23.01.2022 McLaren Vale Grape Wine & Tourism Association, in Onkaparinga, was among the eleven councils that applied to remain GM-free Crop Zones. The Mayor Erin Thompson says GM crops will add red tape and costs to the wine industry, reducing jobs and growth. Please ask Premier Marshall to intervene and grant all the applications for GM-free Crop Zones. https://indaily.com.au//gm-free-snub-a-kick-in-the-guts-f/ Please contact the Premier: T: 08 8429 3232 E:

22.01.2022 Councils are angry that Minister Basham rejected their valid GM-free Crop applications. Victor Harbor Mayor Moira Jenkins said "With the Fleurieu being GM-free, as we requested, would have provided a competitive edge with a clean and green image." Yankalilla Mayor Glen Rowlands noted 87% of community responses and 71% of Primary Producers wanted to remain GM-free. Minister Basham's electorate is based in Victor Harbor and FLAG member Peter Manuel said "there will be repercussions come election time in 2022." https://www.victorharbortimes.com.au//councils-ignored-in/ Ask Premier Steven Marshall to intervene to designate the Councils as GM-free Zones. 22.01.2022 According to the Stock Journal this week, consumer demand for organic food is sky-rocketing - with Woolworths recording 20 per cent annual growth in demand for its organic lines. So why is the South Australian government hell bent on destroying the organic industry by lifting its GM crop moratorium? Have your say!: [email protected]
19.01.2022 Great letter from Karoonda organic farmer Rita Porker. "Farmers really need truth and facts! Wake up farmers... it will be you who loses, not the biotech companies. Local councils can and should decide to keep SA GM-free." https://www.murrayvalleystandard.com.au//gm-crops-who-re/

16.01.2022 The rally at Minister Basham’s office in Victor Harbor on Saturday, protested his baseless rejection of applications from 11 councils to remain GM-free Crop Zones. Together, they would form a GM-free arc from the Fleurieu Peninsula to the Barossa Valley, with big benefits for the grape, wine and tourism industries. https://indaily.com.au//what-we-know-today-monday-novemb/ Please ask SA Premier Steven Marshall to designate all the Councils as GM-free. 15.01.2022 Alexandrina Council's Sept. 21 meeting voted 6 to 5 to ask the Minister to restore the region's GM-free crop status. Council received 252 responses to its survey, with 71% (179) community and 28% (71) from primary producers and allied industries. 70% backed GM-free, 26% were for GM, and 4% unsure. 15.01.2022 The Minister for Primary Industries, David Basham, has the final say on whether councils can declare their regions GM-free, but he has said he supports the lifting of the GM crop moratorium! Please contact him. Ask him to respect the democratic process that delegated councils to consult with their communities, and to approve all applications from councils to declare their regions GM-free.
