01.2022 Do you know this little trick for growing passionfruit? Once your vine is at the height you want, snip the top little bit off this will make the vine branch outwards (also true for most plants and trees ) - if you don’t snip it, it will just grow long and spindly and probably won’t get much fruit Passionfruit flowers will only develop on new growth, so regularly snipping ends off and a good cut back each year after fruiting is a great way to ensure you get lots of fruit year after year

20.01.2022 We went for a little fish today and this is the amount of line WE PICKED UP None of this is ours. We collected this all within about 20 minutes.... It wasn’t submerged or even really stuck. Just sitting there. With people fishing all around. WTAF I fucking swear if I ever catch anyone leaving line around like this or chucking line on shore or in the ocean, I will punch them in the face. And those who walk past crap like this without picking it up, even if it’s not theirs, piss me off just as much! Show some respect for the amazing ecosystem, that is the ocean, that provides the fish you are there to catch. Rant over. PS the eldest was too cool to show the look about how you feel about people leaving this lying around - the other two as you can tell, are just as pissed off as I am!

20.01.2022 Simple tip to stop your tomato plants going psycho Find the new little branches in the forks of existing branches and pick them out If left these become whole new branches that shoot out at different angles and then grow new branches of their own - that’s why your tomato bush just keeps growing and growing and ending up everywhere! Pick these out early and you stop the spread ... If you do this regularly from the time you plant, you can end up with a nice tall bush with only a few outward shooting branches and lots of nice juicy tomatos I have a quick look and pick each day when I water my vege gardens - it’s made a massive difference and kept my tomato bushes more maintainable. PS never just chop it at the top to stop is growing or it’ll just stop growing and producing all together.

I made mini quiche for the boys today and I had one sheet of pastry left - didn’t want to waste it, so decided to stew up some apples and raspberries, which I will roll in it and then bake. 12.01.2022 I used to get my knickers in a massive twist over trying to make healthy snacks for the kids I’d aim for dairy, gluten and refined sugar free whilst also trying to make it taste great - do you know how hard that is The amount of stuff I chucked, cause it tasted like crap or didn’t work out - oh god I’ve lost count! ... And I’d feel stressed every time I made something, worrying if ANYONE would like it So, I NEVER would have bothered making something like this at home before, cause I thought, well if I’m making something with all this sugar, what’s the point? BUT it’s still better than store bought! It’s less preservatives, less packaging and more control - you can control how much sugar you put in or whether to add choc chips (like how is that even a question right ), you control how big the portions are, the quality of ingredients you use and you know exactly what’s in there The moral? 1) Perfection, trying to do everything, all at once, extremely well, will do your fucking head in, eventually at some point. 2) choc chips should always be added 3) home made snacks always trump store bought snacks, everytime Now I’m off to eat some crunchy ANZACs.
